Communication 110: Persuasive Speech Preparation Outline
Title: Recycling should be mandatory.
Introduction
I. Attention Getter – How many of you recycle?
II. Preview: I am sure that everybody knows what is recycling. For those who don’t know recycling is the act of reusing. (Sponaugle, 2014) In this short speech, I will tell you why you should recycle?
First: Recycling saves energy?
Second: Recycling is good for the environment.
Third: Recycling is good for the economy.

Transition to Body – Let’s take a look at these one by one.
Body.
1. Energy saving.
According to the article published on 2016 July 21st, recycling saves energy by reducing or eliminating the need to make raw materials from scratch (Harmony, 2016). By recycling the products, it saves energy of producing the materials from scratch. Collecting materials, moving them and refining them is an expensive process. By recycling the manufacturers can reuse the old and useless products to make new and useful products. Jason Brennan said that “In 2003, the energy savings from recycling 54 billion aluminum cans exceeded the energy equivalent of 15 million barrels of crude oil – or the amount of gas the U.S. uses in one day.” (Brennan, 2017). People are getting employed for collecting and recycling materials. (stack of paper images) The United states recycle more paper than all other materials combined – excluding steel (National Geographic, 2015). These papers will be recycled at a plant Bordeaux, France. According to the article released by National Geographic, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power began dropping 3 million polyethylene balls into the Ivanhoe Reservoir in summer 2008.
