I’m currently on a professional practice placement at RMIT University (RMIT Pharmacovigilance Research Group), Bundoora Campus. I learned a lot that could be included in the final reflection like how my current experience has compared to my prior experiences/learning, and which skills I developed during this placement and intend to further develop my plan and skills in future; particularly my ability to prioritise tasks and demonstrate efficiency in completing work and fulfilling academic goals.
The current objective is to achieve specific outlined goals on my project “Measuring particular aspects of gender differences in adverse drug reactions (ADRS)”. Writing and time management skills were the main goal in the placement year. My professional
The aim of this essay is a reflective account in which I will describe a newly acquired skill that I have learned and been able to implement within my role as a trainee assistant practitioner. (T.A.P.) for Foundation for Practice. I have chosen to reflect upon neurological observations on patients that will be at risk of neurological deterioration. Before I begin any care or assessments, I should have a good theoretical underpinned knowledge, of the skill that I am about to put into practice, and have a good understanding of anatomy and physiology, in order to make an accurate assessment of a patients neurological status. I will be making a correct and relevant assessment to identify any needs or concerns to establish the patient’s individualized care, and make observations to determine an appropriate clinical judgement.
The purpose of this reflective analytical study is to focus on a piece of work undertaken whilst on placement; I will look to reflect on my ability as a practitioner with focus on my knowledge of theoretical approaches and understanding of legislation, policies, and procedures. For my first direct placement as a social work student I have been part of a local authority Community Care Team (CCT), working with adults over the age of 65 or living with disabilities. Through this placement I have been given the opportunity to work alongside individuals and carers, assessing their needs and implementing service that can best support them.
Taking the time to reflect on one’s career can increase self-awareness and enhance professional development. A career development plan is a confidential and integral document created by an individual which outlines the activities undertaken during their life journey. Therefore, a professional development plan documents one's goals and skills required to accomplish dreams and is influenced by internal and external factors. Hence, a professional development plan is reminiscent of ones’ past experiences and a glance at the future. Having a professional development plan in place is critical for graduate students in nursing because it enables one to keep track of their progression. My primary purpose in writing this developmental
Reflection is a key element of the human learning process. It can be used to justify aspects of practice and legitimise the knowledge gained from it, as opposed to traditional forms of learning.

Potential applicants should first ensure that they are eligible to become PTCB certified. Although there is no age minimum and pharmacy experience is not necessary, applicants are required to have a high school diploma or an equivalent educational degree, such as a GED.To prepare for this exam, applicants should consider enrolling in a technician training course, especially one accredited by an organization such as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Applicants who feel that they
During March 2016, in Stage 1 of the pharmacy degree, I attended a two day work placement in a community pharmacy as part of the Work Based Learning module within the Capability unit. The purpose of Work Based Learning is to increase engagement with learning and to develop skills specific to patient pathways. This will link to Stage 4 of the MPharm course in which the main unit is Patient Centred Care. Therefore, it is imperative that I enhance my patient education skills through my own education.
Throughout my final ten weeks at my placement, I have grown and overcome so many obstacles. I have accomplished a wide range of skills since the beginning and have been improving on them as I gained experience. At my placement as a student nurse, I have gained a lot of confidence, skills, knowledge and experiences that have helped me act and work in a professional way. All the experiences I have had during the ten weeks of my student years have helped me in shaping me into a professional.
The care that patients receive has the potential to improve in the course of reflective practice. Having a structure of reflective practice also has the potential to develop staff knowledge and to improve the application of professional standards. It offers the health care professional to make sense of complicated and difficult situations, acts as a method to learn from experiences and thus improve performance and patient care, identify educational needs, highlight barriers to development and ways of identifying improvements, and provide evidence of continuous professional development which is a prerequisite to the profession of nursing. In addition staff could become increasingly more motivated and empowered, better critical thinkers and self-directed professionals.
Reflection is a key part of our personal development plan that is significant from both academic and employment perspectives. It investigates and someway measures our present level of skills and knowledge by looking back to reflect our latest performance and monitoring future improvements (Gallagher K., 2013, p. 23-24).
What is next? That is a loaded question, in my opinion. Like several of my classmates, I have several years of work experience in the health information management (HIM) field. However, in order to set myself apart from my peers and invest in my future, I decided to apply for the Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) program. The HIIM program has taught me a great deal about the HIM field. Some courses focused on topics that I did not already know about, while other courses strengthened my current knowledge and skill set. As I near the completion of the HIIM program, I have decided that I am interested in seeking a new position. While my current role is not an entry level position, and does require some experience, it is not a leadership or progressive position. I feel this program has added value to my skill set and prepared me to seek a position with more responsibility and leadership.
Help improved my clinical skills and professional development, made me proactive and thus have learnt that reflection is an important tool for student nurse to improve on their practice.
Today’s class was very beneficial because we got to collaborate with our colleagues. Being able to use the curriculum document and create learning objectives was very useful. At my practicum placement, I am also teaching lessons and planning for them. An activity like this is relevant to my practicum placement, but will also help my teaching. For example, when writing your learning goals, I learned you could write “upon completion of this lesson students should be able to”. This is an excellent way to list the learning objectives for the lesson. In today’s class, my memory was refreshed about Blooms Taxonomy, which I learned in both my science and ELL class. However, todays class allowed me to understand it and apply it specifically in math.
Some of my reflections that I stated were, “I am hard working, self determined, honest, kind, and sympathetic. I am sometimes a perfectionist which makes it hard to make mistakes because I choose to look at those mistakes as failure not learning opportunities, this only hinders my ability to learn and move on from that mistake. I am passionate about things that I do in life giving it my best effort”(Myself). I have learned how I handle stress, what trigger these feeling of being overwhelmed and out of control of situations. Figure out different techniques and ways to revert the onset of stressful situations, so I wont feel overwhelmed in the end is very important, not only because there could be mental and physical break downs from it, but also so my work as a student and a future therapist wont be affected form it. I have also shown myself that I like to see the good in people and chose to give them second and third chances, but then again I have also learned how to not be naive when giving them these chances. Lastly, I have learned that I am one that puts on a hard outer shell so that people to not see my weaknesses and vulnerabilities, which can sometime be good when dealing with some patients or people in
My reflection is about residency one and the change I see in myself. I am not the same person as I was before the residency started. I have learned so much I will never be able to articulate it all in a single paper. Building peer relationships to help gain a support system was one of my goals. I learned it is very important to be yourself, make good eye contact, use encouraging words, and take time for self-care when you are in the program and counseling.
