Climate change is a debate people hear every day, especially global warming. Whether it is on the news, in the local paper, or an awareness commercial, the topic never seems to clear the air. This is a widely debated topic, mainly because it can affect everyone around the world. While it is argued that climate change is not real and should not be taken so seriously, we need to understand the inevitability of global change and take it more seriously because it can affect our health, our environment, the way we live, and may even force us to adapt to new situations. Global warming is the increasing temperatures in the earth’s atmosphere. It is caused by greenhouse gasses, like carbon dioxide, being trapped in the atmosphere (Ravi, Global Warming). Examples of this argument are that the sea level is not rising enough to a point where we should be worried and people are over reacting (Marco Evers). It is also argued that we cannot tell if ice is melting more rapidly because we have only been monitoring ice melts for the past 10 years (Marco Evers). Another argument is that storms will not get stronger due to the warming temperatures. Some even argue that climate change is not real at all. However, the problem with these arguments is that there are facts to prove them wrong. Climate change and global warming are real and if we do not do anything about it we will face the consequences. Sea levels are rising due to melting ice, even though we have only been monitoring it for a decade, statistics show it is melting faster due to the warming temperatures inflicted by global warming. Warming temperatures will cause more powerful storms due to the warming seas and wind patterns that will be affected. The opposing argument is not valid enough to contradict the facts proving global warming is real and that it should be taken
