Proof of the existence of a necessary being, is followed by a logical belief that He, being God, has revealed Himself to us, as leaving us to our own devices now would not make sense. This incites a search for a religion that recognizes the truths realized, and contains revelation. Some religions, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Paganism, can be eliminated because of their disregard of basic truths. In fact, only three religions claim revelation and worship a necessary being: Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. Of the three, Christianity is the only one that was founded by God Himself. Knowledge of Christianity comes from the records of Sacred Scripture. However, these records mean nothing if the New Testament is not a reliable …show more content…
Throughout the text, Jesus claims to be God multiple times. This is seen in John 14:8-11, summarized to “The Father and I are one.” John 8:58 also contains one of these claims, “Jesus said to them, ‘Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM.’” Another is seen in Matt 26:63-66, “But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, ‘I order you to tell us under oath before the living God whether you are the Messiah, the Son of God.’ Jesus said to him in reply, ‘You have said so. But I tell you: From now on you will see ‘the Son of Man seated at the right had of the power’ and ‘coming on the clouds of heaven.’’ Then the high priest tore his robes and said, ‘He has blasphemed! What further need have we of witnesses? You have now heard the blasphemy; what is your opinion?’ They said in reply, ‘He deserves to die.’” When a man claims to be God, there are only three things that he could be: a liar, a lunatic, or he could truly be God. It can be determined that Jesus was not a lunatic, as He was wise, debated well and spoke clearly, told insightful parables, and obtained many followers. In the same way, it is determined that He was not a liar as He acted only with integrity and ultimately died because of a statement that He could have retracted when He realized how the situation would end, if it was false. This leaves only the option that Jesus was truly God, and …show more content…
This incredibly daunting question has an incredibly simple solution. The true Church will be One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. It will have unity, or a oneness, in its teaching and infallibly teaches Christ’s doctrine. It will be Holy because with Christ as its head, we, the body, should also be holy. The Church will be universal, and meant for all, for a Catholic Church is everywhere with its faithful, its missionaries, and the like. Finally, this Church will be descended from the Apostles, and teach what they taught and believed. There is only one Church whose origin is traced back to the Apostles and fulfills all other criteria, and that is the Catholic Church. Still, with these facts supporting the Church, there are objections against it and its status as the one, true Church. Some cite the corruption of bad popes, but the Church does not claim that its members will be perfect and will not sin, and this includes its popes, and even in the cases of corrupted popes, the Church remained faithful to doctrine. Others use the fact that the Church teaches things not contained in scripture as justification. While this is true, those who make this claim ignore the fact that there are churches that blatantly ignore teachings written in scripture. It is also written that Christ did many things that were not
b) Biblical Foundation Many question if Jesus ever claimed to be God. First, Jesus claimed to be the unique Son of God, resulting in the Jewish leaders stoning Him ‘because you,’ the leaders said, ‘a mere man, claim to be God’ (John 10:33). On another occasion, a High Priest asked him: ‘Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?’ to which Jesus replied ‘I am, and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven’ (Mark 14:61-62). Jesus also claimed to possess the same attributes of God. In the Bible, Jesus has never been recorded saying the exact words, “I am God.” However, Jesus’ original spectators seemed to think He said “I am the Father.” They were even ready to kill Him right there. The controversy is: Jesus didn’t have to say the specific words “I am God,” to claim this. Jesus did, however,...
So could Jesus be the Son of God? Again, Jesus lived a life so noble, amazing, and loving that it has been remembered by billions of people and has been the center of a religion for thousands of years! If it were all a lie, why would a man die a horrific death for something he knew was not true? If he was crazy, why was there never any indication in any secular writing that would affirm this truth? He lived a life worthy of what he preached and he predicted his death and resurrection.
Now I am going to put the Old Testament to the test to see if it has credibility to be the trustworthy document that it claims. "Religion, if it is worth believing, must be based on facts. Yes, there is room for faith, but unless it is faith in facts, faith is not only useless but destructive .The Bible cannot afford to have historical errors.
It is apparent that the innumerable religions of the world are diverse. Theists believe that there is one personal God. On the other hand, Hindus believe in many gods, agonistics hold no judgments on religion and do not believe in god or disbelieve in god and atheists deny any God exists. Just by evaluating the variances in beliefs, it is observable to distinguish the difference. Thus, any religion that makes an allegation that it has to be the only true religion must be considered as false.
The Proof of the Existence of God There are many arguments that try to prove the existence of God. In this essay I will look at the ontological argument, the cosmological. argument, empirical arguments such as the avoidance of error and the argument from the design of the. There are many criticisms of each of these that would say the existence of God can’t be proven that are perhaps.
To begin, before a person can debate the validity of anything, they must first understand the topic they are debating. So is the case here. A person must first understand the Bible and its origins before they can try and prove or disprove it. The Bible itself is composed of 66 books divided int...
