Ah school sports. The lovely two hours of learning and practicing one of your favorite sports. Just to name a few lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, and baseball.
During a normal school day you have your usual periods math, science, english, world cultures, art or bad, maybe a language, and P.E. That's a regular school day for kids unless your in sixth grade and up at some schools where you are aloud to do an after school sport! After school sports are the best thing ever for someone who loves to be active even for someone who doesn't like to be active. One out of three kids are obese or overweight from the age of two to nineteen according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC and 6.9% out of 50% students do and after school sport.
The typical after school day for a kid is going home getting a snack and going to sit on the couch to watch T.V. or go on their phone, iPad, tablet, or iPod. Kids need after school activities it keeps their heart rates up and to keep them healthy. My typical after school day is going to volleyball, soccer, or softball depending on the season, and on Tuesday's and Thursday's I have club volleyball after my seasonal school sport. I always have a full after school day and all of my friends do too!
Some schools are providing after school sports the kids are just choosing not to do them. Schools also have physical education or P.E. In some schools during P.E. the kids are just sitting around doing nothing. P.E. is not fully helping kids out being active. Also most kids don't like going to P.E. so if they had the choice to do an after school sport they shouldn't have to do P.E. they could end up doing a study hall. Thats a great reason why I think kids should have to do an after school
Playing a school sport enables you to bond with your teammates, making lifelong friends. Sports are fun and thrilling; they help kids get into shape. For years now there have been kids who play sports who also are very good in academics. Sports help kids get organized and teach them to balance their school work with sports. The article to start all the buzz about no sports in high school is written by
High schools sports have been around for many years. High schools offer many different sports such as, football, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, and soccer. Sports are a great way students get involved in school. High school teams have many different levels. The levels are varsity, junior varsity, and freshman. High school sports encourage competition and school spirt. Although joining a sport takes great effort, time commitment, and personal sacrifices, valuable lessons can be learned.
When I go to a gymnastics meet and do really good, so I get that 1st place medal or trophy. It feels amazing, I mean the sport gymnastics is competitive and I sure do love competitive sports. The competitiveness gets you that rush of excitement. You feel nervous, but excited to get in there and try your hardest. Kids make better choices and have committed when they have the drawbacks of participating in competitive youth sports.
Some schools force students to participate in organized school sports. However, I believe that schools should not make this a requirement. Some students may have medical conditions, family situations that don't allow them to participate in organized school sports, or they simply may not have the time.

The distraction of after school sports can be avoided easily by making the bold decision of shutting the sports down. Although many say sports are needed; numerous people believe that after school athletics are a distraction which results in students’ failing grades. Therefore, schools should get rid of after class sports because athletics teams are too expensive, students will receive higher grades, and learners will have extra time to
According to American Academy of Pediatrics, they believe that a child needs a scheduled recess at school daily because of its effects on children. Recently, schools have cutting down on recess time because of poor grades and standards are rising. What they don't know is that a child needs a break from work like everyone else does. Schools should include recess in Middle school and High school because it helps lower obesity, lower stress, and develop social skills .
For decades, students have been in school sports; however, they are experiencing a drop in their grades as well. After school activities can cost districts’ a great deal of money and they interfere with students’ time to study. Therefore, school sports shouldn’t be allowed, to save districts’ thousands of dollars a year, help students score better academically, and America will not lag behind other countries in academics.
Teaching kids to be leaders in today’s world is a hard task that many people have tried to do and have been unsuccessful, but youth sports, on the other hand, have no problem teaching kids these important life skills. Ever since Youth competitive sports existed people have been arguing over whether they are. Youth competitive sports teach kids many important life skills, for example, they teach kids how to work together with other people. Another life lesson that sports teach is leadership skills. Although some people say kids shouldn’t play youth competitive sports because they can get injured, the pros like teaching life skills outweigh the cons by a lot.
Students often focus on after school sports instead of dedicating their time to academic purposes. Even though participating in athletics can sharpen the brain and keep children healthy; engaging in physical activities makes studying difficult. Therefore, districts should get rid of after school sports because they cost immense amounts of money, students who participate can be distracted, and athletes can easily fall behind in their academic career. Schools spend vast sums of money each year for after school sports, which leaves academic classes with scarce resources.
Are high school sports beneficial or not for students? I personally believe if a student is in a high school sport they’re forced to prioritize between school and their sport, and at a young age I believe the student would decide to use his time to improve in his sport instead of school. Which in the long run would affect his academics, unless they decide to stay up late and work on their homework to keep up with both school and their sport. But, even like that in time the lack of sleep would catch up to them, and cause them to do even worse in both academics, and sports. High school sports are like the lotto in my opinion, many play but only a few get rewarded for their work. Therefore, high school sports cause more negativity than positivity.
Everyday athletes all around the world get ready for a game day it is a time that they have been working for their whole week of practice. No matter the sport every single athlete always want an opportunity with the game in the balance to make a huge play and win the game for there team it is a dream that so many people have no matter what level a athlete is at whether it be professional, college or even just high school sports. Having the chance to single handedly be a main reason for a win or even the “hero” of the game so to speak is something that for a athlete is like being a little kid on christmas morning waking up and finding a whole bunch of presents under the tree that santa left you when you were little. I was lucky to have a wish
Sports programs have been an integral part of all schools. They support the academics of the school and therefore foster success in life. These programs are educational and help produce productive citizenship. They help students experience and build skills that may help them in their future, like interpersonal and time management skills. Education may kindle the light of knowledge, but sports help to maintain the proper physique. Sports are also an important means of entertainment and a use for energy after long hours of study. Sports increase a student’s performance not only in the classroom but also in their life.
As Sarah Otto mentions in her text, in American schools there are many different extracurricular activities you can choose between, such as sports and math clubs. I would like to have that in my dream school as well. I think that the students would really appreciate doing something they really like at the end of the day after a day full of studies. An extracurricular activity would be good to relieve stress from the school
Two-thirds of children who participate in extracurricular activities are expected to attain at least a bachelor’s degree, whereas only half of children that do not participate do (National Center for Education Statistics, 1995). Childhood is a very important time in our lives, a time when we develop many vital skills that follow us into adulthood. Some people laugh or scoff at us parents that keep our children to busy schedules. Those same people would also argue that our children should be allowed to have a childhood, to not be so tightly scheduled in their daily lives. Before jumping on that bandwagon, I would suggest doing a little research. Participating in after-school activities has shown to benefit children in many ways. Children should
