Who should control the internet? Internet users are subject to surveillance from the regime in Syria. The internet should be censored because there is content on the internet that kids shouldn’t partake of, there is a possibility the internet can lead to increased stress, and there is a possibility that mentally unstable people can find out how to build weapons and harm people.
One reason the internet should be censored is because there is content on the internet that kids shouldn’t partake of. Opposing points of view are presented on whether violent lyrics or censorship is more harmful to children, whether rap is unfairly targeted for censorship, and whether advisory labels are effective. ( Should Music Lyrics Be Censored ). Rap music has cursing and profanity in the lyrics that kids shouldn’t partake of. The groups, whose text and pictures range from midley risque to exceedingly raw, make up a significant tributary of the river of newsgroups that flows constantly through the world’s computer networks. (Can The Net Be Censored?). Kids should not be able to see inappropriate pictures or anything like that that pops up for ads on some websites and inappropriate text. It's obvious that there is many things on the internet that should be censored.

There has been considerable commentary about whether internet use in general and social media use in particular are related to higher levels of stress. (Social Media And The Cost Of Caring). Using social media all the time every day causes us to be more stressed because we are worried about what everyone else is doing and what is happening. This research explores whether the use of social media, mobile phones and the internet is associated with higher levels of stress. (Social Media And The Cost Of Caring). We constantly have our phones with us and constantly checking them. With all of the technology we have it's easy to be more stressed
The type of content usually censored is sexual or violent things but Ballaro states, “Some bans (and the filtering software used to enforce them) eliminated access not only to pornographic materials but also to legitimate health and medical information” (Ballaro 1). If someone were to become sick, looking up symptoms on the internet is not the most efficient way to go about finding out what sickness they have, or what kind of treatments there are. Going to a professional would ensure that they get the correct diagnosis and treatment. Everything on the internet can be changed and not knowing the accuracy of a source is going to make the search more or less accurate. Children are also a big part of why things are censored. In the same passage, it is explained,“Opponents of Internet Censorship argue that education, not censorship, represents the best means of protecting children…” (Ballaro 1). Telling someone not to do something will just make them want to do it more. Educating kids on the dangers of the internet will not stop them from going on the internet. Protection children from all scammers and hackers, not just to mention explicit material, would also be challenging considering the internet is changing rapidly each day. Why not just block websites that are bad so even if children are tempted, they can not go to

Music and what lyrics are placed in songs has had a lot of influence over my emotions not only when I listen to the song but when I think about the event that goes with that song. In this day and age music and media have more power to manipulate young minds than it did only a generation ago. The songs that people say are deep and meaningful are usually those that are easy to connect with. The six songs you have listened to are songs most people do not understand until they analyze the meanings of them. My own mother in fact does not like the music I listen to just because of the language and because she tends to see things as they are instead of the feelings and motivations poured into something.
Since the internet has been available in schools and libraries in this country, there has been a debate about what should be accessible to users, especially minors. The amount of information disseminated on the world wide web is vast, with some sources valuable for scholarly and personal research and entertainment, and some sources that contain material that is objectionable to some (ie. pornography, gambling, hate groups sites, violent materials). Some information potentially accessible on the internet such as child pornography and obscenity is strictly illegal and is not protected under the First Amendment. Some information available on the internet that may be valuable to some is at the same time perceived to be worthless or potentially harmful to some. For libraries serving the public, there has been controversy on the issue of providing the internet, free of censorship or filtering, to users. While some librarians and their professional associations align with ideals of free and unfiltered access to all information provided by the internet, some feel that filtering internet content to exclude possibly objectionable materials is a reasonable measure to prevent potential harm to minors.
The first amendment of the United States Constitution states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances” (U.S. Constitution). In my opinion, the idea of censoring songs or music videos is a violation of the Freedom of speech to the artists and performers who are just trying to speak their mind. Censorship is the suppression of ideas, information, and expression those individuals, groups or the government find objectionable or dangerous. Arguably one of the most important ideas of this law is the concept of Freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is the ability to communicate beliefs or thoughts or values without fear of government intervention or censorship. In today’s society, artists and musicians produce music, sometimes controversial, with the intent to explain a story and make millions of dollars.
Have you ever wondered what was making that horrible racket coming from a teen’s car. The odds are that it would be some type of rap song, yet the beat was too loud for you to hear the lyrics. Based off what the mass knows about rap music, you were lucky to not hear the lyrics right, wrong. Rap lyrics have many senses of great poetry and life lessons that should be heard. At least some of rap songs relate to struggles, deaths they have suffered, or even respect of women that many do not believe that rappers would ever do. Rap music is becoming increasingly meaningful for not only adults but for older youth as well to comprehend about respect and an improved understanding of life with struggles and oppressions.

