Can I really get “radiant skin?” Now a days you see everywhere “Your can have radiant skin,” “With this lipstick, your lips can look luscious,” and similar ideas. All of these phrases appeal to women, ages young adult up to middle age. These phrases are created to appeal to women so that they by their products so that the “look” like the models that show them off.

Aveeno is a popular skin care brand now-a-days. Their products are manufactured for women. They create skin care products that claim to give you “beautiful, radiant skin,” or “younger looking skin.” This ad for Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer appeals to middle-age women. At this age women’s skin tends to lose its elasticity and natural glow. The one phrase on their ad, I believe, that really draws in the consumers is “Naturally beautiful skin begins with soy. In fact, it helps to even tone and texture for more radiant looking skin.” It promises the women that their skin will create youthful, healthy and natural looking skin.

This company obviously wants to sell their products, and can do so by creating ads, such as this one. Creator(s) of this ad preplan their design for the ad to ensure the message to its intended audience. Big and in the middle of the ad is Jennifer Aniston. It shows her with skin that is even tone and texture, and radiant. If someone is looking for their skin to look like Jennifer Aniston’s, then they will want to buy the
Marketing is part of everyday life; whether you are the one buying or the one selling. “The basic idea of this somewhat complicated definition is that marketing is all about delivering value to everyone who is affected by a transaction”(Solomon, Marshall, & Stuart, 2012, p. 8). The market for Aveeno's products is all natural and pure products. In my opinion, the Natural product line has become a success over the last few years. The company’s spokeswoman is Jennifer Aniston who has a flawless natural glow about herself. I have been a huge admirer of Aveeno products because I have very sensitive skin, so when I see “Active Naturals” on all their products it gives me the interest and desire to buy their products. Aveeno’s website
Since Rihanna is one the most popular female singer in the world, people already know a lot about her. Her persona or her character would have a great impact on the sales of the product, since all her followers around the world be influenced by her. The purpose of the ad seem to be to sell her products but there is another hidden intention. That would be rising awareness among people that every colored women should feel confident and good about themselves. For instance, Rihanna used a model who’s also well know but also has certain skin tone like the model who has albinism. Albinism is when a person’s skin tone is extremely white. Not a lot of makeup lines make products for that skin tone, but Rihanna did and increased her audience and provided a clear intention of her makeup line.
The first appeal is visible by using logos to offer the audience logic to purchase Proactiv products. Proactiv affirms that their product are for women of any and all kinds of skin types of racial backgrounds. The ad states “Skin Smoothing Exfoliator, Complexion Perfecting Hydrator, and Pore Targeting Treatment which is used to describe the product that they are advertising. Proactiv also offers Proactiv Solution Oil Free Moisturizer. This product has been around for a long time and is growing quickly and is very diverse also. Proactiv states “Skin Smoothing Exfoliator” which cleanses thoroughly leaving skin smooth and pol...
The target market would be women who require the essential night cream in order to stay looking young. In today 's world women crave the idea of looking young for a longer period of time. The idea of this ad is for women to see a beautiful woman with amazing looking skin and aspire to look like her. The Aveeno Active Naturals ad recognizes different aged women who want to stay looking younger longer. The use of a beautiful woman in the ad helps to convince women that this product will help them stay looking young.
This ad in particular promises “improved softness”. The problem with this claim is that it is unclear to what extent the product may have on its customers. Will the person wearing this product find themselves looking as if they’ve had professional work done, with no fine lines in the skin, or will the person only seen a small difference in their appearance? The word “softness” is also unclear. The word could mean a number of things, such as smooth complexion or evenly toned face. Does this mean the targeted woman needs to have silky soft skin, and if she doesn’t, will this be the product that solves her “problem”? It most likely will not be nearly as drastic as it might seem to me. The advertisement also promises “sublime bronze”, “instant summer glow”, and “blurred imperfections”, all of these claims are too general for anyone to decipher exactly to what extent this product works. This advertisement hopes that by using these words and phrases, women who are insecure about their “imperfections” or white, dull, skin, will buy this new product.
In his essay “An Essay Concerning Human Understanding” John Locke makes a connection between memory and consciousness and called this connection the memory theory. The memory theory states that if “a thinking intelligent being, that has reason and reflection, and can consider itself as itself, [and is] the same thinking thing, in different times and places” then it is continuously the same rational being has a consciousness (Locke 1959). Locke ties the consciousness and memory together by saying that “as far as … consciousness can be extended backwards to any past action or thought, so far reaches the identity of that person”; meaning that if a person has memories of their existence and actions they are the same person. Locke connects the memory
The above advertisement for Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizing CC cream demonstrates modern day fixation on celebrity culture and photographic subterfuge to avoid truth. The model represented is a conventionally attractive woman whom, because of how healthy she appears, looks prosperous. The quote beside her “I’m not an airbrushed kinda girl, I just want to look it” conflicts with her appearance. From this we learn that she is an average woman infatuated so much with the celebrity look that she too wants to display herself as one. “air brushed kinda girl” implies that those who constantly look airbrushed (celebrities) possess negative personality traits ergo, one would not like to act like them. The assumption that celebrities are
There are many companies that use sex appeal in their ads today. For instance Victoria Secrets is one of the top sellers in lingerie. They show skin in every one of their ads. All of their models put on the sex appeal for all commercials and magazines. That is what helps them sell. Women look at those ads and see those girls floating on clouds like angels and feel they could feel the same if they wore that purple bra or red underwear. By showing these girls constantly looking sexy in their ads make women feel sexy just wearing them. That is the whole point of using sex in your ads. It?s amazing what a little skin can do. "In advertising, sex sells. But only if you're selling sex (Richards).
This is an advert targeted for mature women; the aim of the product is to reduce aging of the skin, mainly the face among these types of women. The product is from Olay. Olay is a multi-millionaire brand that first produced anti-aging cream then went on to producing all kinds of skin care products (the guardian, March 2012), however it has always been known for its anti-aging products.
Youth, timeless beauty and the pursuit of perfection seem to be on the forefront of everyone’s agenda. From television portraying reality shows such as “Extreme Makeover” and fictional dramas such as “Nip and Tuck”, it is no wonder Americans are obsessed with finding the ultimate secret to looking flawless. The beauty industry is a 40 billion dollar enterprise,
Because the concept of real women was implemented, women were able to relate their own self-identity, flaws and overall body image to the women on the advertisements. The use of “real people” in Dove’s campaign helps people realize that average citizens can still be as beautiful as the people that are consistently portrayed in the usual advertisements. These real people offer a connection to an individual’s everyday body issue struggles and allows Dove’s audience to recognize the fact that beauty should not be limited to western societies view. Ultimately, this section of the campaign allows viewers to make personal connections to the models in the advertisements, which furthers Dove’s intentions for the Real Beauty campaign.
This advertisement has also globalised in other countries that being slim is considered beautiful and that other body type is unacceptable. A research conducted by YouGov UK found out that “55% of the British female population felt that this advertisement is offensive and that it made them self-aware about their body, while 55% of male agrees that the company is making money by helping people losing weight.” (Dahlgreen,

Beauty product can be defined as cosmetics; materials and devices made and sold for the purpose of enhancing the physical attractiveness of users or in other words, as any product, especially a cream or lotion, intended to improve a person's appearance . We live in society where people nowadays are very obsessed with beauty and spending so much money on beauty products. Since we were children, the society taught us that beauty is happiness, wellness and everything. This creates a mindset that only attractive physical appearance is beauty, even though ‘beauty’ is a very subjective word where it can apply to many things. It is a rare sight these days to
