I didn't always pray for my husband. I disappointingly admit this.
To be honest, I'm not sure why I didn't pray for him. We have been married for 15 years now so I can not use the excuse of being a newly wed or not knowing about such things.
No matter the pitiful excuses I could possibly drum up to make myself feel better. I failed.
One of the greatest privileged a wife has is to pray for her husband.
The good news is that now I do pray for him. And you should be praying for your husband too.
It's a small thing really, but having the right heart and attitude to pray for our husbands has such a huge impact.
To give we must be filled. To pray for our husbands as God calls us to do, first we must seek the Holy Spirit to fill us so we

Our coffee maker won't give us its dark colored liquid of yumminess if it isn't plugged into a source of electricity. Neither can we give the best of ourselves to our husbands if we aren't plugged into the Holy Spirit.
We can fill our spiritual tanks by intentionally pursuing a relationship with God. Making sure we wisely plan our days to include time to pray, worship and read our bibles. Set yourself up to succeed.
If you are not accustomed to praying for your husband with him beside you or even listening distance away from you, it may feel awkward at first, but keep at it. It gets easier and it gets better.
Before my husband walks out the door, I ask him if I may pray for him. He says yes and I pray a short - less that one minute prayer over my hard working husband.
It doesn't have to be some elaborate long prayer. Simple, humble and heart felt is best. Coming before God in the early morning; seeking the Holy Spirit to be with your husband as he goes about his day.
My simple prayer is
The author’s purpose in writing this book is to inform and help Christian wives but specifically preacher’s wives to deal with problems in a positive and godly way without lashing out in a worldly manner. One example that we learn from the book is how to deal with adjusting to a move. As a preachers wife you will learn that a preaching job i...
We have always been a very close family. I never really found the need to find an outside support system. I always had my husband with in a phone calls reach. I never really made friends with the other navy wives in my husband’s unit, It wasn’t that I didn’t want to I just would rather spend the time with my family. I never needed o...
My father and mother would always instruct me how to pray by reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Every morning we would go in my parents’ bedroom, get on our knees and begin to pray. This devotional time was spent every morning as soon as we got out of bed. In fact, if we were asleep we were awakening to begin our daily devotion. I remember, my father would begin the prayer and each of us had to lead a portion of the ongoing prayer. My parents always instilled in me that prayer was the key to anything that I wanted to accomplish in life. However, after I prayed, I needed to believe that the work was already accomplished. Growing up in my environment, I could not understand as a child why they would wake me out of the bed in order for to come and pray. Today, I can honestly say I appreciate my parents for showing me the value of prayer. I can relate to the topic of the use of prayer because of a situation which transpired in my life approximately fifteen years ago. I have experienced the miraculous power and the value of prayer. My father was the manager and lead singer of a gospel group. The group would rehearse every Tuesday night with the singers and the musicians which consisted of approx ten members. On this particular Tuesday night after rehearsal, he complained of a slight headache. He didn’t think much more about the headache because he thought he just needed some rest after a long day at
E.M. Bounds wrote a wonderful book devoted to prayer entitled Power Through Prayer. This book encourages the preacher to become a true prayer warrior. E.M. Bounds has written many books on prayer, encouraging Christians to devote their life to prayer. Since the writer is coming from a preacher background himself, one can clearly see the passion he has for prayer in his life. Fellow preachers will hopefully be encouraged by this and want to devote their life to prayer, so that they will better their preaching. Bounds exemplifies through his work that preaching has no power without prayer. He also sets forth the idea that prayer is the life-giving force behind our work for God. In reading this book, it inspires one to pray more and be able to be more effective in their ministry.
The cornerstone of any relationship with someone is the ideal of grace and mercy. When grace is absent, dealing with people becomes difficult we develop issues with trust. Grace involves hoping that God is listening and will answer all prayers in ways according to His will. Digging into the cross of hope and prayer, this paper discusses the theological definition, biblical foundation, and practical application in order to identify how the two connect. These principles have helped me learn what it means to be a Christian.
Moreover, while there is a spiritual nourishing from the Spirit of Christ upon communion with the believer during the observance of the Lord's table, it is not directly tied to the elements themselves but to the one whom they represent. Consider Calvin: Christ can exert his energy wherever he pleases, in earth and heaven, can manifest his presence by the exercise of
Although I always understood that God is in charge of my life and that He provides all my needs, I also had my husband to depend on. My husband and I attended church regularly, prayed together, and participated in many other Christian practices
You can go to Him any time, day, noon and night and in fact anytime you like, can be short and it can be all night long. Prayer is a blessing and it is a weapon against the evil one, rebuke the evil one in Jesus name and also seal your prayers in His name as you cannot speak to the Father without going through His Son first. You can try but your prayers will hit the ceiling. The name of Jesus is what makes all the difference to your prayers and your relationship with the Father in Heaven.
If I shall die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.” Every night I would say that prayer with my mother, and together we would list each name in our family and extended family. My first experience with prayer was done with another person. Bonhoeffer introduced the importance of group by disclosing that praying together is the “most normal thing in the common Christian life” (62). Whenever I had a discouraging day or a hurtful event, my mom would pray with me.
Losing spiritual connection can make individuals weak where they can get stressed, feel isolated and not belong in their
I’d like to state the most obvious observation that I’ve made about spiritual formation; that is that I will always need to be seeking for ways to nurture my personal spirituality throughout my life. I know that to most people this may sound like a “duh” statement, but for me it has truly become a reality and one that I must admit I have been struggling to embrace. I was brought up in a church that, like most traditional churches, stayed happy living in the “comfort zone” of their Christianity. They took everything that the Bible said at face value without digging in to find out why they believed what they believed. I had never been challenged to look deeper into the text. In the past few years I have felt the need to tunnel out of this cave of what I feel is best labeled “Christian ignorance”. In the process though, I have had to come to terms with letting go of the things that brought me comfort and provided me with what I thought it took to have a close relationship with God. Some of those things were tangible. Most were not. The things that were the least tangible actually ended up being the hardest to let go of.
Prayer is important because it allows us to have an intimate conversation with the Lord, as well as a relationship. It helps build our relationship with Him and makes it only even more powerful each time. Also, by praying, we are allowing and putting all of our faith into God's hands and letting him take the wheel and be in control of our lives and guiding us into making smart choices and decisions.
We need to look at prayer with deeper thoughts. Prayer isn’t just closing your eyes, folding your hands and speaking. Prayer is a much more meaningful part of religion. We all need to pray, God himself demands us to pray. Prayer is defined as an act of God, a god or another object of worship, such as in devotion, confession, praise, or thanksgiving. When most people pray, they just say the same prayer, like the Lord’s prayer for example. Saying the same prayer isn’t really such a bad thing, its more about the meaning and the time that you spend praying. Prayer shouldn’t just be looked at as a routine or habit, but as more of a love poem to express ones self to God. Questions such as: why do we need to pray? What is this prayer?, and What does God command us to pray for? Are what we should be asking ourselves before we come to God in prayer.
Every person is on a journey of spiritual formation (Mulholland, 1993). What 's frightening is how this process can happen with or without our intention. Taking this a level deeper, every human is formed with an innate desire to worship (Warren, 2002). Putting this all in perspective; whether a person intends to or not, they are worshipping someone or something, and in so doing are being formed into the likeness of this person or thing. Knowing this, it is easy to see the importance of spiritual formation on the psychological health of a person. For example: if someone is being formed into the likeness of a demanding spouse, they will quite possibly grow into someone defined by bitterness or feelings of insufficiency. Therefore, it is vital
