Manoj Bhargava, until recent years, lived a life as a philanthropic ninja. He’s humanitarian and went as far as giving 90%-99% of his company’s profit to charities and movements he leads himself for a better world. However, when we say “Manoj Bhargava”, there’s not a lot of people who recognize him for the good things he does for the world or don’t recognize him at all until someone tells them that he’s the founder of 5-Hour Energy. I chose Manoj Bhargava because he doesn’t get the appreciation he deserves for the passion and work he puts into helping others. There’s a lot of people around the world who live their lives without being rightfully recognized for the things that they do for this world, and Bhargava is one of those individuals that deserves the spotlight. …show more content…
Coming into the States as an immigrant young boy, he was never a character to back down a challenge.
He was able to adjust quickly judging by his acceptance to Princeton. However, he realized that college wasn’t for him and he went back to India to become a vagabond monk for 12 years. His spiritual journey and witnessing the struggles of his homeland must have triggered a passion to help others. His personal philosophy stems a lot from his spiritual background. Even though now some people could see his business life as a violation of his beliefs, Bhargava still continues the same spiritual practice by giving his hard-earned money away in order to help others. He believes that if someone has wealth, it’s their duty to use it for the benefit of others rather than to overindulge for
yourself. One of the most admirable things about Bhargava is that he genuinely focuses on helping others, even if it means he falls extremely short in his own personal life. His film is not a form of him handing out his hands for people to pay but to raise awareness and get government officials to notice. When people saw his pledge of 90% of his profits to charities, they thought he was ridiculous. They asked him why he would go to such drastic measures and wonder why he wouldn’t indulge the money that he made like most other philanthropists. Bhargava claims he doesn’t have expensive hobbies and doesn’t have much interest in buying more than he needs to live comfortably. People tell him to leave some money to his son but Manoj is the type of person who understands that too much easy money can ruin his son’s life, so he just decided to help others than to bring the long-term demise of his son. Giving money isn’t the only thing he does for the world. He doesn’t believe in staying still and letting other people do his work, he makes things happen. There are countless projects that he has executed that’s helped people locally in the States and internationally. Converting polluted water into water suitable for drinking, to a medical device to promote good blood flow, all the way to an efficient, pollution-free bicycle system to provide free electricity for impoverished countries—they’re all projects he’s led to help others. He found himself frustrated that his monetary donations was making little impact on poverty and root causes of related health issues. Instead of doing nothing, he worked towards change. Sure, he doesn’t donate nearly at face value as much as other significantly richer philanthropists. His net worth is half of what Bill Gates and Warren Buffet so how could he? However, overall in his lifetime he’s donated a larger portion of his own total wealth than anybody else to forward the wellness of the world. Isn’t that someone who deserves to be known? Altruistic and someone who truly finds joy in helping others, Manoj Bhargava earned to get the proper recognition he deserves.
“It is your reaction to adversity, not the adversity itself, that determines how you life’s story will develop” (Dieter F. Uchtdorf). Most people can deal with difficulties, but their reactions to the hardships are different. Only some people can manage their problems. We should try to manage our behaviors in tough situations. If we can deal with our situations, we can overcome difficulties easily. In the story of Farewell to Manzanar written by Jeanne Wakatsuki, the story shows how war can change humans, their life, and their ranks. Although all of the characters of her book face the same problems due to the war and the camps they had to live in, they responded to those situations differently. All of them presented
Siddhartha grew up near a river as a Brahmin, though he gives his offerings spiritually, he becomes unsatisfied with the life that he is living. His life is too simple for him. “He brought joy to all,...But Siddhartha did not bring joy to himself.”

As Kenyan mother once said, “My dreams don’t look exactly like I thought they would when I was a little girl” (nd). Jacqueline Novogratz, a modern philanthropist, understands this better than most. A typical American girl, she found herself in Africa, helping women with no voice in their world. She never planned for this growing up, but her leadership, determination, and new way of looking at the world was in her from the beginning.
...ancer research. “The Jimmy V Foundation” was created and is forever changing cancer research today. Over 100 million dollars has been generated thus far and there will be no stopping there. James Valvano influenced us all that life has it challenges but emphasizes that dreams really do come true if you really want to grab it, take it and never let go. So how do we take Valvano’s words and use them as a stepping-stone to get back in focus in the positive direction? For Jimmy it did not matter if he was terribly weak or at the end of his life but he was able to have found strength to continue his ambitious fight. For the rest of us no matter how tired we are from a tough day at work, long day at school, or economic woes we can take what Jimmy has preached to us, and though adversity we can make changes to ourselves to better prepare us for the present, and the future.
