Living in the United States has not always been safe. In every city, there is always someone getting robbed, jumped, beat up shot, stabbed, getting their car stolen. With conditions like these wouldn’t you want a gun to protect yourself from all these horrible things? Well in the United States, our second amendment is your right to bear arms, it simply states that no matter what the circumstance is, we can have a gun. But the US government has had bans on certain guns, only because they want more money, you have to pay to take certain courses and classes you have to pass in order to take your gun outside of your house and use it for protection. That, is going against the constitution.

Imagine enjoying a movie at Cinema 10, eating a meal at Taco Bell, or even sitting in a history class at Carman-Ainsworth High School while people all around you are carrying loaded guns! Although this may seem unbelievable, it is possible because the second amendment of the United States Constitution gives citizens the right to possess and carry guns. It is understandable that Americans would want to possess guns such as shotguns and rifles for the popular sport of hunting. However, it is ridiculous that our government would allow people to carry handguns. Handgun possession should be strictly limited, because they are made solely to kill people, they have increased the murder rate in the U.S., and they have even allowed children to easily kill other children.
People have questioned gun control long time. Many people wonder if anyone, aside from those who join the law force, should be allowed to carry guns. Benjamin Franklin once said, “Those who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety” (Wright 4). Franklin understood that taking guns away from law-abiding citizens would not uphold their liberty. Some people who argue for gun control state many violent crimes involve guns. Others believe a child could find the gun and something bad could happen to the child or others when a gun is unsafely stored. People who argue against gun control might say there is a huge psychological gap between citizens who shoot to protect themselves or their property and those who go into schools and shoot at others. Criminals will always find a way around gun control laws and will be able to obtain and use guns illegally. The second amendment protects gun rights for individual citizens. Reasonable gun control laws and educational steps can be taken to protect the majority of U.S. citizens. Gun control does not only take guns away from criminals, gun control also limits law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves and their families when necessary.
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. A vast majority of citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would quickly reduce the threat of crime. Many innocent people feel they have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting. How many of us want the U.S. government to have the right to tell us what to do, and when w can do it. There are probably not many who would agree that the government should have that right. Though having gun control laws is not to that extreme, some would say it is the first step. Growing up in a small town, and also growing up with guns my whole life I was one of those people who did not want gun control laws. Then after reading two articles that discussed this topic I found that I have been ignorant about this subject.

As of 2013, all 50 states allow concealed carry of handguns (Concealed Carry Reciprocity Maps), although a few states don’t require a permit and the standards for licensing vary greatly from state to state. In the U.S. most states are “Shall Issue” states. This means they will grant anybody a permit that meets certain guidelines such as being 21 or older and not having any felony convictions, a history of mental illness or domestic abuse. A handful of other states are “May Issue” states. In these other states, such as Maryland, a permit will only be issued if you can prove you need it. This can be a large obstacle and these states will usually only issue permits to people in the public eye, wealthy individuals that are well-connected or business owners frequently transporting large sums of cash (Concealed Carry Reciprocity Maps). Although the requirements and standards are different wherever you may live, one thing holds true- concealed carry permit holders are rapidly growing. The market for handgun training, concealed carry courses and smaller, more concealable handguns have opened up. When concealed carry was first gaining popularity there were two very different schools of thought. Some thought that violent crime would decrease, as criminals would fear the everyday person that just may happen to be armed. Others thought that having people carrying around concealed handguns in public would lead to an increase in violent crime with people losing their temper and shooting each other. When analyzing the data and crime trends, it is clear that with this influx of concealed carry permit holders there has not been a corresponding increase in violent crime.
The recent tragedy in Orlando has resonated throughout the world rapidly. Despite this, Omar Mateen, a radicalised young adult was only repeating a fatal pattern, a pattern in which the world recognises, a pattern that clearly needs to come to a stop. Although being tragic, US soil and the US’ worldly reputation has been stained once again, and to no extent does it surprise anyone.
America is a freedom country that has people from all over the world have come and lived. In America, the safety of people is the most important concern of government, and Americans are encouraged to be able to protect themselves from dangerous situations. As a result of that, Americans have right to possess guns so that they can protect themselves from dangerous situations. However, besides the reason that people with guns can protect themselves from dangerous situations, researches have showed that more than 30,000 people are killed every year and more than 30 people are murdered everyday by guns in America. Although there are many people think that it is necessary to own gun, there are a lot of benefits when guns are restricted to own except police and security. The three main benefits are reducing homicides, reducing the ability of suicide, and reducing deaths from gun related crimes.
To Own or Not to Own-That is the Question Do you think that people should be allowed to own guns? This debate has raged on in our nation for decades. In 1791, our founding fathers adopted the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. The amendment is part of the United States Bill of Rights and it states; “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” More recently in 2008 and 2010, the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment “protects an individual’s right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.”
