The role of leadership is essential in organizations. There is the need for organizational department to exhibit leadership roles to earn recognition and foster development. Leadership in relation to public relation executives is critical in an organization therefore making employment of Public Relation Practitioners to deeply conform to leadership abilities and capabilities in the field. Public Relation executives should be able to exhibit some leadership traits such as, team collaboration, ethical orientation, relationship building, self-dynamics, strategic decision making capability and knowledge management capability. It has diverse control on the profession in general. This has caused Public Relation Practitioners to incorporate social media in communication programs. Public Relation practitioners who apply or use social media networks sites have more advantage when it comes to building expert and power in the field than their colleges. Public Relation leaders engage in social media because of its connection to the profession, some of the connections are broadcasting, developing communities, observing or monitoring issues and managing crises. Social media has the ability to spread and stimulate information worldwide to reach a large number of audiences in the quickest possible time. It also help build communities in the sense that, with its nature of interactivity, community members can share experiences, ideas and discuss matters online to foster development in the community or organization. Again, social media can serve as a watch dog for organizations to know the perception of publics regarding its services so they can act appropriately if need be. Finally, through social media, Public relation leaders communicate information on crises to reach its stakeholders quickly in the process of managing crises as a result of a bad incident or a problem that organization has subjected itself to.
