This paper is about a mother who committed a heinous crime; the killing of her child. Tariji Gordon was not only murdered, she was beaten, burned and bitten by her mother. This paper will show the events of that fatal day and the evidence of the case.
Rachel Fryer, 33, was arrested on February 11, 2014 when she admitted to burying her 2 year old daughter, Tariji, in Putnam County. Fryer claims that the child was deceased when she placed her body into a suitcase and had a friend drive her to Putnam County to bury her. Was Tariji’s death an accident or murder? I believe the evidence in the case will show that Rachel Fryer murdered her daughter and possibly, her son years earlier. What would cause a mother to abuse and murder her children? Rachel Fryer was a mother of seven children, with another baby on the way. The day to day stresses of life is not easy for a family of four; so it must be very difficult being a single mother of seven, with no income besides student loans and food stamps. To add to the stress one of the children had medical needs that needed to be attended to.
Rachel Fryer was no stranger to the Department of Children and Families. Dating back to 2002 she was facing allegations of abuse and neglect. Her children were taken from her and put into foster homes over the years. Fryer spent six months in jail in 2012, for violation of probation. Caroline Rowland, reporter for News13 writes, “The case worker assigned to Fryer had less than six months experience” (2014).
On March 12, 2014 a grand jury indicted Fryer on five counts. The counts include: first degree felony murder, aggravated manslaughter, two counts of aggravated child abuse, tampering with evidence (Dendy, 2014). She was denied b...

For the purpose of the paper, I will summarize the facts and leading events of the case of Elenita L and Romer N. Fajota. As reading through this trial I discovered that judges don’t always make the right decision for families or individuals. Likely in this case it is presentably true. Elenita and Romer got married in June 2005 and have three minor children together. As their marriage progressed, in the beginning of the year 2006, Romero became physically violent against Elenita. Romer committed various acts of violence against her and stated in court that it continued “even while pregnant with their second child”. But however, from 2006 to 2008 the violence continued against Elenita and her children. As the domestic violence continued, Elenita filed a
Laci Peterson, a 27-year-old wife who was eight months pregnant, disappeared on December 24, 2002. When the body of the California woman and her unborn child were found four months later, her husband, Scott, was charged with two counts of murder. Detective Craig Grogan gave a sworn statement that he had probable cause to believe Mr. Peterson committed two counts of the crime of 187 Penal Code, homicide, on or about December 23, 2002 or December 24,2002, in the county of Stanislaus. April 17, 2003 at 0658 hours the Judge of the Superior Court in Stanislaus County, California issued a warrant for the arrest of Scott Lee Peterson. The court found that the District Attorney’s office did, in fact, have probable cause to bring Scott Peterson in. The Judge specifically addressed bail in the warrant. No bail was granted. April 18, 2003 at 1110 hours, Scott Peterson was arrested at the Torrey Pines Golf Course, in Sand Diego County, California. At the time of his arrest, Peterson had colored his hair blonde, grown a beard and mustache, and was carrying $15,000.00 in cash. During his arrest police also discovered that Peterson’s car was full of camping and survival equipment. Peterson was arrested less than 20 minutes from the Mexican border. Peterson waived booking in San Mateo County, California, and was transferred back to Stanislaus County, California, where he was formally booked by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
A horrific murder happened in tiny Skidmore on December of 2004. Lisa Montgomery and Bobbi Jo Stinnett met and found out that they had much in common and became good friends (Nunes 85-86). Surprisingly, Bobbi and Lisa met in an internet chat room. Bobbi was into puppy breeding and she occasionally served as a judge. Lisa lived in Kansas where her close friends were shocked about what she was talking about. Of course, Lisa shrugged it off and she sent an email to Bobbi saying that she wanted to see the puppies (Nunes 85-86). When Lisa met Bobbi Jo she had a fake name which was Darlene Fisher because she didn’t want Bobbi to know her real identity. When Lisa sent Bobbi the email she had a criminal intent on her mind. She was planning to choke Bobbi into unconsciousness and then cut open her womb and steal Bobbi’s unborn baby. When Lisa arrived at the house she threw a rope around Bobbi’s neck and choked her until she was unconscious. That is when Lisa took a knife and started to cut open Bobbi’s stomach. Lisa had to cut through skin, fat, and muscle to get to Bobbi’s uterus. Bobbi’s baby was in eight-month gestation; Lisa cut and tied the baby’s cord. Lisa stole the baby and fled to her house in Kansas. Unfort...

