“I've been wearing lipstick since I was in 7th grade. That was our form of daring self-expression, because we had to wear uniforms in school. It made our teachers so angry”- Kourtney Kardashian. People try to find alternatives to make school uniforms look better. Not only her, but a lot of other people hate wearing school uniforms. They take away creativity, can cause bullying and are very costly. In all, school uniforms should not be enforced at Euclid High School. Why would students want to wear uniforms? The first reason school uniforms should not be allowed is that they aren't creative. School uniforms don’t allow students to dress and express themselves the way they want to. There are a lot of people who like to dress very fashionably
and uniforms don’t allow them to do that. When you are given a certain thing to wear you feel like your freedom is being taken away. No one would be able to express the type of clothing they like by being told what to wear. If you want to dress up in school for your birthday or any event like that you wouldn't be able to. You would just have to wear khaki bottoms and a navy polo shirt. To put it briefly, no school uniforms! The second reason school uniforms shouldn't be allowed is that they are expensive. Why buy a uniform, spending extra money when you could just wear the clothes you already have at home. Some parents don’t make enough money to afford to buy uniforms. Then, if someone sees you wearing the same uniform everyday they might make fun of you, which is never a good thing. School uniforms are also like a prickly cactus; they can be itchy. Students wouldn’t be able to concentrate when they aren’t in the comfort of their own clothes and school uniforms aren't warm in the winter. Therefore, no school uniforms! I say no school uniforms, but some people might argue that uniforms insure discipline and no disruptions in school. In my opinion, schools should only enforce something that helps students learn and school uniforms don't help students learn. They get students off task, if anything. They are uncomfortable clothes and no one can concentrate when they are uncomfortable. Resulting in no one being able to fully learn. A lot of people don't like to be cold and they would just have another excuse to stay at home. No school uniforms! Euclid High School does not need to bring about school uniforms. All in all, they take away our freedom, they take away our creativity, and they take away our money. They are just a waste of time and effort. What we can do is make sure that if the idea of uniforms comes up, complain about it and tell your parents do not vote on it.
Some high school students usually wear kind of clothes that are not really inappropriate at schools. Some girls dress really sexy with short skirts or crop tops that they can show their bodies. Also, boys sometimes wear shirts with bad words, slogans or pictures that relate to violence or bad things that may affect to other students. Therefore, if all students wear the same uniforms, teachers do not need to waste time on criticizing these students who dress inappropriately any more. Also, uniforms have school logo, so they remind students that they are studying at school and students more likely proud of their schools when they wear them. Furthermore, wearing uniforms makes the classes more formal and more
I think that children and teens should not have to wear school uniforms. It deprives them of their freedom of speech. Uniforms are believed to be degrading and appalling to most. Everything would be dull and boring if everyone looked the same and wore the same stuff. Some kids become stressed out and could get depressed because they cannot choose what they can wear, in our own country? The land of the free and the home of the brave and we can’t even choose what we wear? For the most part students would become angry and violent, and worst case scenario, suicide.
While some people think that school uniforms are a bad thing some people will disagree. When kids were their clothes into school this is when they start to judge each other. Some kids will be more mature than some, some will have a better dress sense, and some will have more money to deal with. What some people don’t want some children coming to school wearing fashionable new clothes and making fun of the ones that were hand me downs and will be embarrassed as a out coming result. With school uniforms every body is equal to each other (Lamouse, Mack).
Many people say wearing uniforms will infringe student’s freedoms, or rights. However, wearing uniforms in public school will do none of these. They just try to regulate all students so that they can achieve their goal and live a better life in the future. Besides that, students still have choice to wear whatever they want after class. Because of the advantage, wearing uniforms would offer such as positive environment, improves grades, behavior, and safety.Students enrolled in public schools should be required to wear a school uniform.
Kids use clothes to express the way they feel and making them wear a uniform is taking that away. School uniforms have been around for a long time. Most schools try to enforce the need of uniforms thinking it will help keep their students safer and better educated. Students shouldn’t have to wear uniforms for these three main reasons: some kids use clothes to express themselves and the uniform would take that away from them, uniforms cost a lot of money and some parents can’t afford it for their kids, doesn't really help with education.
