For the end of this course, we were instructed to use some cleaning materials that we had read about during the lab's course. For my assignment, I do not own two of the same type of weapons. I won a Colt LE 6920 (safe Queen), Taurus PT111 Millennium, and a Heritage Arms .22 lr revolver. For this assignment I chose to use the revolver, and polymer pistol.
I initially received my Heritage .22 lr as a gift from this past Christmas. While this weapon is brand new, it has not received it's initial cleaning. I left the Cosmoline on it until I am ready to clean it, and take it to the range. I remember reading more than a few times about brake cleaner being used to clean just about everything on a gun. I do have some Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber,
The Book “Fist Stick Knife Gun” by Geoffrey Canada is a biographical account of his childhood in the south Bronx. He and his 4 brothers were raised by only their mother. She would survive on no more than ten dollars a week. He moved several times as a child until finally landing on union avenue, the place were many of his life lessons were learned and at times applied. He learned about the ranking process of kids on union Ave. and how the only way to improve your status was to use your fists to fight your way up the chain. Looking back Geoffrey Canada notices the major shift in attitudes concerning the rules of the streets. What once was harmless fist fighting has now turned over to guns. His opinions can be seen in his title “Fist Stick Knife Gun”.
In Firearms: A Global History to 1700, Kenneth Chase investigates why Europe perfected firearms when the Chinese invented them. Kenneth Chase is an attorney at law who received his PhD in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University. He uses primary sources in the form of texts and paintings as well as secondary sources in this monograph to trace the origin and spread of firearms. He also uses these sources to characterize militaries and determine why they used or did not use firearms. Chase dismisses the notion that the discrepancy between Eastern and Western firearms development was the result of cultural aversion. If anything, he argues that Europeans were more averse to firearms due to its association to Satan and a general
Guns, Germs, and Steel was published by Jared Diamond in 1977. Diamond is a UCLA professor and a scientist and his book has received remarkable response all around the world, in fact the book has won Pulitizer Prizer and was New York’s bestseller. Despite, of being highly regarded, the book is known as one of the most controversial book of its time. A lot critics has accused this book but the critic which stood out the most was William H. McNeill. McNeill is a historian and I agree with his criticism regarding the book and its conclusion.
In his article “Gun debate? What gun debate?” Mark O 'Mara discuses the controversial issue of gun control. O’Mara takes the tragic school shooting in Oregon as an opportunity to voice his opinion on the debate of guns. He clearly states his position and explains that gun violence has increased enormously because of the lack of command by the government and support from the public to speak out against it. O’Mara claims the issue is no longer a debate because it is so evident that guns have become a significant problem in this country and therefore actions must be taken to control and govern gun laws. In his article he attempts to raise awareness to the severity of the issue and tries to persuade his readers to take a stance against gun violence
In the frequently lawless country that the United States had become, a quicker solution for combat was deemed necessary. It did not take long for such handguns as the 1873 Colt Peacemaker to emerge as the weapon of choice for gunfighter, cowboy, sheriff or civilian. Fighting men everywhere considered the peacemaker’s balance and durability superior to that of other revolvers of the day, and they expressed their appreciation by clamoring for a variety of versions – some decorative or modified for a fast draw, others were plain, but all were lethal (Trachtman et al 43). With a growing consideration of violence, many Americans rushed to buy them in large quantities, often through the mail.

With gun control being one of the most substantial controversies of modern times, many influential figures have risen to support stances on the matter. On February first of 2013, a man by the name of Sam Harris wrote an article for “The WEEK” on the matter titled, “Why I own guns” in which he illustrates his beliefs as to why a rational person should own firearms. Sam Harris is a New York Times bestselling author, a gun rights activist, and possesses a degree in philosophy from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Harris believes that “rational” people should possess firearms for protection, as he states that “a person with a gun can make all the difference.” (Harris) To support

If you are doubtful about what you are seeing, then do not dust for prints just submit the firearm to the lab for examination. Personally delivering the evidence to the lab is preferred. A loaded firearm have a special case to be transported in. If being sent through the mail, it must be unloaded and packaged securely. Also make a sketch of the area that all evidence is recovered from. Make sure to include the location measurements. The serial number should be recorded as well as photographed. Older firearms do not serial numbers so they are to be tagged and pictures taken very well.
There is nothing better then realizing that each indigenous people evolved into something better or that they found ways to survive in situations they weren’t use too. There were many changes that happened over time that cause for situations to change for everyone around them. But it also has helped with being able to progress with the way they lived. Jared diamond the author of Guns, Germs and Steel interpret his famous theory oh how we came to be. How the geography luck helped each country developed more rapidly than others as well as being able to expand more. However they also had geography luck when it came to how many advantages they had with the technology nevertheless, germs also was a big part of how the conquered most of the lands because it would kill instantly millions of european and
A solution to assault style weapons and large capacity magazines. I would like to see a full ban on large capacity magazines as their practicality for civilian use is minimal. For assault style weapons using the AR 15 as reference. I believe a stricter protocol for selling these weapons could be helpful, as many other countries have implemented stricter gun laws have they have proven successful. I would propose that for someone to obtain a semi-automatic rifle the buyer should go through a mental health evaluation and, a firearms safety test along with a waiting period before you physically can obtain the firearm. This would be similar to obtaining a driver's license but, for that specific gun.

So from the video I see that I am pretty much doing my cleaning in the same manner. Now, I use different cleaning products. I am in the army so we use CLP for everything and it hasn’t steered me wrong yet so I guess I will continue to use it on my own firearms. I’m not opposed to trying out new solvents, and will try
