This book was written to showcase and highlight Jefferson’s achievements and create a standard of literature about Jefferson that others will compare it to. This book showcases Jefferson’s life all the way from his early childhood to him signing the declaration of independence. He reflects to show Jefferson as the man Americans need to see him as: Strong, Confident, Resourceful, Smart, and Loyal. All these things describe Thomas Jefferson to a “T” in the book.
Well Jefferson’s life started “in a simple wooden house in what is now Albemarle County, Virginia”. He was born on what historians say is April 13, 1743. Obviously this author is in favor of Jefferson because of how highly he speaks about him in the book. I also enjoyed the vocabulary and diction that the author uses throughout the book, it creates a bond between you and the book when you can connect with what the writer is discussing about. Some of the weaknesses in his book is that I did not care as much about reading the minor details of the life of Jefferson, in my opinion the book could have been made about 100 pages shorter if it cut out the unnecessary details that is not very important. Although I still enjoyed the book very well it was very educational to my learning about Jefferson and the life before his Presidency. It is so amazing how one man can do all these things and be so successful. Reading this book and learning about the life of Thomas Jefferson has really helped me in US History, I have learned many more facts about him and have seen just how mighty of a person and president he was. This book also showed me the steps and roles in history that Jefferson played such as being a lawyer in court system, showing how important our justice system is today, or becoming a governor of Virginia and paving a path to show others that if you want to follow your dreams and live a good honest life you will be able to achieve
