Progression of Technology
Imagine a world with robots taking over and controlling the world. This is a major concern for many people. Technology is a continually growing industry and humans are frequently trying to improve it; the real question is do humans really want to progress or are we scared of what could happen if we go further? They predicted technologies like flying cars because back in the late 1960s we landed on the moon. That time period was the end of a very technologically advanced society as Cowen argues. To prove we are not as technologically advanced as we hoped take this into consideration: Heesun Wee, a CNBC reporter, wrote an article about robots. In the year 2000, a robot was made that was designed to take commands and perform tasks. With the upbringing of robots, people were scared that they would start to take over their jobs (Wee). Bill gates in 2007 predicted "I can envision a future in which robotic devices will become a nearly ubiquitous part of our day-to-day lives," this prediction was not true. We as a society are still not at this point of robots taking over. Although some places like airports a person can go to an electronic screen and print off his or her ticket.
