Although there are patterns for causation of psychopathy, there is not one definite way to determine how to identify a child as a psychopath simply because they are not fully developed yet. Since a child is constantly developing and interacting with his or her environment, the child is also constantly advancing in their social and mental skills. Even though a child’s family life might be abusive, they can still have healthy relationships with others and therefore grow up to be “normal.” The term “pre-psychopathy” should be used when identifying the disorder within a child since children have the ability to adapt and change as they grow up (Sulestrowska 36).
