Recommended: The influence of media on society

Shipwrecked was a 1 and a half hour play that told the story of the life of Louis de Rougemont. The play was very interesting how all the events transpired. The actual play itself had three people, but they were playing multiple roles. Two of them would alternate between different roles while one of them stayed Louis de Rougemont the whole entire play. What we learned towards the end this that media can label anything anyway the want to. No matter how true it may me if the media wants you to think it’s false it will be false. Shipwrecked was meant to be a comedy, and so it was, a very entertaining one at that. A Lot of puns and jokes had me giggling throughout the whole entire play. They had a lot of energy and life when they spoke to the crowd and each other. There was never a dull moment on stage they seemed to be enjoying themselves and so was I. The performers played the individual roles, excellently. They executed each characters flawlessly, without mistake. What made it even better was that there were only 3 actors. I applaud them for their hard work, although it was very interesting and amusing seeing them change characters right in front of our eyes it was quite a spectacle. Overall the performance was superb. I don’t know how Louis de Rougemont did it, but he managed to memorized that much dialogue in such a short amount of time. I think that was truly magnificent. I saw the way each performer was sweating and that’s what I like to see, because that means they’re actually working really hard. Watching the play there were a few moment when i asked myself if this was a comedy, because I almost felt bad for Louis de Rougemont. The part where he was stranded and just wanted to get off the island. Also when his dog died, and the worst part of all, when everybody stopped believing his adventures including the little boy who looked up to him. Those were really sad moments but in all I think it was a very funny play and I enjoyed it. I think it was a great

    The production had many elements which for the most part formed a coalition to further the plot. The characters, the three part scenery and costumes represented well the period of time these people were going through. As far as the performers entering and exiting the stage, it could have been more organized. There were a few times when the performers exited at the wrong times or it seemed so due to the echo of the music. At certain moments the music was slightly loud and drowned the performers. Many of the songs dragged on, so the pacing could have been more effectively executed. Though the music was off at times, the director's decision to have most of the songs performed center sage was a wise one. Also the implementation of actual white characters that were competent in their roles came as a great surprise to the audience and heightened the realism.

    Every performance was presented with charm. The flashing, changing colors seem to go along with the performances. The director was humorous. The performers outfits were on point too. I liked the color coding of the vocalists, Jeremy, Jordan, and Rowan. Also, Julie wore a pretty suede dress and had a great voice. It was nice to see her come out for the 2nd time to sing. When Spencer kept playing his saxophone in some of the performances, it was just amazing. Some of my favorite performances were Sittin on the Dock of the Bay, Ain’t too Proud to Beg, In a Sentimental Mood, and more. It really made me feel like I was in New Orleans all over again.
