A basic of Disney theme parks is the Main Street USA zone. This section features highly in all of the parks, usually coming right after the entrance. Key services like Guest Relations are located in this section, inside the "City Hall" (HK Disney Source, 2014). There are a number of elements to the Main Street, USA exhibit, and these will be discussed along with the history of Main Street USA in this paper. In particular, how the different elements of Main Street USA work together are covered. The concept has proven to be long-lasting, even across cultures, because of its magical portrayal of idealized American life, which draws heavily on Walt Disney's own childhood experiences.
Ruby pier is different from the modern day, sleek, refined powerhouse of American amusement parks. Ruby pier is more of a cheap fun way to experience a fun day off or a date whereas modern day amusement parks are day long commitments meant to maximise profits and provide a more focused and in depth experience pertaining to the parks “theme”.
The start of what we now know as Disneyland began when Walt Disney had the idea of creating a miniature show outside of his Burbank studio. After the studio underwent authoritative changes during World War II, Walt Disney turned his interest to miniature trains, collecting and even creating his own models. He became transfixed with miniaturized models that then progressed into the idea of having a train circumventing the Burbank studio through landscapes featuring different cultural scenes such as a village and an opera house. Due partially to the Burbank authorities hostility toward the idea and partially to Walt Disney’s expansive plans, the park was moved to Anaheim, California (Chytry 265). The idea was to create a gigantic movie set, a way to transport park goers into different thematic time periods including historically inspired buildings on Main Street and futuristic rides in Tomorrowland, each land a part of an imaginative, carefree world that would be inviting to people of all ages.
Mission San Juan Capistrano, historic landmark and museum, is the Birthplace of Orange County. It was founded more than two hundred years ago as the 7th of 21 missions in California and features a chapel still standing where Saint Serra once celebrated Mass. Today, it is a monument to California’s multi-cultural history, embracing its Native American, Spanish, Mexican and European heritage. Originally built as a self sufficient community by Spanish Padres and Native Americans, the Mission was a center for agriculture, industry, education and religion. Famous for the Return of the Swallows, Mission San Juan Capistrano’s nickname is the “Jewel of the California Missions” and welcomes over 300,000 visitors each year.
Before 1700, Californians lived in the mountains, deserts, and the coast. Natives who lived in mountains and valleys hunted deer, elk, bears, and other animals. They gathered acorns, berries, and seeds. People who lived near the coast ate fish, shellfish, seaweed, and sea mammals for food. Desert dwellers ate pinons nuts, yucca roots, and a cactus plant fruit. They adapted to the way of life in the mission. Mountain natives built houses from poles. They would bend the poles to make a cone shape. Desert dwellers would make their house from Adobe. Natives living near the coast make their houses out of straw.
The clubs may pack in thousands of dancers and twenty something’s, but the boardwalk still commands the real tourism with its booths, games and rides that have been staples here since the turn of the century. The carousel alone has been in the same place since 1932 and is the jewel of only two existing at the Jersey Shore.

As every American knows Disneyland, "Happiest place on earth", but many people do not know much about the person behind Disneyland, Walt Elias Disney. Disney is best known for his many successes, such as famous movies like The Lion King, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, and The Little Mermaid. Disney is also known for the most famous amusement park in America, Disneyland and California Adventure (depends on who you are asking, Disneyland is the original park), for all ages to forget about reality, for children to be children, and adults to become the children they once were. However, people from around the world only see and hear of Disney's successes. What people are forgetting is how Disney became famous. As a child Disney had
The city of Santa Cruz, originally named San Lorenzo, was discovered in 1769 by the Spanish explorer Gaspar de Portolà. The city continued to expand and eventually became known as Santa Cruz, meaning "Holy Cross", in honour of the local mission. By the 1820s Mexico had assumed control of the area and Americans began to arrive in great numbers over the next thirty years. California became a state in 1850, and Santa Cruz County was created as one of the twenty-seven original counties.
My perception of the State Fair was one filled with amazement and adventure. The loud music of the rides and the familiar, huge crowds overwhelmed me with excitement. Unfortunately, I was forcibly taken, by my parents, to watch the World Championship Horse Show in Freedom Hall. At such a young age, I was not interested in seeing the next world champion horse make the show of his or her life. In my mind, the horse show was a waste of good ferris-wheel time. My parents usually set aside an afternoon in which they, with long-suffering faces, would indulge me in my fair frenzy. For these few hours, we waded into the jostling crowds, surrounded by the screams of thrill-seekers, the cacophony of bells and whistles, and the powerful smells of fair cuisine. To me, these were the best sights and sounds on earth.
In the 1840’s is was just a natural park nothing really special. That was for people to get some fresh air and take a walk around the park. In the 1900’s the city started making building on the beach sides. At the time the beach wasnt that big. After the war coney island became very popular. This had happened for several reasons, such as having air conditioning in movie theaters. People loved that for those hot summer days. Also they started to build roller coasters, and people were very attracted to them. People in that time period didn't really see rollercoasters all the time like we
The story is set in Britain during the post-World War era. The family is led by a mother and father who earned little income, but lived as though they were held in high society. “They lived in a pleasant house, with a garden, and they had discreet servants, and felt themselves superior to anyone in the neighborhood. Although they lived in style, they felt always an anxiety in the house. There was never enough money.” (Kennedy & Gioia, 2012, Lawrence p. 235) Lawrence shows a repetitive theme of the family never having enough money. The stress portrayed on the three children proved to be strenuous and the mother seemed to have little regard for the children. “Only she herself knew that at the center of her heart was a hard little place that could not feel love, no, not for anybody.” (Kennedy & Gioia, 2012, Lawrence p. 235) The life events portrayed in this story are displayed in recognizable English settings which allow for the audience to have tangible attachments to the different horse race events. The mood of the story is generally dark and dreary, especially for the mother’s son Paul, whose only wish is to help provide for his family. While he tried to think of ways to earn money, he rode on his toy rocking horse in his room. It ended up entrancing him and he attained a sort of magical power to pick winning horse races, but utterly lead to his death. (Kennedy &
