Hedonism is a word from Greek origin, which mean joy, delight and pleasure. According to the school of Hedonism pleasure is the only thing that is intrinsically good for people while pain is intrinsically bad. In other words humans are motivated by pleasure or pain only and pleasure has a worth whereas pain has disvalue. There are two types of pleasure, which are physical pleasure and attitudinal pleasure. Physical pleasures are those of pleasant feelings or sensations such as tasting a dessert, sitting in a hot tub, enjoying sex, falling in love and so on. It may eradicate prejudice and discrimination because each individual’s happiness is calculated as it. The primary weakness of Utilitarianism has to do with justice as it could require us to violate the standards of justice. “For example, imagine that you are a judge in a small town. Someone has committed a crime, and there has been some social unrest resulting in injuries, violent conflict, and some rioting. As the judge, you know that if you sentence an innocent man to death, the town will be calmed and peace restored. If you set him free, even more unrest will erupt, with more harm coming to the town and its people. If I don’t care about having enough money for a new phone, then “If you want to have enough money to buy a new phone, then get a job” doesn’t apply to me; it gives me no reason to get a job. If I don’t mind going to prison, then “If you don’t want to go to prison, then don’t steal cars” doesn’t apply to me; it gives me no reason not to steal cars. (Moral Responsibility para 3) On the other hand categorical imperative is one that “represents an action as itself objectively necessary, without regard to any further end hence if the action is thought of as a good in itself and therefore as necessary for a will which of itself conforms to reason as its principle.” (Cahn 106 para 5,6) According to Kant morality consist of categorical imperatives, which tell us what to do irrespective of our desires. Morality does not state if you want to stay out of prison don’t steal instead relays the message to not steal weather we want to stay out of prison or not. (Moral Responsibility para 5) So, eating tasty food is always enjoyable but not necessarily good for our health therefore choosing healthy and sustainable food would beneficial for one own self and the larger community, as the production of such goods is environmentally
