Introduction
Both entrance and release have been reported to raise crime rates in communities up to a certain point.( drakulick, crutchfield, matsueda & rose (2012) The united states has been known as the “world’s warden” due to having the highest incareration rate in the world. With numbers exceeding 630,000 of prisoners being released each year. Most of them are bound to supervision, monitoring, and numerious extra conditions set in by the criminal justice system. They tend to find it hard to get a job in a very limited range of available options, making it difficult to pay large legal fees. The parole system has become focused more on supervision and inflicting punishment rather than re establishment and help.(drakulich et al 2012) The large number of release each year and the challenges have made state services very overwhelmed. (drakulich et al 2012) Upon returning to society, offenders are faced with a lack of resources, such as a small job offers, considerable necessities and laying a large strain on the family unit. ( drakulich et al 2012) Reetnry tends to be more difficult for those who are suddenly released. Another difficulty ex-offenders face is substance abuse making planning for reentry hard. (fox, 2012) Because of the large number of releases and the obstacles ex prisoners face, planning for them has become a priority. (fox, 2012) Various federal government agencies, including those from housing and employment, have teamed up to address challenges former prisoners face. The Department of Justice gave all 50 states money in order to respond the issues of reentry and start programs. Development of “correctional and street based services” is how many of the states used the money. Local agencies outlined courses to take on the numerous conditions of reentry and determine necessities before offenders are released and to combine various support systems and agencies.
