Popularity seems to be cool, but it comes with a price. It takes up a lot of time and energy. Popularity makes it hard to be yourself and show your true colors. If you only worry about what people think about you can not focus on yourself. In your mind, you will always have to say the right things, perform perfectly, look perfect, and act perfectly. That a lot to handle because you don’t stop trying to please and impress people.In the movie, Can't buy me love, Cindy Mancini goes through the same thing. She tries to impress and fit in but she learns that it is a job and popularity is not perfect. There are a few advantages to being popular.
Advantages may include being well liked and respected. Having another look up to an idol because you're the center of attention. Being able to throw a party and attend parties because of who you are. Never being made fun of or being bullied because no has the audacity to make a fool out of you. This is hard to do because there is new fad coming in constantly. They change soon as you learn them. Other disadvantages are the quality of your friend's declines as the more friends you start to gain, have a tendency to become vain or shallow and trying to find time alone time. If the quality of your friend is not great that could mean you don't actually have true friends. They could just be there to gain some of your popularity. Not having a friend can be lonely, it also can make it hard for you to open up to others. Having true friends can keep you in check, they can show you who you really are as a person, and you can be yourself around them without others judging you.
