The history of the city shows us that it has come very far in the last few decades. In the past 15 years, overall crime has dropped significantly. Even though Richmond is situated in a very accessible location, the traffic caused by the conjunction of many different major highways can become a major issue. The local government of Richmond has been working towards trying to decrease the amount of traffic with toll routes like the Powhite Parkway and the Pocahontas Parkway. Another major issue with location is the James River itself. The River is a major asset that must be maintained constantly. In the past, the River was highly polluted. In recent years, the conservation of the river and the ecosystems dependent on the river have become a major priority for the city. Maintaining all of these aspects and many more have become the main priority of the city to increase their quality of life for residents and for …show more content…
One of the reasons for this is the diversity in the city. Richmond has become a place that welcomes all nationalities which has allowed for the boom in diverse food and beverages. As time continues, I don’t see any change in this at all. More and more people with open restaurants. Also, the city’s continued interest in the organic and healthy food trend sweeping the nation will continue. Farmer’s markets like the one in Shockoe Bottom in downtown Richmond will thrive and new ones will begin to open. The alcoholic beverage industry will never be the same either. The rise of these companies will change the tourism industry in Richmond forever. Finally, Richmond has always depended on the local tourists. I’ve lived outside of Richmond for my entire life. I feel that this will never change, and it will only increase with the increased population of the suburbs around central Virginia. The tourism future of Richmond is looking
The first effort by the English to establish a colony in the New World was when Sir Walter Raleigh issued a charter to establish a colony at Roanoke. It was the responsibility of Raleigh to make the necessary provisions to complete the journeys to the New World and accomplish the goals of the charter. This entailed hiring ship captains and their crews, recruiting possible colonists, purchasing food and other supplies, and finding those who would invest capital in the missions. Raleigh however did not actively participate in the journeys to Roanoke Island; he was just the organizer and major financier.

Vineland, New Jersey, though I have not lived here that long, I have come to realize that it has a few special things about it. In my essay I hit on points about my neighborhood, the local area, and the regional terrain as well as the landscape. How strong urbanism plays a role in Vineland. If the area I reside in, is formal or functional region or if it is a combination of both. Then, if the boundaries of Vineland are sharply defined or board zones of transition. Also the effects that Hurricane Sandy had on New Jersey and the surrounding states.
...ry for entertainment. Should Surry County want to keep the ferry, due to its historical aspect; the ferry could be made into an attraction that would take tourists around the James River for a fee. The ferry would then be an attraction and not a mode of transportation, also adding revenue for the county.
The Virginia colony was advertised as a place that was “commendable and hopeful [in] every way” by the British (doc 8). The reality of life in Virginia for the early settlers, however, was very different. While it is true the land was plentiful and new opportunities were available, most did not have the opportunity to capitalize on those opportunities as they were busy trying not to die. The first colonists faced both internal and external threats as they tried to build a life in Virginia. Three constants of life in early Virginia were suffering, rigidity in government, and the permeation of religion in all things.
After seceding from the Union, the town’s population tripled during war times. This increase brought gamblers, prostitutes, and other people who followed the action of the war. The towns atmosphere soon changed, and chaos happened. There was fights in the streets and soldiers who were taking advantage of the alcohol and prostitutes. Eventually, the Confederate COngress put in a martial law that said that Richmond and all towns within ten miles
Fredericksburg, Virginia began in 1676 when a fort was established on the Rappahannock River just to the North of where Fredericksburg was established in 1728. The town was named after Frederick, Prince of Wales, the son of King George II.
Throughout history, many very important conflicts have risen, sometimes causing dramatic changes in power and cultures around the world. In particular cases, these conflicts are aroused by the very ideas and hopes of these changes. Colonial Virginia in the 1670’s was a place where change was desired in many forms. Indentured servants and the lower class wanted better lives and more rights, while men of the higher classes longed for more power and profits. Nobleman Nathaniel Bacon was one of these men in the upper class. Bacon claimed to support the needs and wants of the lower classes to help him gain this power and profit. However, Governor William Berkeley was in the way of Bacon’s trip to the top. This creates a rebellion and feud that will
Between 1606 and 1700, the settlers sponsored by the London Company sailed to Virginia in hopes of getting rich and obtaining land. These people became known as the settlers of England’s Virginia Colony. What the settlers experienced was nothing like the success that was imagined for “Virginia, Earth’s only paradise! (Doc A)” to hold. The challenges of Virginia can be illustrated by these 3 things: the lust for gold, tobacco, and the first few winters.
Tobacco production was a big deal in Virginia during the 1600’s. It became the basis of making money, which during the time, was something colonists had been struggling with. The source shows us how much tobacco was sold, depending on the number of workers growing it.

Jamaica is known for beautiful scenic beaches, waterways, forests, and mountains. Many of these are facing environmental issues. These environmental issues are deforestation, water pollution, coral reef damage, and air pollution in Jamaica’s capital city of Kingston (CNO, 2013). The main reason for these environmental issues is a result of the rapid growth of the Jamaican population, urbanization, and tourism.
Tourism is often associated with traveling to places away from home. Tourism has a big impact on the economic growth of some countries, which define the shape of their cities by producing different sectors like historic districts, convention centers, museums, malls, hotels, restaurants, and the list can be endless. Furthermore, tourism elements have been developed by cities for a variety of reasons including: situating themselves in the world by drawing a positive image and attracting visitors and for their money.
For the past few decades other forms of tourism, also known as niche tourism, have been becoming more popular, particularly:
In recent years, tourism marketing has gone through strategic changes with the improvement in new technologies, the chase of a relationship between customers and suppliers as well as the importance of sustainability issues in marketing. Marketing Tourism reconsiders the needs of the tourists but does not overlook on the long term economic, environmental, social and cultural interests of the local population. So, it means that marketing consider both the tourist demand and effect to society as
