It has been a pleasure working with you as a student this semester at Alvin Community College. I am writing this letter to you in order to describe to you the mathematic skills I have acquired prior to enrolling in your class as well as to describe to you which mathematic skills I currently lack. Prior to enrolling in your class, I completed College Algebra at Alvin Community College as well as a Precalculus course under you instruction. I also completed math courses up to Algebra II at Clear Creek High School. I have struggled with math courses (and all of school for that matter) a great deal in the past because I have been unwilling to invest the time necessary studying in order to succeed instead of spending that time leisurely. I feel confident that I can learn and understand material presented to me provided I am willing to make that sacrifice. In most cases, I am unaware of what I am unfamiliar with until it is brought to my immediate attention. I am, however, aware that despite completing Precalculus, I have absolutely no recollection of logarithms. Furthermore, I know that I feel uncomfortable working with absolute values and with inequalities. I believe this is the case because I generally neglected my Precalculus class. Fortunately, I have been able to hold myself steady in this semester’s Calculus class due to my strong understanding of Algebra. I currently intend to review Precalculus material such as logarithms during the Thanksgiving break in order ensure that I will not fall behind in future classes when more difficult subjects are introduced and already require that I fully understand
