It would also be racial discrimination if there was a policy that was the same for everyone but had a negative impact on people from a particular race. A certain type of workplace that does not allow people to wear any type of head wear even if it is a part of someone’s religion is a type of indirect racial discrimination. The Racial Discrimination Act 1975 is an Act that protects every individual in Australia from racial discrimination and ensures that every one has equal opportunities. The Act makes it illegal for any person to discriminate against another person or treat them unfairly whether it be because of a person’s religion, race, or color. The Act is fairly effective and helps individuals with different aspects of their lives such as employment, education, accommodation etc. People are able to feel at ease as they are aware that they cannot be treated unfairly as it it illegal to do so. However, many people still encounter racial discrimination on a daily basis. This may be due to the fact that although the law states that it is illegal to discriminate against someone, many people disagree with the law and believe that there is nothing wrong with racial discrimination. If they feel uncomfortable writing a complaint, they can get a solicitor, advocate or trade union to write a complaint on their behalf. It is free to write a complaint to the commission and it must be written out. The commission has forms that people can fill out and post or they can simply just lodge a complaint online. If someone is unable to write a complaint out the commission can offer help and can also provide a translator for those who do not speak English well. The complaint should clearly explain the incident, when the incident happened and where it happened and must also mention the people that were involved. After the complaint has been received by the commission and the incident that is explained in the complaint is covered by the Racial Discrimination Act, the President of the Commission can examine the complaint and try to resolve it by conciliation which is the action of peacemaking and preventing anger or hatred by talking about the issue and coming up with a resolution. The commission cannot decide whether the person has actually been discriminated as it is not a court. What it does is that it hears both sides of the story from people that were involved in the incident in order to resolve the issue. This video has been published by the
Over the years Australia has had many different problems with racism and racism affecting peoples’ lives. Many racial groups have been affected, most significantly the Aboriginals. Racial discrimination is prejudice behaviour towards a person, based on their race. It is when someone is subject to abusive deportment because they are from a different race. These actions occur in every day society because people don’t think, act or believe in the same things as they do. Racial discrimination causes people to feel that they are unwelcome to be that they were born and raised to become. This causes serious effects on that person’s life and everyone else’s who comes into contact with them, as they may become withdrawn or even change the way they are just to fit in. This issue causes many people to feel like there is no peace or justice towards them, as they are apart of the overall world population.

Discrimination against people due to their color has always been recognized in the workforce and has been dealt with accordingly by the law. It used to be the most well-known form of discrimination within the workforce. Today most companies have begun stating that they adhere to the law of equal employment opportunities for everyone, but them stating it is completely different to them actually practicing what they preach. For example, there is one ethnic group who companies have begun discriminating against since the attack of 911 on the twin towers. Muslims have been singled out as the bad guys by many, thus they have been treated as such. There was a case in which Ali Aboubaker, 56, was bullied and discriminated against at work due to his religion, race, and most importantly appearance. He kept a long beard that was long and unkempt, which resembled those worn by men from Afghanistan. The company seemed to forget that Ali had four college degrees and only seemed to pay attention to his physical demeanor. At times it was even noted that his coworkers called him a terrorist in front of his manager, and they were never reprimanded for it. Due to his appea...
Have you ever had equal human rights just as much as a person who had more money than you or was in higher power than you? Human Rights is something that everyone should have. Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King are some African Americans who are responsible for some of the rights we have today. Human Rights is a right that is believed to belong justifiably to every person. The life expectancy for an average person has increased because of some of the rights that we have today. (Human Rights History)
In the simplest of terms, human rights are those that undoubtedly belong to each person. These rights, from a philosophical standpoint, have certain characteristics that distinguish them from any other. According to Richard Wasserstrom, author of the article, "Rights, Human Rights, and Racial Discrimination," human rights embody several characteristics. Primarily, and perhaps obviously, human rights are those that belong solely to humans (Wasserstrom 631). Moreover, Wasserstrom...
I would want to start by paying my respects to the nation's elders, both past and present, and acknowledge them as the land's Traditional Owners and Custodians. I extend this regard to the present-day Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Systemic Racism Systemic racism is the term used to describe how racism is ingrained in societal institutions, laws, and customs, resulting in unfair treatment and consequences on people depending on their race or ethnicity. Aiming to eliminate misconceptions and advance anti-racist beliefs and actions, this may entail education campaigns, community organising, grassroots activity, and legislative changes (Bonilla-Silva, 2021). A general definition of human rights are that they are rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled to, simply because there human. It is the idea that ‘all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.’ The thought that human rights are universal emerges from the philosophical view that human rights are linked to the conservation of human dignity- that respect for individual dignity is needed regardless of the circumstance, leading to the notion that human rights are universal. The earliest form of human rights can be traced back to European history- the French Declaration on the Rights of Man and of Citizen which says that men are born free and equal in rights.

Therefore, it is understood globally that humans are entitled to at least three types of rights. First, is civil rights which incorporates individual rights to freedom of speech, religion, and beliefs. Next,
