Theology is something that I have been blessed to experience and converse about multiple times in my life. My parents enrolled me into a Catholic elementary school where theology was common for the elder children. The first time I can recall diving into theology is the sixth grade. My priest visited the class and spoke about a complex topic in the Christian religion. He expected the class to respond and talk about the topic using arguments that are biblically based. This became my first exposure to basic, but real, theology. When arguments spawned out of these conversations, I tried to be in the mix of it all. Out of these arguments came a love for theology that I nurtured at home, school, and within myself.
A large amount of families do not talk about theology in a home environment. Luckily, my father and I have a strong love for talking about theology. Every other night, if not every night, we would mull the end times described in Revelations or the grace and mercy of The Lord. He will never know how much I truly enjoyed those discussions and how much it will help me to understand this college theology class. I loved my father because he achieved his obligation not only to simply teach me about the Bible, but plant a desire in my heart to understand the Bible as a whole and to acquire more information about theology.
As mentioned above, I attended a Catholic elementary school for nine

He assigned all of us different highways to drive, but they all converge in the same city. I believe He assigned each of us the same task to be performed in different ways. That task is to love God above everything and then to love everyone else and bring as many to heaven as one can. My purpose would be to gather as many people as I possibly can in my chosen profession to join God in His perfect kingdom. I firmly believe that this is the purpose of life that God has called every human to try and
In the first half of Theology 104, we went over many different topics. All these topics gave me a wonderful and better understanding of Theology and Christianity. I got a better understanding of Jesus claiming to be God, as well as our character development and how it plays a very vital part of our lives as Christians. By asking Jesus into our lives, we will be highly rewarded. For this I am
We were designed for one purpose, to honor and love our creator (Matthew 6:24). When we look at ourselves, and others we find that we each have individual humanistic characteristics. Each with different thoughts of how we perceive God and what we think he wants from us. By using our talents and gifts wisely and just we are giving praise back to our creator (1 Timothy 6:17).
After seeing though the eyes of my pastor I’ve come to realize the importance of faith and committing to one’s beliefs. Returning to church after two massive losses has helped my mother in many ways and it has also taught me as a young man how small things that I could do would turn to have a big impact on someone’s life the same way my pastor impacted my life and the life of my siblings.
In this paper two topic from the Psychology and Spirituality course will be discussed in regards to spirituality and their influence on my personal life. I will examine how I have grown and what I have learned from the week on Spring Lake ranch and how I wish to continue moving forward in my attempt to be spiritual and build a closer relationship to God.
As far as mankind’s history can date, religion has had quite an intimate relationship with people. Although maybe it hasn’t always been identified in the same way as we identify religion today, spread across the world we have the remains of pyramids, temples, and even written in ancient texts from centuries ago dedicated to god, to the afterlife, to what lies on the other side. And up to today’s times, religion has grown along with man.
God has created me with a specific purpose and with God’s help I know I can discover my true calling. Every one of us has three specific callings:
Daniel Migliore states, “Theology, is the continuous process of inquiry that is prompted both by the surprising grace of God and by the distance between the promise of God’s coming reign … and our experience of brokenness of human life. When we, as a community invest in our theological understandings and explore the Biblical, historical and philosophical details of a text, we can continue to hear God’s guidance and examine our faithfulness to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our faith, trust and confidence, must propel us to seek understanding, prompt us to listen and submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit. Our faith allows us to laugh, sing, suffer, rejoice, confess, hope, act with a passion that allows us to receive freedom from God, who loves
Purpose, the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. Each person at one time or another has asked themselves why do I exist. Intrinsically instilled in us exist an inner yearning to be used in a higher purpose. We all desire to live as productive citizens in the Kingdom of God by having a purpose in the world which we live. Even the O.T. character Adam yearned for more than just being alive. After God created Adam, he gifts Adam with an ability to name all His creation in Genesis 2:19-20. God discerned that Adam desired to have purpose. God understood that man needed a purpose greater than just living. People must have a vision or else they will perish. To receive your vision in Christ instills the greatest
The religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are alike in many ways but they also share many differences. Judaism and Christianity use the bible in their holy scriptures, while Islam does not. Jesus Christ is a part of all three religions as Christianity and Islam developed from Judaism. Many believe that the three religions worship, pray to, and focus on the same god. They believe this as many of the prophets are they share much in common as they share many beliefs. However, the followers of the three religions pray differently and in different places. the religions believe that their god created the world and everything in the world. The three Abrahamic religions have different histories, yet they share many similarities and difference.
Our main goal is to present everyone fully mature in Christ. (Col. 1:28) we warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. (1 Th. 5:14-15) We pray for them (Jam. 5:13-16) and help them to recognize and repent for their sins. (Matt.
A spirit is something that may be felt in the essence of the world but ultimately guides understanding into the meaning of life. Spirituality is often perceived in different ways by different cultures, religions, families, or even the individual. Often, the common theme that spirituality focuses on something greater than the physical world and allows people to feel connected to what it truly means to be a human on earth.
...ollowing in my sister's footsteps, I began learning from her experiences. We tread lightly around the subject of the religion these days. Thankfully, there are no wild debates at the dinner table on holidays. We respect one another's beliefs and agree to disagree about them. She often tells me, "You should come to my church!" when I call her seeking sisterly advice or needing a sympathetic ear. I have attended her church and admire how she's strengthened her parish and community. That's more inspirational to me than any Sunday sermon - as she is one who sincerely lives in the word, even when it's difficult for her.
Everyone has a purpose and a calling in life, and it is our duty to find what that
Before beginning my first semester here at Vanguard I often found myself questioning why I believe what I believe. I had a hard time understanding the bible and an even harder time finding answers to my questions. It was difficult for me to find the courage to ask questions because I didn’t want to come off as someone who didn’t know everything about the bible. Once I started my freshman year I began understanding that I am not alone, every one has questions or things that they don’t quite understand. Encountering The New Testament broke down parts of the bible and made it much easier for me to understand.
...elieve in, I was still able to keep an open mind to those concepts because there is a larger group of people in this world where those beliefs are preached every day. Even though I have a superficial understanding of the Catholic religion, I learned a lot about how different cultures can take that religion and add their specific beliefs onto it, without making it universally accepted as a practice.
