I feel the hot burning sun beating down on my back on a summer day. I hear the cold wind blow through the trees on a fall day. I see the snow blow down as it blurs my vision. I smell the wildflowers that bloom every spring. I have seen, heard, smelled and felt all the season as I ride my horse. Riding my trusty steed through the winding trials of the freeing land in each season makes me forget about my problems. Riding makes me feel free and forget about the millions of thoughts on my mind. Instead the beauty of my surroundings pulls me in as I fall into awe as I gawk at the terrain. Some of the best feelings I have experienced was in the saddle. I see the seasons change right before my eyes. I experience more in the summer months than I do at any other time of the year. When I go on a trail ride I hear the singing of the birds, chitter chatter of the squirrels, and the roaring voices of the people behind and infront of me on horseback. They seem to not be as lost in the summers beautiful scenery. The woodland and meadow landscape is like a never ending painting. Every brush stroke shows detail of the emerald green of …show more content…
When rain freezes onto the tree, they are like glass trees in a winter wonderland forest. Although the winter months are not my favorite to ride in, there is a few fascinating glimpses of winter. Like when the snow is drifting up and down the blanketed gravel road. Or when I catch the snowflakes on my tongue and taste the cold feathery ice crystal melt in my mouth. I watch the gust of wind blow the snow flakes around and get caught in my eyelashes. Every blink has a little cold surprise, that eventually melts away and gets replaced with a new snowflake. I feel the tip of my nose and fingers become numb, but I continue to ride and watch what was once an autumn colored landscape become swept with a blinding white
Have you ever rode a dirtbike? I have my dad got it for me on my 9th b-day. After receiving this dirt bike, I now ride it all over the place. It has become apart of my life!
I love riding four wheelers. I also love to adventure so I guess you could say my character trait is being adventurous. I’ve been riding my whole life, you think I’m kidding but my mom even rode four wheelers when she was pregnant with me so yeah. I got my very first four wheeler when I was three and I rode it till I was nine, but then I wanted to ride with the big boys or girls or whatever. When I was ten I got Yamaha blaster two hundred. It was my first manual transmission four wheeler. It was also a fixer upper, so I restored it to original condition and learned valuable knowledge along the way. So now I know a lot about four wheelers. When I got done fixing it it was a lot better than before. So I figured I was ready to learn how ride a
Being out in the woods is meaningful to me because, of the excitement I get out of observing deer in their habitat and the challenges that are presented by the sport of hunting. Once that deer is close enough that I can see it my adrenaline starts to pump and my heart starts to beat a little faster. The excitement that comes with seeing a deer is great, but it is even better if the deer is in shooting range. I have been bow hunting for two years and am already hooked on it because of the anticipation of getting a shot off at a big buck, but watching the deer and how they react in their own habitat is ne...
As we were climbing up the hill, I looked around to notice how green the lightly damp grass was, how beautiful the tall trees were, and how fast those snow clouds were moving above us. We got one elk on this adventure, so we decided we would pack up our stuff and head back home. As the white GMC reached the summit of Red Mountain Pass, I looked back to Silverton to see nothing but snow falling from the nearly black clouds in the sky, and I thought to myself--let it snow.
It’s winter, and your windows are frosted with ice. Snow drifts blanket your grass and summer flowers. You glance out at your car in the driveway, and you’re not exactly looking forward to the trek out there, to watching your breath as you wait for it to warm up.
Some people think of them as animals. Some people think of them as objects. Some people think of them as friends. Then there are the few who think of them as family. Horses have always been like family to humans, except sometimes closer. There are many benefits to owning or being around horses. They come in many different colors. There is a multitude of breeds, also. Additionally, they have a long history with humans. Horses have unique behaviors. Showing horses has been the past-time or even career of many people. Furthermore, caring for horses can be a handful, but is definitely rewarding. Finally, riding horses is not just a hobby or a sport, but an action of your heart. Horses are wondrous creatures that have lived with man or thousands of years.
Snow bites my ankles as I stop to listen to the trees whining. As I look down at the little, iron full, freezing stream. I touch my smooth, dark, frigid camera, I found the perfect place to take my picture. Walking over a few feet from the stream to take the picture, the birds start to sing, leaves plunge from the tops of trees, and the squirrels dart away chattering.
Ride’s journey began when she was just a college student attending Stanford University, on her way to earning a B.A. in English, a B.S. in physics(6), degrees in both physics and astrophysics (as well as English)(7), and a P.h.D. in physics.(5a) It was during her final year of graduate work, after completing eight years of college, that she saw the advertisement NASA had sent out recruiting astronauts in her college newspaper. Ride immediately signed up, not knowing at the time why exactly she had but knowing she could do it. NASA sorted through the eight thousand applications, including over one thousand female applicants, and selected 208 finalists, Ride among them. The chosen applicants participated in extensive interviews along with physical and mental stress tests: from this process thirty-five people were selected as astronaut-candidates in 1978, six of whom were
As I step out onto my grandmother’s back porch, I remember losing my breath, not only from the bitter cold, but also from the captivating scene. I am immediately taken aback by the view. The entire ground, as far as my eyes can see, is coated in a hefty blanket of solid white. The light seems to dance atop the snow, making it glitter wherever the sun shines. All the trees around are snowcapped, as if sprinkled with powdered sugar.
In winter, there are many great activities to do and play. First, winter contains something that no other season contains which is snow. A numerous amount of people like to play in the snow and play a variety of games. They are making a snowman, having a snowball fight, or even making snow angles. Then, there are more games to play that involve snow like skiing, hockey, even snowboarding. There are also some people who have never seen snow so they eventually become fascinated with it.Winter can make people feel a variety of emotions and make “your mood lighten up”
The snow that was predicted to be several inches by the end of the weekend quickly piled up to around eight inches by that evening. At times, the snow was falling so heavily you could hardly see the streetlights that glistened like beacons in a sea of snow. With the landscape draped in white, the trees hangi...
Growing up in Selkirk, there isn’t much to get excited about. We have no big events whatsoever, at least compared to other parts of the world. We don’t have anything like the Fringe festival, or a pride parade. The only things to get excited about in this town are Christmas, Birthdays, and our very own Common Riding.
captive by a sheath of frost, as were the glacial branches that scraped at my windows, begging to get in. It is indeed the coldest year I can remember, with winds like barbs that caught and pulled at my skin. People ceaselessly searched for warmth, but my family found that this year, the warmth was searching for us.
The tape rolled and I found my feet wedged back into the blanket of snow, brows furrowed and taut – staring. My toes were numb and my red fingers quivered as the snowflakes caked my lashes. It blurred my vision, not that it made a difference: the white flecks had obscured the sight of anything ahead of me and each deposit of snow pricked my rosy cheeks like an iced pin. The snowmen stood in a regimented line, stick arms saluting Mother Nature.
I love the hot and humid days that makes you want to dive into a fresh and cold pool. When summer time starts, you can wear lighter clothes, which are much more comfortable. The weather allows people to go outdoors to do fun activities. You wake up in the morning to the sun beaming in your room, birds chirping, and the aroma of the delicious food that is cooking downstairs. The outdoors are alive with the freshness of the air, the smell of flowers and a freshly mowed lawn. During the warm summer nights, you can sit outside on your porch and chat with your neighbo...
