The La Brea Tar Pits The La Brea Tar Pits are located in Los Angeles california. It is basicly a fossil excavation site. I will write about the pros and cons of going to the La Brea Tar pits. First I will talk why we should go back. The first reason we should go is because the movie had a lot of detail and facts that we need to know. The sights were awesome and I got to hang out with some of my friends and mess around. You actually learn a some to. Now I will talk about the cons of going to The La Brea Tar Pits. They give you an hour or so to go mess around and you get to go around the whole place. Then when the tour comes you have to do the whole thing over again. Some security guards won’t let you into a building that
The tar creek mining site originally was owned by a Native American tribe, the Quapaw. The Quapaw wanted to keep these lands, but the Bureau of Indian Affairs deemed members opposing a transaction to mining companies “incompetent” (1). In such a case the business could continue and the Bureau of Indian Affairs sold the lands to mining companies. In essence these lands were stolen from the Quapaw because they were ripe for mining. These mines were then used from approximately 1891 to 1970. In the 79 years the mines were open 1.7 million metric tons (~3.75 billion pounds) of lead and 8.8 million metric tons (~19.4 billion pounds) of zinc were withdrawn from the mine (2). The entire area around Tar Creek is known as the tri-state mining area. This tri-state area was a massive source of metals. This area accounted for 35% of the all worldwide metal for a decade. It also provided the majority of metals the United States used in World wars I and II (3).
because it made me became very curious about what is going to happen next. The play’s beginning was no as interesting as the movie’s. I also liked the acting in the movie.
...oung American men had to endure from the time that they had joined back in their boot camp days, and the brutality of war that showed them no mercy. To me the importance of the movie was to show what truly went on over in Vietnam through the eyes of a soldiers eyes of what happened, as the film created a very disturbing yet a real picture of The Vietnam War.
The U.S federal government should significantly increase fracking because oil and gas fracking is big business in America, with more than two million hydraulically fractured wells across the country producing 43 and 67 percent of our national oil and gas outputs, respectively. But in my opinion these wells also nearly played a secondary role as nuclear waste storage sites and had the Atomic Energy Commission had its way with Project Plowshare. And fracking is the process of pumping water deep into the Earth, specifically into underground oil and gas reserves, at tremendous pressures in order to break apart the surrounding rock and free the energy product, which can then be pumped out and used. However in the mid 1950s, scientists from the Atomic Energy Commission and officials from the U.S. Bureau of Mines did begin experimenting with an alternative method of fracking, one that employed nuclear bombs more powerful than anything we dropped on the Japanese.
Oil Sands are a type of bitumen deposit, the sands are naturally occurring mixtures of sand, clay, water, and an extremely dense and viscous form of petroleum called bitumen. They are found in large amounts in many countries throughout the world, but are found in extremely large quantities in Canada and Venezuela. Along with the local environmental and human-health impacts have contributed to the debate surrounding the resource. While many welcome it because it benefits the Canadian economy, Canada became U.S. and a curial energy source. To start off, a pro is that the oil sands have spurred massive economic growth in Alberta. Oil sands continue to generate huge profits to Canada and provide thousands of jobs for the residents including mining, research and
Overall I am glad that I read 2001: A Space Odyssey before I watched the movie. Both were very well made, though the movie would have been terribly confusing without the book as a guide. As opposed to choosing one or the other as my favorite, I think the two complement each other very nicely. The ending wasn’t exactly satisfying, though it left a conclusion up to the creative mind of the audience, which could definitely be taken advantage of. After reading this book, us as humans should feel humbled in knowing that we might not be as great as we think we are. Stories like this one should also encourage us to travel through space so we can find out what the meaning of life really is.
As we all know, California is in the midst of a severe drought. This drought has caused Northern and Southern California to reconsider their claims on water sources and there are only a few major water sources like the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta left. Fortunately in April 2015, The California Water Fix, also known as Bay Delta Conservation, was proposed by Governor Jerry Brown. But what is the California Water Fix project and why should it be built?
Where the minerals that America uses came from? Americans use and waste large amounts of substance and material every day. Most people disregard and ignore the places where this material may come from. Putting little to no time into researching on the subject, makes it difficult to ever figure out and appreciate the stories and history behind our beloved substance and consumption of it. But actually putting the effort of working and looking into it, someone may be pleasantly surprised at the amount of backstory on it, and may find it rather interesting. So if someone were to say, look into the history of the Berkeley pit. They would most likely find plenty of sources explaining how it supplied copper and many minerals for the U.S. for years. Of course anyone who already knew information on the pit could tell you its amazing and introcut stories of how it came to be, and how it has been doing over the years. The pit is a “toxic attraction” in the town of Butte. Being the town’s income and source of tourism. Most people in Butte Montana, the home of the pit, could tell how amazing it is.
Wanting to travel more may be an odd reaction to the films we saw in class but my points for wanting to do so are valid. There are many reasons why people people travel. Some people travel because they need a vacation, while other do so because they are on a business trip. No matter the reason we travel we always come back learning something new. Cultures change from state to state, and we learned this specifically in the films. I’d love to have the opportunity to be Anderson Cooper or the other reporters and travel the world like they do. It’s one thing to watch a film and it is another to actually experience it first hand. One scene that specifically stands out is one of the more graphic parts of the the film. The scene is with CNN news reporter Lisa Ling reporting the death of an elephant. The elephant was just killed a few days and the smell is so putrid it almost brings her to tears. Watching that scene made me so angry because it was confusing to me why people would do such a thing to an innocent creature. On the other spectrum in a different scene we see the same reporter on a boat in Costa Rica e...
If I were the director I would have reduced the amount of talking that took place in the movie. Although the movie was very complicated and did indeed require an abundant amount of information for the audience to appreciate the movie, I found myself very uninterested at some parts which led me to slowly stop paying attention. If I were the director I would give my self a pat on the back because of what great work I had done. I would feel so good because I was able to educate so many people of what happened such a long time ago, and the importance of how free we are as citizens today. This movie truly was incredible and clearly demonstrates how one man risks everything, to speak for those, who could not. To make the blind see and to lead a movement that would change the world—“Remember that God made men…equal” (William Wilberforce).

My father, brother and, I went up north so we could ride the dirt bikes with my father’s friends from work. I was as happy as a kid eating ice cream that we were going up north. The 1st day we went on some of the dirt roads and it was fun. Then we got back to the cabin and after a few hours we went back out again. We went to a lake to view and it looked nice. Then we got back and had a fire and played some games and went to bed.
My favorite summer vacation was when my Father took me to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. What made it even more memorable was the fact that it was my very first time on an airplane. I cannot recall another time in my life when I experienced so much joy. That trip to Universal Studios was the first time my Father and I actually did something together, just the two of us and was something brought me close to my Father. In this essay I will tell you about my plane ride over there, what I did right when I got there, and about my time at Universal Studios.
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
was fun and cool which also happened to be very bad. We decided we were going
