IQ Tests Are Only Predictors
Although it is considered that IQ tests are best predictors of success, but there are many other factors such as access to an extensive network, personality and sheer luck. For instance, if you are best at dealing with people, in most situations (like work and games) you will perform better than someone, who may have achieved better IQ test scores.
Some even assume that too high IQ, can work against you. People with very high IQ test scores often see others as slow and at times may come to feel misunderstood.
Interpreting IQ Test Results
Average scores for the Wechsler and Stanford-Binet tests are ranges 90 to 110. A score below 70 indicates mental retardation. Those who have IQ score over 165 are considered geniuses.

IQ testing is often criticized. For Instance, many believe that the tests are totally biased. Its results may depend as much on motivation and other factors as on inborn intelligence. Individual sections of these tests may be slightly more accurate than the overall “IQ score.” However, your IQ test results shouldn’t be used to make any assumptions about your talents or potential. These tests are designed for specific, diagnostic purposes. Why The Average Score Is 100? Psychometricians utilize a process known as standardization to make it possible to compare and interpret the meaning of IQ scores.
This process is done by administering the test to a representative sample and using these scores to establish standards, usually referred to as norms, by which all individual scores can be compared. Since the average score is 100, experts can quickly evaluate individual test scores against the average of others to determine where these scores fall on the normal distribution.

