Positive and Negative Emotions
What a great book the Bible is! Even though it’s not a medical book, it still explains to its readers the effects that the positive and the negative emotions can have on people’s mental and physical health. (Proverbs 17:22 and 24:10) state, “A heart that is joyful does well as a curer but a spirit that is stricken makes the bones dry,” and, “Have you shown yourself discouraged in the day of distress? Your power will be scanty.”
Negative feelings such as anger, hatred, low self-esteem, worthlessness, discouragement, and so forth, suck dry the blood and the energy of those negative teenagers. Those negative feelings don’t only affect them emotionally but spiritually as well. They feel worthless, and they lose all interest in praying and trying to build a relationship with God. They are filled with doubts thinking that they are not the kind of person that God would love or care for. However, the Bible specifically tells us that God takes great interest in those who want to serve him. My advice to those teenagers and adults who feel this way is: when you feel lonely, worthless, or any other negative feelings that are troubling you, the best and the wise thing to do is to look to Almighty God. If you are a teenager or an adult who is struggling with inadequacy feelings, I urge you right this minute to say: “Jesus Christ, I invite you in my life. Please help me.” Start reading your Bible. If you don’t have one, make an effort to buy one, and find one online.
