Realization
From what I see, I am nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing has happened to me my whole life that hasn’t happened to nearly everybody else on this planet. Except that I met Brian. Being in his arms were some of the happiest times I had ever experienced. I could look deep into his eyes and be enchanted forever. Being with him changed my soul. I felt his love prying apart the hard shell of shyness that encircled me. His trust, his love and his support for me lifted me from the earth and gently sent me into the clouds. He cast off the chains I had given myself. Through him I learned a new insight about the world. It was as if a tall, dark mountain had stood in front of me, and out of nowhere, he provided the wings to fly over it. We met at my work. We started dating each other and seeing more and more of each other every day, not knowing that we were falling in love. Soon we became a couple. Our relationship was everything it should have been, almost as if our time together had been written for a novel. We grew closer and closer during the school year. We would go to the movies, go out to eat, go shopping and most of all be with each other for a long time. I could hardly sleep at night, just anticipating the next time I would see him and the upcoming weekend we would be together. I shared everything with him, even things I kept from my family and my best friend.

As I have thought and prayed a bit more about what you have experienced this weekend it strikes me that as you entered it with the expectation that it was a beginning, Ruben entered it with a number of lines drawn in the sand that He knew he couldn’t cross, and was entering the weekend seeking to discover where you stood in relationship to those lines before he took the risk of allowing his heart to get too attached. If he had, he may have found himself in a position later on having to decide between what his heart wanted and erasing the line he had drawn and stood behind for so long. As hard as this may be to understand, in many ways the decision has very little to do with the real you, and more to do with the wishdream he has been holding onto. I know it doesn’t ease the pain, and it may not even help with the confusion you are feeling, but I think it is true. He has an idea of what perfect looks like and he is committed to holding on to it. He has held it for 32 years. Maybe he
Hello. I am Daniel Gardner. My story today sets back a few years ago in a car. I look out the window from the back seat to see a beautiful blue sky with pearly white clouds scattered across the sky like dice. The sun glows across the sky like a beacon of hope. It reflects off of the sand as if it is beaming off of glass. The luscious variety of green grass with the bountiful palm trees sway softly with the breeze. The light turns green and we start to fly past it all as if time speeds up. we pull into the driveway to see not a beach house. But a mansion. We walk in and see the decor of the house as if angels have come through and done it themselves. We were finally on vacation.
Do you remember the first time we met? I do as I cannot shake the memory. It was love at first sight. I’ll never forget the feeling I had. A warmth overcame my body as you stoked a fire in my heart. It was like I had spent my life drowning in the sea around me and you were that breath of fresh air as I pulled myself out. My cares and concerns melted away. I was complete. You were exactly what I had been missing in my life. My better half you completed me you made me whole. Your touch, your scent, your glistening radiance I took it all in. I felt its force enter my body working its way to the very center of my soul. It felt like a real living breathing thing coalescing within my life force touching parts of me I never knew existed. You awakened some innate primal desire and I needed you at all times.
Seventeen years ago, I came bounding into a world of love and laughter. I was the first child, the first grandchild, the first niece, and the primary focus of my entire extended family. Although they were not married, my parents were young and energetic and had every good intention for their new baby girl. I grew up with opportunities for intellectual and spiritual growth, secure in the knowledge that I was loved, free from fear, and confident that my world was close to perfect. And I was the center of a world that had meaning only in terms of its effect on me-- what I could see from a height of three feet and what I could comprehend with the intellect and emotions of a child. This state of innocence persisted through my early teens, but changed dramatically in the spring of my sophomore year of high school. My beloved father was dying of AIDS.
Cambridge dictionary defines democracy as the belief in freedom and equality between people, or a system of government based on this belief, in which power is held by elected representatives or directly by the people themselves. Democracy has been in existence for at least 2,500 years, and is believed to have originated in Ancient Athens. Plato’s critique of democracy is thought provoking. Plato claims that democracy is a stage of political being, he believes believed that from oligarchy comes democracy, and from democracy comes tyranny . Many of Plato’s critiques critiques of democracy are logical, for example, Socrates (??? Aristotle or Plato???)says “For surely in a city under a democracy you would hear that this [freedom] is the finest
I know that there is no such thing as the perfect guy because no one is perfect, but I hope to find a guy who could erase all my doubts. Even though I am still a bit nervous, I learned from the mistakes my parents made and what I can do to avoid situations like theirs. The fantasy I had about my future wedding partially lives on, but with a more reality based twist. I know that just because my parents struggled does not mean I am bound to as well. I survived the storm and from it emerged the young lady I am today. Good things can come from a little rain after
Democracy is robust, widely accepted and highly anticipated around the world. It is the triumphant form of government; dominantly used in Europe, North and South and America and becoming reformed and taking new roots in Africa and Asia. Although the term democracy is based on its Greek origin, demos kratos, meaning people rule, the term cannot be simply understood as such. Due to vast coverage, the adaptation of democracy has varied greatly, whether regionally, nationally, by state or through different branches of government. Perhaps this can be advantageous when the different categorizations listed above can use democracy to rule and suit themselves best, but other factors, such as globalization and neoliberalism, has caused the need for
One of the contemporary definitions of democracy today is as follows: “Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives; Rule by the majority” (“Democracy” Def.1,4). Democracy, as a form of government, was a radical idea when it manifested; many governments in the early history of the world were totalitarian or tyrannical in nature, due to overarching beliefs that the strong ruled over the weak.