Many parents believe that uniforms will only stifle the students creativity. They will not be allowed to freely express themselves with the colors that they wear as well as the clothing itself. If a child is feeling particularly happy that day, he or she may want to wear their favorite outfit to express themselves and the way that they feel. If all students wear uniforms, the entire school will all look exactly the same, which takes away all creativity and suppresses individuality.
In conclusion, students shouldn’t be able to wear uniforms. Because they don’t matter to society , parents can’t afford uniforms , and uniforms don’t allow individuality. It doesn’t matter to society because there is no use. Secondly parents can’t afford uniform because they don’t have an high paying job. Many household families are only paid enough to pay bills and be able to feed their family at the same time. Finally uniforms aren’t able to express an individual’s personality because teens like to express their personality off, threw their clothing and the way they
Society has taught people that they should be themselves and express their individuality. There are many people out there who think everyone should act and be the same because people get judged if they act or dress differently. Everyone is their own person and no one should have to conform to everyone else in society. The debate over whether or not uniforms should be required has been going on for years. Many schools have decided it is best to have uniforms when, in all honesty, uniforms make no difference in academic success or behavior of students. Just because someone wears a uniform does not make them any smarter of behave in a better manner. School uniforms should not be required, not only because they do not let students express themselves, but also they cost families more money and do not affect what goes on at school.
School Uniforms are a logical choice for the public school venue. Uniforms prevent students from a lower income background to be singled out for poorly made or cheap clothing, prevents use of gang colors, allows for certain safety measures, and allows teachers to form impressions of students based on actions and work rather than dress code choices.
School uniforms should be part of the school system, because statistics have shown that students who wear uniforms are doing better than dress codes. More students also feel a sense of equality among each other, and there are fewer judgments of others. It allows teachers to quickly identify people who do not belong in the building and limits the ways that gangs can identify themselves. School outfits provide students with identity, individual spirit, and pride. Uniforms are increasing throughout different schools.
Children tend to break off into "cliques," and uniforms could possibly help unite students. Finding creative ways to express their individuality through other outlets other than fashion can help children forge friendships based on their common interests. In conclusion, I feel that school uniforms are something all schools should consider implementing in their policy. All of these points show that they could be budget-friendly, help children focus, and lower the barriers children can build up because of merely what they are wearing.
The most common argument against school uniforms is that they take away the students right to self-expression. Yes, school uniforms limit what the students have to wear, but students can still have their own ways of self-expression. Students can still express their style of choice with their hair and what accessories they wear. Their shoe choice is also a form of self-expression. Students can make the uniforms their own style without breaking the dress code. School is a place to learn. Outside of school, self- expression is limitless. Some parents also believe that it could interfere with students' natural behavior to experiment with different identities. Having uniforms in schools helps erase the defined line of the social classes. Typically, popular kids in the higher social classes wear the trendiest clothing...
Firstly, I believe that wearing a school uniform does not give children a sense of individuality and suppresses their own true identity. The way they dress and present themselves is essential to their upbringing as it helps them to learn about themselves and is a way in which one can express themselves. Plus, our teachers are always saying how important it is to just be ourselves and not to worry about what others might think. Having a uniform takes that away from us, and this may lead students to try to find other ways
Students are distracted by the variety of clothing they choose to wear it takes away from them gaining inner knowledge. Students choose to wear fancy, strange, or bright colorful clothes. Students become more interested in paying attention to what other students are wearing and what they have instead of focusing on the subject they are being taught in class. Students should be focusing on gaining new knowledge and skills. Wearing uniforms would teach students how to focus on their personalities, inner beauty, rather than their
School uniforms mean no hassle when choosing what to wear at school, often more affordable than fashion clothing and have much less get ready time in the morning. Which could be extended amount of time and effort with wealthier families. Uniforms also work great for making students feel equal and balanced.