Casey Anthony was accused of killing her two-year-old daughter Caylee, but because of lack of evidence, Anthony was convicted not guilty. John Cloud, from Time magazine, implies, “And yet virtually no one doubts that Anthony was involved in her child’s death. In fact, her lawyer admits that Anthony know how her daughter’s body would be disposed of” (“Few Doubt That Casey Anthony Was Involved in Her Child’s Death. But Fascination With Her Case Has Made It The First Major Murder Trial Of The Social-Media Age”). They found Caylee’s corpse duct taped by Casey’s parent’s house, in Orlando, Florida. The only evidence they found was in the family Pontiac Sunfire. The stench of decomposing flesh overpowered the trunk of the family’s car. “Why did Anthony let 30 days pass between the time Caylee went missing and the day police were notified?” questioned Tresniowski, “And how could she so blithely dan...
When viewed from a strictly medical, psychological aspect, Andrea Yates medical history indicates that after the birth of her first child, she began to suffer from various forms of depression and suicide attempts. If one only examines the paper trail and doesn’t think beyond what the medical history does or does not indicate, then perhaps, Andrea would be innocent by reason of mental insanity as the 2006 acquittal suggest. However, when viewed form a legal aspect there are several inconstancies that challenge if this former nurse was insane or if she in fact premeditated the murder of her children as well as her acquittal.
Maryclaire Dale’s article “Kindergarten kidnapper tells girl, ‘I’m not a monster’”, appears in the Bucks County Courier Times and it tells the people of Bucks County how a woman kidnapped a kindergartener from school. In Philadelphia during January of 2013, a girl was taken from her kindergarten classroom and “sexually tortured during a bizarre overnight ordeal.” The girl was an 8-year-old and she had been abducted by “former day care worker Christina Regusters”, who was 22 years old. Christina was sentenced to 40 years to life. The judge called the crime, “a horror show” because the 8-year-old girl was found “shivering under playground equipment” half naked. Christina took full responsibility for what happened and as she was charged with “kidnapping, sexual assault and other charges”
When Deborah was only sixteen she became pregnant with her first child by Cheetah and boy she liked when she was younger. Cheetah and Deborah got married and then had their second child. Deborah became very unhappy in the marriage because Cheetah started drinking and doing drugs. He started abusing Deborah. Cheetah pushed Deborah so much she almost killed him if it wasn’t for Bobbette. Deborah’s brothers Sonny and Lawrence were doing well except for Joe. Joe was another case. Joe went to the military, and the family was hoping that would do him good; but he came out worse than when he went in. Joe was threatened and beaten up by a boy named Ivy. Joe was in so much rage he went and stabbed him and killed him. Joe eventually turned himself in to the law, was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced fifteen years in prison.

The social development ministry of New Zealand found that (2002 and 2006) in the every three instances where the parent killed his or her child, one out of the three was a case whereby a parent had deliberately killed their child. The research also revealed that approximately four children died every year due to the injuries that they had suffere...
Infanticide is a way to alter the reproductive stream before the child has the status of a real person, which is culturally defined (source). The deaths of weak, illegitimate, excess, deformed and unwanted infants are not defined as murder when the infants have not yet been born into the social world. Infanticide occurs cross-culturally for a multitude of causes. The reasons for infanticide can be summed up into three categories: biological (including the health of the child and twin stigmas), economical (relation to other children, women's workload, and available resources) and cultural (preferred gender, illegitimate children). This essay will examine cross-culturally the biological, economic and cultural factors for infanticide.
...population. He played on the emotional and physically aspects of the females, who are the victims. Emotionally, the maternal instincts of women were used as means to their own abduction and rape. Physically, they were unable to defend themselves against the rape, because they were unconscious during the whole ordeal. This reinforce the purpose of the paper, to inform and create speculation of a crime that could be committed.
Andrea Yates, a nurse and mother, drowned her five children--Noah, 7; John, 5; Paul, 3; Luke, 2; and Mary, 6 months--one at a time in their family bathtub on June 20, 2001. In 2002, she was sentenced to life in prison, but due to testimony from a prosecution medical expert, she was granted a new trial by a court of appeals. After twelve men and women debated the case for 13 hours over three days, they said Yates did not know her actions were wrong when she drowned her children ("Andrea Yates Case”). In order to prove to the jurors that Yates was mentally ill, testimonies that demonstrated her illness, depression, hospitalization records, and suicide attempts were documented. They also had evidence that she had been given drugs that were not appropriate, was released from the hospital early, was overmedicated, and had discontinued taking her medicine two days before the kills transpired (Paquette).
