Responsibility, the state or fact of being accountable or to blame for something. Responsibility is something that everyone has experienced and most likely it's been easier said than done.. Everyone has been held responsible for something in there life but the real question is, can they handle it and if not can they make up for it?
Responsibility is a characteristic that is distributed throughout the novel, the kite runner mentioned it numerous times yet a certain character in the book had immense difficulty handling it leading to him regretting many of his actions later in his life. This characteristic that has been certainly conveyed in the book has a deeper meaning than most of us interpret it as and should be observed carefully so that
we learn from someone who made a mistake from it so that we don't do the same. I believe the character that had trouble with this characteristic was Amir. Amir is the protagonist of this novel and is the character that readers get to deeply understand his conflicts and internal feelings, he has a very close playmate by the name of Hassan whose bond with him is almost unexplainable due to the strength of it, which in my opinion cause him to have a strong lack of responsibility. Amir relies on Hassan in his daily life, Hassan does everything Aamir tells him and takes responsibility for Amir's actions which is the reason why amir lacks responsibility. this could be cited when amir says, “Then i understood: This was Hassan’s final sacrifice for me. if he’d said no, Baba would have beleived him becasue we all knew Hassan never lied. An d if Baba beleived him, Then i’d e the accused: i would have to explain and i would be revealed for what i really was. Baba would never, ever forgive me. This also displays the passion Amir has for his father and how it correlates so much with responsibity for it led to him to lack it.
Responsibility may be defined as "a form of trustworthiness; the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct." (www.thefreedictionary.com) Responsibility is shown all through Fred Gipsons novel Old Yeller about a family living in the dangerous wilderness in 1860. The young hard working Travis, his loving mother and the loyal dog Old Yeller all show responsibility.
Responsibility is a lot of different things and has many different parts. One part of responsibility is social responsibility. Social responsibility is being responsible for people, for the actions of people, and for actions that affect people. Social responsibility is about holding a group, organization, or company accountable for its effect on the people around it. When you do the wrong thing, many people pay for it, especially everyone that you know.
Redemption is gaining honor and self-forgiveness through a selfless act that reflects off of one’s regretful actions of their past. In the novel, The Kite Runner, Amir is the main character who goes through many life struggles and mistakes, then finds himself on a road to redemption. Amir and Hassan were best friends throughout their childhood and Hassan was the honorable, trusting best friend, the one to always take a stand for what he believed was right. Amir’s lack of courage caused him to stay silent in the worst of times, letting Hassan get tortured for the things he did not deserve. The themes of sacrifice, honor and redemption are carried out in many ways throughout this novel being shown through the actions of Hassan, Baba, and Amir.

In the novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini guilt and redemption play a big role in the development of characters as well as their personalities. Throughout the novel Amir always had a sense of guilt. Amir’s sense of guilt stems from how he did not stick up for his best friend Hassan when Assef assaulted him. The guilt played a very important role in how Amir was characterized and how his personality changed towards everyone. Throughout the novel Amir was consistently trying to find redemption through various ways, he felt like the assault was his fault and he wanted to get punished so it would end his guilt. Leaders have responsibilities to their people; a responsibility to protect and to nurture them. Leaders can reject their citizens needs because they believe that their wants are more important end up destroying the very society they rule. As shown in the novel Lord of the Flies when Jack rejects his responsibility of nurturing and giving the boys a home because he believes his lust for power, which provides him with a sense of security, is more important than the needs of the boys for affection and protection, allowing him to use the boys as objects to accomplish his own desires. This eventually leads to the destruction of society.
Guilt. A cancerous thing, spreading through your body, manipulating your thoughts, working as a deterrent for any type of long term vivacity. As seen in Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner one of the main themes is seeking redemption. We see that in order to seek redemption and earn it, you must have the self-motivation deeper than other people pushing you.
In Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner we follow the evolution of a young boy Amir to manhood trying to overcome his guilty past to become a guilt free adult. A young Afghani boy named Amir is overcome with guilt and dismay over a rape that he witnessed involving his best friend. Throughout the entire novel, we witness how this impacted Amir and how it causes him to act very immature. Still to this day he struggles with what he did not do in efforts to stop the rape and comes to terms with what he did. Amir then moves to America and still has issues with coming to the realization that he does not help his best friend and stand up for what he believes in. Amir is fearful of what could have happened if
Sometimes life presents with certain choices that are conflicting to make, both choices fulfill our desires, but they restrict one another from being purely beneficial. During the events of The Kite Runner Amir is presented with many “conflicting” decisions, and therefore being forced to make sacrifices that will affect him for the rest of his life. Whether it is as small as sacrificing quality time with your family to hang out with your friends or something much more severe, we are presented with conflicting decisions daily.
Narrative is also used as a way of controlling the passage of time. Hosseini uses a stream of consciousness during the rape scene in order to slow down time. Here the protagonist tries his best to block the horrific scenes presented before him by evoking endless, yet irrelevant thoughts. By a replacement of the present with thoughts from the past, Hosseini effectively lengthens the scene, which helps the reader to better understand and even share the same pain and anguish felt by Amir.
“Responsibility is the state or fact of being accountable or to blame for something. Being responsible means having an obligation to do something, or having control over or care for someone, as part of one's job or role.” “Being responsible means being the primary cause of something, and so able to be blamed or credited for it.” This is what the dictionary says, responsibility, and being responsible means. To me, responsibility means nearly the same as the dictionary, taking blame, or being accountable for something. To me, being responsible means being entrusted with something, and fulfilling that trust, and if you are not able to fulfill that trust, then taking the blame for that.
