"Mom Mom Mom, please tell us a bedtime story!", Connor begged excitedly. "It is getting late guys, I am not so sure", reasoned the mom. "Ughhhh but you promised last night you would tell us one tonight!", whined Ali. The mom finally gave in and pulled up a chair. The children got quiet fast and huddled together under the covers in anticipation. The mom took a deep breath knowing that the kids would have a hard time processing the story that was about to be told. "I was seventeen about to turn eighteen graduating in a month when my life completely flipped upside down", the mom began. "MOM! we do not want to hear some boring, silly story about you!" protested six year old Connor. "I promise it will be worth it, just wait and you will see. Anyway, like I was saying, It was my senior year everything was going great! I was captain of the cheer team and in the most non conceited way, loved by everyone, but for some reason I was not happy. I had not been happy since the last time I had talked to Emma, who had been my best friend all of my life. We were inseparable from when we met - which was before kindergarten. It was sophomore year that ruined our friendship. I was dating this cute boy named Hunter. He was always close to Emma and I was aware of that. It was never a problem until I heard rumors of them hanging out behind my back. I did not want to believe it. When I found out that it was true, it tore me in half. I lashed out on Emma and Hunter not knowing what else to do. Hunter finally told me the truth that he had had feelings for Emma this whole time. He tried to apologize, but I could not even stand to look at him. He hurt me so much by telling me that. I could not even put my words together to talk to him, I just ... ... middle of paper ... ...talk things over at a later time. I looked at my mom, my real mom, and then Emma. I then realized that this was all meant to happen, I had just gotten my best friend back which is something I never imagined. No matter how messed up the situation is, some good will always come from it. Kids, that’s how you know Aunt Emma!” The mom said smiling. Ali and Connor gasped, basically jumping out of their seats. Both kids got overwhelmed and started asking multitude of questions, when the mom hushed them. Ali, not being able to contain herself, asked “But how did this happen?” “Shouldn’t the doctors know better?” Connor added. The mom, already expecting these questions (because they were once some of her own) had answers prepared but since it was getting late she said, “Now kids, those are stories I’ll share another night” as she was walking out the door.
