Darl is a complex character who his family had labeled crazy because he was aware of all situation going on around him. In darl’s perspective he realizes that there's no point of a dangerous journey to Jefferson and that the motive of the father isn't as noble as he makes it. He then decides that the fastest way to end the journey is to either let the coffin wash down the river or burn it in the farm. His intentions were questioned and everyone thought that the reason for Darl doing is because he is crazy and not at all because he thought that ending the journey would be better for everyone. Even cash understood what Darl was trying to achieve. He said, “It would be God’s blessing if He did take her outen our hands and get shut of her in some clean way...and then when Darl seen the it looked like one of us would have to do something, I can almost believe he done right in a way”. In everyone else's perspective they thought that Darl was crazy, not because he was crazy, but because him being sent away would be good for them. Anse’s perspective is based on the fact that he can't afford to be sued by Gillespie.
Gillespie knew that Darl set fire to his barn and the only way he wasn't going to sue them is if Darl is declared mental. “It ain’t nothing else to do. It was either send him to Jackson or have Gillespie sue us, because he knowed some way that Darl set fire to it”. Cash explains that there was nothing else they can do but get sued so declaring Darl to be crazy is the better option. In Dewey Dell’s precpection she declared him crazy because she hates him for knowing her secret.
Dewey Dell resents Darl so much because he is the only one who knows her secret. She wants to kill him but sending him of is the next best thing so her secret can be
safe. and that is why the way we view ourselves trought our eyes is the truer one. Because, other people’s perspective could be out of their opinion and selfish motives. As we can see everyone's perspective on Darl being crazy is effected by their own hatred and opinions. Anse is so selfish and labeled darl crazy because its better then him being sued for burning the barn and they had no money so thats the only option. Dewey Dell hates him so much and jewel hates him so much so they all said he was crazy.

...a good result. However, Dewey Dell shows signs of motherly actions when she "... tears a piece of paper from the package and wipes the cement from the top of it as it drips from Cash's leg" (Faulkner 208). Dewey Dell shows a surprising amount of maternal instinct when she finds out Vardaman saw Darl light the Gillespie's barn on fire. Vardaman was just being the typical, curious boy when he gained knowledge of Darl's wrongdoings. In a protective manner, Dewey Dell warned Vardaman as he explains "... I saw something that Dewey Dell says I mustn't tell nobody" (Faulkner 225). Another example of Dewey Dell assuming a protective, motherly role occurs when Jewel and a townsman have an altercation. Dewey Dell attempts to shield Jewel from the dispute. All of these examples along the Bundren's journey depict Dewey Dell maturing and evolving into a motherly figure.
Rejected by his mother, Darl exhibited signs throughout the novel of an ego at odds with itself; lacking a definitive way of identifying himself. He demonstrated in his narratives detailed descriptions of events but rarely did he reveal any emotional attachment to his subjects. When they are trying to cross the flooded Yoknapatawpha River, Darl was useless in trying to save the wagon or Addie's coffin. Later, when they stayed at Gillespie's place, he set the barn on fire where Addie's coffin was, supposedly to end the journey with Addie's decomposing corpse.
Liesl is a significantly motivating character, that aids Dunstan to cope with and accept his guilt. The play “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry has many interesting characters. In my opinion, the most fascinating character is Ruth because of her many emotions and captivating personality. She goes through extreme emotions in the play such as happiness, sadness, anger, stress, and confusion. Ruth is very independent, firm, kind, witty, and loving.
... other children in the family. He is just mad that Jewel got most of the attention that he felt that he deserved. Darl feels like he got cheated. Darl resents his mother for not loving him as much as Jewel. All he wanted was acceptance and love, which he never got. It may have even driven him crazy. Jewel doesn’t show outward emotions, like Darl, so he may have even thought that Jewel didn’t appreciate the love his mother gave him. It probably made him even more upset that he probably didn’t show her affection back. In one chapter, he even states that he doesn’t have a mom; he says “I haven’t got ere one… Because if I had one, it is was. And if it was was, it can’t be is” (101). Darl’s relationship to Dewey Dale is also very awkward. Neither of them really talk about their feelings toward one another, although Darl is the only one who knows Dewey Dale is pregnant.
In the book As I Lay Dying the author, William Faulkner, writes about a family on a quest to bury their mother/wife, Addie. Darl, a narrator and son to the mother, ends up being put into an asylum by the end of their quest for trying to burn down a barn that housed the coffin carrying Addie. It is ironic that Darl ends up in an asylum since there are multiple clues within the text that address his sanity, though it is never stated.
Thalia had put off telling Dally her secret for a long time. She only had so much time to tell the gang before, well, she couldn't.