Christianity is the most widespread religion in the world with two billion followers. Many aspects of Christianity are based on Judaism (Tiemann 526). Christianity is based on the life, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christ’s message to everyone is personal salvation and also promises faith and love triumphs over sin and death. The origins of Christianity are based on the book that Christians read, the Holy Bible. Christians believe the Bible is God’s word. In the Bible, God talks about The Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments are agreements between God and his chosen people. Christianity is an example of monotheism. What makes up the God that Christians believe is God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. The three of these makes up the Trinity of Christianity (Brown 76). Some of the Christian practices are gathering at churches for worship, fellowship and engage in the world through evangelism. One of the beliefs that Christians have is Jesus will come back to earth and take those who believe in Him back to Heaven.
According to a Christian, there is one true God, and he revealed Himself through the Holy trinity, which is made up of three people; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They also believe that God alone created the world and everything that encompasses it from nothing in six days. They believe that the world was good until Adam sinned against God, and now all people are born into sin. They believe that God sent his only son Jesus to save the world from sin and that Jesus died for all their sins and rose from the dead. They believe that the Holy bible is the sacred word before and after Jesus’s time and that they should live by it to please God and thank him for his son. They believe that people are saved by faith through the grace of Jesus Christ.
Christian Science is an idealistic and most radical form of transcendental religiosity. The study of Christian Science teaches a feeling of understanding of God's goodness and the differences between good and evil, life and death. The purpose of this paper is to address how the study of Christian Science helps us better understand the impact of globalization in America, as well as the impact of American on globalization. This paper is important because globalization features a dominant worldview. All throughout the world people believe, study and teach different types of religious movements that impact others. People need to better understand how certain religions modify, conflict with, and impact the world. First, it will discuss the life and work of the founder, Mary Baker Eddy. Secondly, it will examine the primary rituals and religious services of the Christian Science movement. Then, it will outline the precursors and history of the religion. In the conclusion, a response will be offered to the question of how Christian Science helps us better understand the impact of globalization on America and of America on globalization.
Instinctually, humans know that there is a greater power in the universe. However, there are a few who doubt such instinct, citing that logically we cannot prove such an existence. St. Thomas Aquinas, in his Summa Theologica, wrote of five proofs for the existence of God. The Summa Theologica deals with pure concepts; these proofs rely on the world of experience - what one can see around themselves. In these proofs, God will logically be proven to exist through reason, despite the refutes against them.
For centuries now Christians have claimed to possess the special revelation of an omnipotent, loving Deity who is sovereign over all of His creation. This special revelation is in written form and is what has come to be known as The Bible which consists of two books. The first book is the Hebrew Scriptures, written by prophets in a time that was before Christ, and the second book is the New Testament, which was written by Apostles and disciples of the risen Lord after His ascension. It is well documented that Christians in the context of the early first century were used to viewing a set of writings as being not only authoritative, but divinely inspired. The fact that there were certain books out in the public that were written by followers of Jesus and recognized as being just as authoritative as the Hebrew Scriptures was never under debate. The disagreement between some groups of Christians and Gnostics centered on which exact group of books were divinely inspired and which were not. The debate also took place over the way we can know for sure what God would have us include in a book of divinely inspired writings. This ultimately led to the formation of the Biblical canon in the next centuries. Some may ask, “Isn’t Jesus really the only thing that we can and should call God’s Word?” and “Isn’t the Bible just a man made collection of writings all centered on the same thing, Jesus Christ?” This paper summarizes some of the evidences for the Old and New Testament canon’s accuracy in choosing God breathed, authoritative writings and then reflects on the wide ranging

The doctrine of the church is ecclesiology, which comes from the greek word church - human beings who are like Christ. This doctrine is a doctrine for the universal church. We sometimes enter a singular way of talking about our culture when the bible speaks in plurality. Ecclesiology gives us the basis of our belief and marks of the church which gives us clarity of what it means to be “one holy catholic and apostolic.” The church bears four marks: Unity, Holiness, Catholicity, and Apostolicity. These four marks are the truth about the church. We must act in Unity because the church is one, 1 Corinthians 12:12 say “Just as the body is one and as many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” The Holiness is a inheritance given to us by Christ. However we can not achieve that alone. As we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, He actualizes that for us. Catholicity is the universality and wholeness the church, making room for people to enter the body of Christ. Lastly is apostolicity which is about the authority and truth, and the authority of the apostles is in their eyewitness testimony of Jesus (2 Peter 1:16). The church teaches about the apostles truth that is true to the gospel of Jesus

All over the world, many people practice a religion of their choice. With any religion people participate in many rituals that show their commitment to their religion. Amongst the five major religions of the world, which are Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism, they are all significant to what people believe in. Each of them include rituals, places of worship, a God or Gods, and so much more. The five major religions of the world each have key characteristics that highlight both their similarities and differences.
