Child abuse is a real issue in America and causes long lasting effects on child well being, mental health, and future. It is estimated that 15% of child abuse victims are under the age of 1 and a quarter of child neglect and maltreatment happen when the child is 2 years old or younger. There are rules for all people regardless of being a child and how you cannot just do whatever you want to a child or anyone for that matter. This is a serious issue, it is absolutely horrifying that there are so many child abuse cases in America. It is even more disturbing that 78% percent of cases come from the children's own parents. Why would anyone want to intentionally hurt their child physically, mentally or in any other way? It is very saddening that there are many new generations and children that will grow up knowing what it feels like to be neglected and mistreated by people and their parents who they were supposed to trust with their safety and life. There needs to be a change in how we regulate child laws and regulations for households and families. CPS needs to be easier to get to come and do a wellness check. It should not be an extreme incident for someone to actually show up and care for a child's mental and physical well-being. So let's take action and make sure the children around us are treated with love and grace because too many children have to go through mistreatment and horrifying environments.