Democracy: a government by the people, in which citizens rule either directly or through elected representatives - the latter description more relevant to today’s societies. Quite evidently, democracy is not perfect; like any other political system, it is subject to a plethora of flaws. For instance, it is no secret that voters tend to make illogical decisions – not out of sheer malice, but as a result of being wrongly informed. Politicians also make erroneous choices, whether they do so because they are dishonest or simply out of touch with the true will of their constituents. Further, anyone who has studied the government of a parliamentary democracy knows gerrymandering can have a powerful say in determining elections. Despite these and other flaws however, democracy still seems to work.
I tried so many excuses but she demanded I must stay home and get ready for my dinner with my future husband. I start worrying because I am afraid that he’ll keep waiting for me and there are no ways for me to contact him. Finally Brain and his mother had arrived and the thoughts of marrying Brian in less than a month was repulsive. After grabbing two glass of water for them, i overheard Brian telling my aunt that I wasn’t pretty. In a way that really hurt me and I quickly walked outside trying not to cry. Of course! Brian had to follow me outside, he apoligize and started comforting me by holding my hands. As i turned around I saw Alex staring at us and my heart kept beating rapidly! I started freaking out thinking Alex would be mad and upset at me. Quickly right after dinner I ran down to the park and started looking for him, with no sights of Alex I decided to leave him a note to meet me at midnight. Later on when I was entering the house on 37 Brook street seeing Alex was such a relief! I was afraid he was furious at me but instead he set up a really nice picnic for us. The time spend with Alex is incredible, it makes me really upset how short amount of time we have left! He started suggesting that we move to the WIlds together, but i quickly denied his offer. I explained to him I cannot be like my mother and that lead me to talking a lot about her. I told him this special
Then he asked me if I had ever been kissed, this sent me into a near heart attack mode. I admitted that I hadn’t been kissed before. Then boy in front of me, the one who always held confidence, who knew so much of himself so well prior to those who do that are much older than we, blushed and apologized sincerely for not having been a better person to me and not having something to offer me this day. He looked back up at me with confidence and more love in his eyes that I had ever seen at the time. And then, Jordan softly placed his hand behind my neck, not intimately or anything like that, but in a more comforting way, moving my hair behind my shoulder and said, “If I can offer you anything special, a small gift in a small way,” and he kind of laughed at that, his voice softened again and he finished, “If you’ll let me, I’ll give you your first kiss.” The shock in my eyes must have been apparent, of course no one had ever said anything so romantic to me in my whole life (Again, I just turned fourteen), I nodded –a huge blush gracing my face as well as much as
Actually, democracy is deemed to be a difficult form of government regardless if it is favourable circumstances or not. It seems to be all the more difficult when society’s economic environment is weak, civil society is still developing, and finally ...
Democracy is important and valuable to the people of the United States. It is the form of government that rules us all. Democracy is one type of government with different variations. The idea of democracy has two meanings. The ideal and the real. The ideal is that democracy that listens to everyone and gives freedom as well as equality. For example, there is direct democracy, in which every person votes to come to an agreement. This is a type of democracy that cannot be accomplished in the United States due to the population size. Instead we have what is called a representative democracy or the real type of democracy. In this type of democracy, we the people get to choose someone to represent our values an opinions and that person reports this to the government. We have this type of democracy because perfect democracy does not exist. It would be extremely hard to accomplish or even come close to it. The reality is that the United States is one of the closest best forms of democracy, yet it’s far from perfect. The U.S. and what makes it a working democracy contains more than just representation. The government is made up of the Constitution, the rule of the majority, public opinion, elections, mass media, interest
On June 13, 2011, I woke up a happy and excited 17 year old for it was my graduation day and that meant no more high school, no more nagging teachers, and no more drama. I met my friends and my boyfriend Andrew in the school parking lot and away we went to practice graduation. After we had practiced walking and getting our diplomas we all went to lunch and discussed what we had wanted to do with the rest of our lives. After what we had thought to be one of the last lunches together I went to Andrews house to hang out for a bit. We talked about him going away and me staying here and all of the normal stuff that applies in a relationship when one goes away. Before I left his house I asked him if he had wanted a ride to graduation, due to the fact he was in a car accident four days prior and the only vehicle he had at the moment was his motorcycle. He responded with a polite, "Nah." That's when I knew he wanted to take his bike.
It was on a Friday morning at 4:30 A.M. that happiness and joy filled the hearts of both my parents. I was born on November 29, 1996 at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale Florida. My parents had five children, and among the five children that they had, I was the third (or middle) child from them. It started off as two boys, then I came along as the first girl, after it was another boy, then finally, another baby girl; so total was three boys and two girls. The way that my parents lived and treated each other was the same as if any other married couple that loved each other so much. They’ve gone through a lot to get to where they are now today, but they made it and along the way had us five children. They have been really strong with each other which made them only have the five of us and no other step children. My mom is a great cook and enjoy cooking for us; this is probably where my passion for culinary comes from. My dad is an amazing tailor, he is very good at making our clothes, and my passion for fashion probably came from him. My dad is also a teacher, one of the best math teacher I know, he is passionate about his job and his family is the center of his universe. I cannot finish this chapter without mentioning my grandmother, I was lucky enough to have ever met. I had spent part of my life time with her, like the rest of the family she is sweet, my grandmother Abelus,
