Ray Kroc was indeed an overnight success; he basically created a multi-million dollar franchise from a small diner that he did not even own. Kroc intended on making high quality burgers that “tasted just the same in Alaska as they did in Alabama,” and this slogan changed the world forever .Ray Kroc was an influential person of the 20th century because he built a fortune 500 restaurant from an idea that was technically not even his, set a standard for all fast food restaurants to follow, and left a historic legacy of a man who earned everything from another man’s mistake.

Before he created this franchise, he was a high school dropout selling cups for Lily- Tulip Cup Company. While selling cups, he quickly became the company’s best salesman. After seeing a Multimixer, he left Lily and spent a decade selling them to drug stores and restaurant owners.” One small restaurant in San Bernardino, California, ordered eight machines. Interested in the people who made this order, Kroc left for California to see for himself what kind of restaurant needed to bust out 40 milk shakes at a time. As one could tell just by walking around a town, Mcdonalds’ or Ray Kroc has indirectly impacted life as we know it from his fast food chain. Ray Kroc is an influential person of the 20th century because he built a fortune 500 restaurant from an idea that was technically not even his, set a standard for all fast food restaurants to follow, and left a historic legacy of a man who earned everything from another man’s mistake. Kroc changed the world with hamburgers and French fries, and to me, that is a pretty dang good change.

Stephen Boos has worked in the food service industry for over 30 years. He started as a bus person and subsequently trained as a chef’s apprentice. Steve’s mother believed that a college education was something that everyone should receive. She felt that a college degree was a good investment in Steve’s future. In 1976 at his mother’s insistence, Boos moved to Northeastern Ohio to attend Kent State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduation, Steve began working for East Park Restaurant as a line cook. Using his education as a foundation, Steve made a point to learn everything he could about running a restaurant, from cutting meat to the bi-weekly food and beverage orders. He founded McDonalds and now all over the world you can get great food for a great price. Ray built the corporation on great taste, quality service, cleanliness, and value. Ray Kroc set the standards for all fast food restaurants, and began the chain of fast food restaurants. Ray Kroc is one of the most influential people in the world because he founded one of the most famous fast food restaurant businesses.
Ray Kroc bought out the McDonald brothers, Mac and Dick, for $2.7 Million in cash in 1961. Kroc’s prototype store in Des Plaines, Illinois, is now a museum.
Thomas A. Edison once said, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” Ray Kroc was successful because he kept trying no matter how many people put him down. Also, if he succeeded in one thing he kept on going and fulfilling his other goals to continue. He had confidence and motivation in himself as a person and that contributed to his success. He set realistic goals for himself and had strived to be the best. He was hard working since young and knew what he was doing so that was building block to his success.
While peddling about the country he came in contact with the super efficient McDonald's hamburger joint, which was started by Dick and Mac McDonald, who were brothers. He saw this place and optimistically envisioned many more opening up all over the country. He convinced the brothers to let him be their first franchisee. They agreed so in 1954 Ray opened up the first McDonalds franchise. A year later, Ray opened up the second McDonalds franchise in Des Plaines, Illinois. Only four years after the second restaurant's opening the one hundredth McDonalds was opened. In 1961 Ray Kroc bought the rights to the McDonalds franchise for a meager 2.7 million dollars. To pay this massive sum at the time he had to mortgage his house and take out numerous loans that would eventually cost him 14 million to pay back. After he bought the rights to the name and the company he forced Dick and Mac to remove their name from their original restaurant. But he went even further when he opened up a McDonalds restaurant a block down the road trying to put them out of business. Also that same year Hamburger University was opened.

It was started off as just a Bar-B-Q that served just twenty items. Its first mascot was named “Speedee” They eventually realized that by setting up their kitchen like an assembly line that they could be much more productive and get their food done faster, with every employee doing a specified job; the restaurants production rate became much higher. A milkshake machine vendor came into their small restaurant one day, his name was Ray Kroc. He saw how much potential the restaurant has, so he bought it out and opened one of the first franchises. Within the first year of Ray Kroc buying it, there were one hundred and two locations all around the world. McDonalds currently is one of the largest fast food restaurants in the world and currently has served over sixty four million customers through one of their thirty two thousand sites. It has almost become a way of life for America. Though, McDonalds started off as a small business between two brothers, it grew into one of the largest restaurant franchises in the world and greatly affects our society and how we eat our food.
At the time, Ray Kroc was selling multi-mixer machines for milkshakes and McDonald’s had already purchased eight of his machines. Wondering why this restaurant was using eight of his machines, he decided to visit the restaurant and was really taken back by how efficient the restaurant was being operated. Being a businessman himself, Krock eagerly spoke with the McDonald brothers about expanding their operations towards Chicago and the east coast where Kroc was from. Reluctant at first, the brothers eventually agreed to let Kroc handle all operations of franchising and in return Ray Kroc would give the McDonald brothers half of the sales. Kroc had a bigger vision of expanding all over the states, and becoming the number one fast-food chain in America.
