The rapid development of Information Technology over the years has led to a great revolution across many sectors, including education. The concept of E-learning has become the preferred learning model in social studies across most institutions of higher learning. However, education in most primary schools has not advanced to the concept of e-learning as it has in higher level institutions such as high schools, colleges, and universities. Online education is offered more in higher education and adult education since it is normally accompanied with highly complex and enormous amounts of information (Sun et al, 2008). Thus, the reason why online learning is not common among primary school students is that they are not deemed to have acquired the meta-cognitive skills and complex learning strategies that are required to search and identify the needed information. I find it relevant to my career because I have been an elementary school teacher for almost a decade now. My 8 years of experience teaching children at the elementary level have convinced me that the primary school learning requires a revolution just like that of higher institutions of learning. The offline learning that has been used in primary schools for so long tends to make the learning system so rigid such that it becomes almost impossible to incorporate new ways and methods of learning. It causes the method of learning to remain constant in an environment that is very dynamic. Even the teachers are forced to use a repetitive and monotonous mode of teaching.