Bharat Bhattarai is just an average guy in America, but he is the greatest hero of them all. He had to go through the toughest part of a person’s live, losing a parent. Not only did Bharat Bhattarai lose his father, he also lost the hero of his life. In some instances people can lose their mind and go crazy after losing their loved ones. But this was not the case for Bharat Bhattarai as filled all the negatives moments with the positive ones which kept him strong during the most tragic moment of his life. Like specified before, it is well to think positively and not negatively, which helped Bharat Bhattarai turn into a great hero by considering the other friends and family in his life, which made him understand that they will need him to be stronger than any other time at the deplorable minute, which is precisely what he did, by realizing that he has two elementary school who see him as the greatest hero in his eyes, and cannot let that feeling change by going crazy. He did not always have those days where he was super strong and proceed on ward, on a few days he would have contemplations that would make him super pitiful but none the less he would constantly beat those moments by recalling the greatest things that his father taught his which was to be strong, “never give up and to not lose to or give in to anything in life no matter how bad the situation may be” (Bhattarai). These are exactly what he did, and helped him sustain the extraordinary measure of mettle that most normal individuals do not have. So not only was Bharat Bhattarai calm during the saddest moments of his lives change the world of his two kids with his amazing courage, he became a hero for his loved ones and did this by remembering that everything in life is not filled with hate and that many things in life can feel different with a

Bill Gates is now helping people in developing countries get water and an education full time. He created what is called the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. “In 2008 he left the company to devote himself full-time to his charity the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation”(Harris 1). He has worked his whole life to get the success and money that he has today and instead of keeping it to himself he has given it back to society in many generous ways. He also is helping developing countries with their needs that aren't accessible to them. “They helped vaccinate African and Asian children against diseases like polio and malaria. And they have been very successful in helping get rid of these diseases for good.”(Harris 1). This foundation helped poorer countries get the medical help they need to get rid of illnesses that should have already been gone by now. Bill and his wife had had an impact on the world by doing these things
Whenever I read the heroic deeds performed by any woman in any part of the world, I get inspired from their story. Every woman can be a hero in their own way, even with the smallest of actions that they perform in their routine life. Only recently I was watching the movie biopic made on Neerja Bhanot, the youngest recipient of the “Ashok Chakra Award” and I couldn’t say how awe-inspiring the story was for the women out there. The most important thing I learnt from the movie was “You should not do any bad things in life and neither should you have a high tolerance for them if you see anything bad is happening around
Gregor Mendel, born as Johann Mendel, is considered to be one of the most significant historic scientist of all time. He was an Austrian scientist and monk and is best known as the “Father of Modern Genetics.” He founded the science of genetics and discovered many things that dealt with heredity that still applies to our world today. He is remembered for paving the way for scientists and future generations to come. Unfortunately, Mendel’s work went unnoticed until 16 years after his death and 34 years after he published his research. Though Mendel lay covered in his grave, his work would eventually be uncovered. Although Mendel was not there to see it,
Many people, organizations and awards have already acknowledged Gandhi for his efforts. Recently he was rated the runner up Person of the Century second only to the great scientist Albert Einstein who had himself said that “ the future generations will scarcely believe that such a man in flesh and blood, had tread this earth.” in reference to Mahatma Gandhi. The British Broadcasting Corporation also voted him as the Man of the Millennium. Gandhi is a great man held in universal esteem, a figure lifted from history to moral icon.
The literature of India spans many millennia, describing a variety of lifestyles, traditions, and culture across a large and diverse area, written in dozens of languages. Famous works originating from India include poetry, scriptures, novels, and epics, all of which were originally written in different languages, ranging from ancient Sanskrit, Hindi, English, and many more regional dialects. The two most notable Hindu epics, Ramayana and the Mahabharata, are the most well known throughout the country of India. ("India's Epics, Ancient & Modern.") These two stories, which bear great similarities to Western works such as Homer’s Odyssey and the Bible, tell a tale of kingdoms and gods which contain many themes central to Hinduism, such as dharma and karma.