People can achieve intelligent by learning or by following their passion in whatever they love. If someone loves fixing cars there is a chance he will become a mechanic, so he will be intelligent in that careers. That is how someone becomes intelligent because they learned everything they can about their profession in book or by what they learn on the streets. To become a intelligent person is important in society because that sets a standard for us and we try to learn everything we can to be the best in our jobs and careers, so we can be the best in our field.
A genius is a person who is exceptionally intelligent or creative. One of the most famous geniuses of all time, Albert Einstein, had an IQ of 160. An individual who is considered a genius, has an IQ of 160 and up. Also mentioned in Gladwell’s book,Outliers:The Story of Success,is Christopher Langan. With an IQ of 195,Christopher Langan, is considered the smartest man in America.
Currently I am on the U-High varsity soccer team with many of my other classmates. I am currently taking a hand full of very hard, challenging courses this year and by taking these hard classes I am learning tons of new subjects, therefore raising my IQ. According to Kendra Cherry, a professional psychologist, the average IQ ranges anywhere from 85 to 120. While reading about IQ I was inquisitive to know what my own score would be so I took an online IQ test. I know that this test was probably not the most accurate test in the world but it gives a baseline, which for me was 138. This shows that my IQ is on the high range compared to the average scores. Also I am a junior this year, while there are players from every other grades on the team as well. I am on the varsity team, but I do not start and I very rarely have the chance to enter the game. On the other hand a teammate of mine, who is a freshman, starts in every game. Since I am a junior and he is a freshman, I have had more education because I have been in school for that much longer than him. Also my IQ is above average while his is probably a little bit lower than mine. Even though I have a higher IQ than him, he is a more successful soccer player than I am. Knowing this you could make the assumption that a higher IQ does not necessarily lead to being more successful in soccer.
Before answering the questions let find out what intelligence test is. It is a test consisting of a series of tasks requiring people to use various verbal and non verbal skills to measure the individual’s intellectual ability. Now that we know what an intelligence test is we can now answer the question better. Three important short comings of intelligence test that have nothing to do with intelligence are: having low motivation or high anxiety which can greatly influence the performance on the test, also IQ test may contain cultural biases in their language and or tasks that may place people of one background above people of another back ground, and members of minority groups may have little experience with this kind of test or may be uncomfortable with examiners of a different ethnic back ground than them (Comer, 2013, pp.107).
General intelligence tends to relate to various degrees with each other (Cohen 2012). An example of this is that if an individual is good in math, they may also be good in spelling. In this weeks reading we reviewed several different models of measurement of intelligence. In regard to these theories and general intelligence (g), the theories are various but have commonality and overlap. The Spearman's two-factor theory is if a test has high correlation with other test than the measurement of g is highly saturated (Cohen, 2012). The greater the importance of g on a test, the better the test is believed to predict intelligence
The author argues that certain decision leads to vast amount of untapped human potential and limits success to few who are selected unjustly. This example supports “Mathews Effect”. The Gladwell’s example of Bill Gates proves the “10,000 Hour Rule”, He explained that the timing and opportunity played a huge role to become an expert at computer programming. Bill Gates had access to computers decades before computers became mainstream. Such a timing helped him capture the opportunity to master the tool of trade and put him in the perfect position to start Microsoft. The Gladwell’s example of experiment by Lewis Terman, He argues about that a person’s IQ have a limited control over success. He claims that there is a minimal difference in the levels of success attained by those with IQs between 125 and 170. The author adds that IQ cannot efficiently measure person’s creativity. A person who has a high IQ does not mean that it has a high chance of winning a Nobel Prize because other kind of intelligence matter too. With the help of these facts, Gladwell proves that the relationship between IQ and success is
There have been many studies of IQ measurement. Some believe in testing and then looking at biology or heritage of the child. These people also like to use statistics to try to put some sort of explanation on IQ levels. Then there are other groups that use cultural ecology. They study IQ by what effect the environment has on a child, and feel testing it is unfair to the child. The problem is that these two groups rarely come together to help each other. So there are big questions as to what IQ really is and how it should be measured.
According to the website, I have an IQ of 113. I feel as though a site like www.iqtest.com could produce a “g” score because they make you pay too see an analysis of your results, which indicates to me that they put some effort into producing fairly accurate scores. General intelligence, also known as “g”, describes an individual’s specific mental ability, which is measured by tasks on an IQ test (Myers p. 405). The site breaks down your overall IQ results into different categories of intelligence and gives you an IQ score for how well you tested in a given area. For example, there is a category for “spatial intelligence” which is ones ability to predict what actions will happen based on varied conditions (Website). By looking at the broken down results you can compare areas you have strengths in, versus the areas you might struggle in. This is in accordance to what Charles Sherman found when he discovered that people who score high in one area tend to score high in similar categories (Myers p. 405). For a person to see what their “g” score would be they would simply have to look at which category they scored highest in and from that they would see in which area they have the highest intelligence in.
One of the biggest topics in the educational world is standardized tests. All fifty states have their own standards following the common core curriculum. There are many positives and negatives that go with the standardized tests. A standardized test is any type of “examination that's administered and scored in a predetermined, standard manner” (Popham, 1999). These standardized tests are either aptitude tests or achievement tests. Schools use achievement tests to compare students.
One of the most definitive things ever said regarding the nature of intelligence was that intelligence is whatever IQ tests measure. The IQ test has been in use throughout the 20th century and serves as an accepted measure of a person’s intelligence. It is used by institutions such as schools and the army to screen people’s level of intelligence and decisions are made based on that. The IQ test consists of a series of questions regarding certain skills such as vocabulary, mathematics, spatial relations. The scores that a person gets on these tests depend on the amount of questions that a person answers correctly. The actual score that a person gets is dependant on how others in that age group do on those particular questions.
Dictionaries add still more definitions: Funk & Wagnall’s defines intelligence as “The faculty of perceiving and comprehending meaning; mental quickness; active intellect; understanding” , while Webster’s defines it as “the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations; the skilled use of reason.” While some of these definitions are similar, none of them are exactly the same.
Several people have developed the idea that as a person gets older their intelligence will decrease, this assumption has been developed through the idea that as an individual’s age increases, their fluid intelligence skills deteriorates. However there is more to intelligence than just fluid intelligence, crystallised intelligence works in much the same way except in reverse, with the older generation having more crystallised intelligence than younger people in their teenage years. Crystallized intelligence consists of acquired skills and knowledge which comes from ...

Low IQ score: IQ score of 70 or below is considered a low score. For standardized tests of intelligence, the average score is fixed at 100. Over 140 is considered high or genius-level. 68% of all scores fall within minus or plus 15 points of the mean (so range 85 to 115).
...lutions, fix them to my fullest ability; just like I get better and excel in my art, and hopefully narrow my list down to one solution that works the best. I have found that how often I solve difficult problems does not necessarily depend so much on my knowledge or intelligence so much as my creativity. For some reason, I thought, this was, and is, often mistaken for intelligence. But when I thought about this some more, I realized that it made sense. Intelligence is basically the ability to come up with a solution to a difficult problem. With this definition of my own understanding, intelligence basically depends almost entirely on how a person puts his or her imagination to work. Imagination at work creates wonderful things that can change everything around you. For example; economy and technology are growing and are very good examples of what imagination can do.
