Richard Nixon served as the United States president from 1969 to 1974. During his time in office Nixon accomplished many things such as the endangered species act in which he aimed to provide a framework to conserve and protect endangered and threatened species and their habitats. One of Nixon's primary focuses was foreign affairs, the most memorable of these was the vietnamization,The removal of US involvement in South Vietnam in the Vietnamese War. nixon almost destroyed the U.S. economy by ending the dollars gold value which created a stagflation. Later middle eastern countries placed an oil embargo on countries that supported Israel during the Yom Kippur War such as the U.S.this caused the prices of oil to rise in the U.S. when nixon started to invest more into oil business to obtain more energy. He was also interested in fossil fuels because of the large amounts of coal being burned. The biggest event that happened to nixon was the watergate scandal which was a recording revealing Nixon trying to cover up illegal business happening in his administration. As a result of the watergate scandal there was a supreme court case called United States vs. Nixon which resulted in a decision against President Richard Nixon, ordering him to deliver tape recordings and other subpoenaed materials.He said he had executive privilege in court trying to conceal what he said on the tapes. Before he was impeached, nixon resigned.
