'Pregnant women should listen to comforting music
Music is one the most powerful tools used for human expression; it transcends culture, race, and age and has the capability of stirring one's emotion in a rather distinct way. Music can make a person sing, smile, fall asleep, or relax. For an unborn child, music prepares the brain and ear to listen, interpret and produce sounds. Research has indicated that the prenatal music stimulation is beneficial to both the unborn baby and the mom. The paper shall discuss the importance of pregnant women listing to the comforting music. The paper shall indicate that listening to comforting music can help in creating an outstanding bonding experience for the mother and the baby, reducing the levels of stress during pregnancy, enhancing the stimulation of the growing brain of the unborn baby.

Studies indicate that high-stress levels might lead increased risk of premature delivery, behavior problems in kids, and low birth weights. Further on, pregnancy stress increases the probability of the child having a cognitive delay, depression, and anxiousness. It is integral that mothers minimize anxiety and stress during pregnancy so that they the mother might provide the infant with an optimal environment in which the infant shall grow (Lullabelly 1). As such, listening to the comforting music relaxes muscles, reducing stress hormones and promotes a state of well-being for both the infant and the mom. The types of emotions that are developed in the womb differ. Babies in the womb are supposed to be able to recognize love, happiness, sadness and stress. Talking or playing music is believed to comfort a baby in the womb, and help the baby understand the emotion of love. Hearing voices outside the womb will also help the baby decide the difference between happiness and sadness created on pitch and sound level of voices. oxytocin; which has been called the ‘hormone of love’. Although there are many factors that affect the development of the fetus, research on the specific effects of prenatal maternal stress and the resulting negative outcomes for the development of the fetus will be reviewed. While there is knowledge of these harmful effects in scientific and medical communities, researchers are still in the midst of discovering the results of these negative effects on human development. It is true that music has a compact link to our emotions. Music assists people to overcome the bad situations in their life, just like it did for Sonny, the barmaid, or some other people in the Harlem. The correlation between music and individuals is a very heavily researched topic. This literature review will critically evaluate the claim made by Don Campbell (1997, p.24) that ‘playing Mozart makes babies smarter’. This review will look at the history of the Mozart effect and also look at a range of sources that support and also go against the claim that the Mozart effect makes babies smarter. These claims will be analysed through the three main measurements in relation the Mozart effect these are spatial reasoning, arousal and also mood.

In other hand, sound or music could cure one’s stress. Different people deal with different music; some people like rock metal, pop, soul music, jazz and so on. Music could let people’s mind feel calm as well relax. Listening to music can have a very relaxing effect on people’s minds and bodies, especially slow or quiet classical music. This type of music can have a beneficial effect on dealing stress. Relaxing is a way most important to settle down the emotion; when emotion calm and relax, stress will be gone away. As music can absorb our attention, it acts as a distraction at the same time it helps to explore emotions. This means it can be a great aid to meditation, helping to prevent the mind wandering. Greenberg Jerrold give example of how music make one clam, “When people are still baby in their mother’s womb, the heart beat always affect them through which it has bring calm and protective to them.” (2004, p.199). Hence, a sound, a rhythm, a beat has naturally direct send message to one’s mind that bring him calm, relax, safe just like a baby under protection of a mother.
There is no voice more comforting than Mama’s. In the womb we are suspended in safe warmth, hearing every noise that Mama makes. And we don’t just hear her voice. We feel its vibrations, its muffled hum, through our ears and our entire forming bodies. It’s no wonder that that is often the only voice that can comfort us in the distress of our new little lives. Yet, what of the mother who cannot speak? Can she still comfort her baby? Yes, because it is much more than vocal chords that connect a baby with its birth mother. After all, Baby eats all that Mama eats, breathes Mama’s air, knows Mama’s way of moving and laughing…Baby feels every surge of adrenaline that Mama feels. Bonds don’t get more intimate than that. Even after Baby is born, this bond is strengthened through long bouts of staring into each other’s eyes, through feeling the lulling rhythm of Mama’s breathing while sleeping against her chest, through time spent together saturated in touch and play. This phenomenon of intimacy is so powerful that it surpasses any blindness or handicap Mama could possibly have.