Everywhere someone turns there are censors, protection against “explicit material” and pixels to blur out the middle finger and body parts. If one turns on the tv, there will be blurs and bleeps between every channel and even parts being taken out of movies because of content that is censored from the audience. Words, music, and even television are censored to “prevent negative displays of cultures, individuals, or communities” (“Revealed…”).Censorship is mainly regarding parents and children- what they deem has the best and worst influence on them. Of course one can argue that censors are mandatory, for children especially, but in truth censors are non essential nuisances. What these censors do is create a barrier for teenagers and preteens from reality and what actually happens in real life. As well as shielding young children from harmful material that a child should not see. Although censors are needed to protect children from explicit material, there is also too much censoring in books, music, and television.
My concerns about Internet censorship prompted me to write "Internet Censorship is Absurd and Unconstitutional." In the essay, I outline why I believe that the Internet should not be censored in any way for two reasons. First, any law advocating censorship of the Internet is too broad and unenforceable on this global information medium. Second, Internet censorship is a breach of First Amendment rights for those users residing in the United States. The essay will provide insight into why self regulation is the only viable solution to the problems that have and will be presented to the Internet.
Censorship is Necessary to Protect Children from the Internet Do you want our future generations being exposed to violence, hate, sexuality, illegal substances, and false information, and then one day think it would be cool or alright to try these things? The internet is filled with dangerous information, that children should never have the freedom to access. Children learn from example, and if they search, watch, or read something on the web that could be potentially dangerous, they could be influenced or curious and think that it would be alright to imitate one day. If our children now are viewing these things, it could mean that future generations could grow to be more violent and our world could become more dangerous than it already is today. Censorship is necessary if we plan on having our kids grow up in the safest environment possible.
Rap music is an expression of one’s feelings through poetry and instrumentation. Although rap gains many accomplishments, it is still one of the most criticized genres of music. Rap music does not promote violence; it only depicts the destruction that has been happening all over America. Rap, even though it has a profound way of expression, should not be roughly criticized, because it continues to positively impact society. Rap music receives a variety of brutal criticism from critics attacking the lyrics of modern rappers.
Due to how accessible the internet is to everyone, some say the internet should be censored for everyone to keep them in a safe environment. 88 percent of Americans use the internet and many of which are minors (Aaron Smith). Even though some might run into bad materials, everything on the internet can be found in real life.
Background: In this era of science and technology, the internet plays a crucial part in our lives. It is one of the most useful inventions of all time and it has brought us a lot of advantages in various aspects such as in communication, in the way we obtain information and in the field of art and entertainment. The internet censorship also has been expands and might be confused because of including the fulfilled on varies stages in technology such as web sites, specific web pages or even on specific words. The search results may be clarified out after we searched that, (Dutton et.al, 2010).
Many people take an advantage of Freedom of speech in their music. Rappers and rocker often does this in their albums and playlist. They use violent words that’s not protected by The First Amendment. Many of them uses violent phrases that can offend most listeners. Offensive music should be banned.
There are two real issues at stake when looking at this controversial topic. The first issue is finding a way to protect our children from potentially damaging material. There are advocates to censoring the Internet and removing this type of material because it will help shelter our children from this type of content. On the other hand, Free Speech advocates believe that it is the individual citizens right to have access to this typ...
