Everyone knows that family is very important to who someone is and will grow up to be. But a subsection of people think it's more important to have a healthy relationship with everyone around you. Even though these are great opinions, I think that it is important to love and respect others and winning isn’t everything. In the story “Raymond’s Run” by Toni Cade Bambara, the theme is slowly introduced through the beginning, middle and end of the story. Initially, Toni develops the theme through inner dialogue and character interaction. The first time that character interaction is used is when Raymond was being bullied, so she stepped in saying,“That’s right, Fatso. And the next word out of anybody and I’ll be their mother too.”(13) Of course this shows her being outright rude to them. And I get they’re bullies, but that's not an excuse to act that way. The next piece of evidence uses inner dialogue when she shows she doesn’t care about repercussions,”I much prefer to just knock you down right from the jump and save everyone a lot of precious time”(6). She thought this because she doesn’t think it’s worth …show more content…
The first thing this happens is when she thinks to herself, “You’d think they’d know better than to encourage that kind of nonsense. I am not a strawberry. I do not dance on my toes. I run.”(15) she said this whilst reminiscing on her memories of the days when her mom forced her into a pageant. Of course this again shows up later on when she’s thinking,”he’s got no right to call me Squeaky, if I can’t call him Beanstalk.“Hazel Elizabeth Deborah Parker,” I correct him and tell him to write it down on his board.”(18) She thinks very poorly of the man with the clipboard which also shows that she doesn’t respect most people for who they are, but instead how she thinks they are. This does die down and reveal the theme of this story in the third and final body
...he way love is performed and the price a family member might have to pay for the sake of the integrity of one’s family, at the end of the day, family will always be the people who loves us the most.
Although sometimes people can get wrapped up in events that they feel only concern themselves, they should always take a moment to think about how their actions could be affecting the people they love. Friends will always come and go, but family is forever. If a person wants to stay close to their family, they have to consider things from both theirs and the other person’s points of view. For love, people have to sacrifice things that they might not want to, but they have to love their families enough to help them before they help themselves.
For most people family is one of the most important parts of life. For they are the people who raised you and taught you things needed in life. For most of us we have a connection with are family that is unparallel in life, which is the reason for are undying love. At times though there is a point at which we take are family for granted like they will always be around. Parents might do things that are not agreed upon by the children, yet the parent thinks it is in the child's best interest. Sometimes it might not even be the best thing to do in that situation, yet parents have a true desire to protect their children from the dangers of the world. On the other hand, children do not always listen to the advice their parents give them and can get themselves into a lot of trouble. Anyway you look at it, most of the time we do not realize what we have until it is not longer with us. Many times we do take our family for granted and when one passes away there are many things we wish we could have said or done to show them are love. The play "Into The Woods," by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine is a direct example of how families treat each other. There is conflict ranging from hating sisters, to protective mothers and a disagreeing husband and wife. In the end lives are lost, family are in pain and those left realize that they need to treat their family better and hold on to the loved ones that they have. Families do encounter many difficult choices together, but they also must solve the problems together, and keep peace within the family, because bad choice will be regretted when those loved ones are not around longer.
Almost everyone is born into a family. In “Of Mice and Men”, the characters George Milton and Lennie Small have a relationship that could be described as a family relationship. In “The Gilded Six-Bits”, Joe Banks and Missie May are a husband and wife. These people interact with others but there is a different type of interaction between the people who they consider to be family. When people interact with family members, they are usually more free with their actions and words than they are with strangers or mere acquaintances. Sometimes these carefree words and actions lead to disruptions within their relationships. Regardless of the trials and tribulations, everyone desires to have someone that they can care for and call their family.
Miss Hazel has a renewed purpose of loving others, even though her ways might be more controversial than others ways. It says in the story she says, “you got to take care of the old folks.”(Bambara, 98) The McNair Scholars Journal, a periodical, it says “Love and attraction appear to be universal emotions.” (Braxton-Davis, 12) It is likely Miss Hazel’s character was trying to speak the “universal language” and not trying to be controversial at all. She was an example of being a women by
...ghtful and inspirational to many. Realizing that each member of a family has his own issues that he is dealing with on top of keeping his family together can alter his reasoning and decision-making. Becoming less self-obsessed and demonstrating empathy for family members during difficult circumstances can be essential in keeping a family strong. Building and fortifying a foundation of family unity can be pivotal distinction between a family who stands together and one who crumbles apart.
Across the world, there are contrasting environments ranging from affluent to impoverished communities. Those growing up in various backgrounds can have similar or opposite outcomes in life. They can make ethical choices and thrive, or make poor choices and reap the repercussions. Ultimately, the lives of developing individuals lie in the choices they make. Family is not chosen, but is invaluable to each individual in it.
Have you ever stopped and thought about what everybody in the world has in common? Family is a very common thing. It could just be a group of people that you care about and love or it could just be a person. Family is always together and family never falls apart. Family is that one group that you love and worry about and it can be that one person. In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton family is a very important thing. Family is the best blessing to have. The theme S.E Hinton talks about is family always sticks together.
“individuals cannot be understood in isolation from one another, but rather as a part of their family, as the family is an emotional unit. Families
Family is important in every culture, it shapes people and makes them who they are.
To me, family is the most important thing in my life. They always encourage me to be the best I can be and nothing more. A quote that I think describes family to me is one by Alex Haley that states, “In every conceivable manner, the family is the link to our past, and bridge to our future.” Through the stories I hear from my mother and grandmother, I have a clear link to my families past and the generation of women that led to me. All the values these women held close to them throughout the years have led to the formation of myself and my values. Over the past three generations, the women in my family have overcome oppression. My mother, growing up in a time where women could never have aspirations to be CEO’s or politicians, somehow came out stronger. She saw what she didn’t want for her future, and jumped at the chance to start a new life in America. No single model of family life characterizes the American family, despite ideological beliefs to the contrary (Andersen). My family couldn’t be labeled an “Italian family” or an “American family.” We are a mix of the two cultures and ideologies, which is what makes us different. I am the first women in my mother’s family to be born and raised in America. My great grandmother had a complete different childhood and adolescence experience than I yet we still have a common cultural base. All her ideals were passed onto my grandmother, than all the down to me, a hundred years in the making to become who I am
Family has a major impact on our lives. From the moment you were born, your family has taught you right from wrong. We get our religion, values, gender roles, language, and habits from our families. We get our status in society through your family’s connection and wealth, which later can determine one’s job opportunities in life. Although we grow up and start to develop our own values and beliefs and opinions, the family values, beliefs and opinions that were instilled in you since you were little never really go away.
Family is a value that my father taught me. He told me that family is
Family is an extremely important relationship connection that should always be strong. Family will always be there to support you emotional and physical through any circumstances. I value my relationship with my family, they support me through my decisions and life goals in my life. I am definitely a family oriented person, family is my top priority. We come in as a family through
Families provide people with an atmosphere in which to live, grow, and develop. A family culture is established by the parents and instilled in the children during their upbringing. A healthy family is a family which follows a set of strong morals, stays loyal to one another, cooperates, and works together to avoid conflict. An environment where there is openness amongst family members is ideal because minds that are open are more susceptible to avoiding conflict than minds that are closed. If conflict gets the best of a family, it has the potential to increase hostility and create remoteness between family members, however, if a family resolves conflict, it can strengthen and enforce the family relationships.
