No matter if it’s broad or abroad, humans are facing challenges that require serious attention. We see those problems being covered in the newspaper article very often. Whether it is human cruelty, sexual violence, poverty, or any other global, economic, and social issue, most of these problems are acknowledged but aren’t taken initiative towards solving them for the majority of people. However, there are still many figures representing leadership, responsibility, and humanity that hold the potential of contributing to the upbringing of global peace; with Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, being one of them. Pope Francis is capable of leading people to the establish peace in this world because, he is essentially the uniting …show more content…
Pope Francis is able to see the public’s struggle and he acts upon it, striving to be a guiding figure. Pope Francis notes,” Don’t expect a recipe from this pope,” saying that the solution to global peace is something that the general society has to find themselves. Pope’s consistency towards a goal that concerns billions of people is what brings a social and economic reform. Recently Pope Francis has visited Latin America including Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay to pursue his goal. As he visits each country, he has addressed about the problems that concern the crowd the most and motivated hundreds of thousands people to stand up for what is right. Besides that he had chance to get close with elderly to embrace them. This shows that Pope is an ordinary person like the rest of us, not just a public figure and people have more trust on a leader who is on the same level as them. Because, leader is a representative of the group and he/she has to offer empathy for its people to be …show more content…
For the reason, they believe that he is trying to expand the Catholic Church. However, there are little to no downside of expanding Catholic Church. It is one of the largest charity organizations in the world; they feed, shelter and educate along with providing a spiritual support for majority of people who are in need. In the U.S itself, Catholic Charities USA, has more than 2,500 local agencies that serve close 10 million people annually according to Georgetown University study research and there are thousands more Catholic Charities around the globe. Another reason is that the large companies who are being harmed from his intentions to better the world; they lose millions if they were to restrict the emission gas or try to go green. Because, Popes one of the main goal is to reduce global warming. Pope Francis is a leader like no other; his message can reach any person, where you are rich or poor or from different nationality and make them admit to their sins, even the prisoners who have committed a serious crime. He also, focused on his goal to make a peaceful world and he never backs down from
Jesus washed the feet of 12 people to show that we should be doing the kind and most respectful things towards each other even if they have been untrustworthy and against your beliefs, you should still be there if they need someone, and this is what Pope Francis is doing. Pope Francis is upholding the ritual of Jesus in hoping the outcome will be that someday, all people of all races and nationalities will stand alongside each other in all types of circumstances for the greater good and we, as humans, become better of for
I am about to talk about the life of Pope John Paul II, and how he was the first non-Italian pope in over four hundred years. He has been declared a Saint some people say. He was also one of the vocal advocates for human rights. He spoke for the people he loved and the God he loved.
I would love to learn more about Pope Francis’s views on everything. He demonstrates what it is like to be a virtuous person and as Aristotle has said “The virtuous life is the best life.” By being as virtuous as Pope Francis, I believe that is what makes us, as humans, the most happiest.
Pope John Paul II wants all to be people of life and to mediate upon and proclaim the Gospel of life. With this a new civilization of truth and love will flourish.
This class has taught me a lot about the Franciscan Values. The core Franciscan values are community, compassion, peacemaking, and reverence for creation. Other values of Francis were the humility of God, mystery of God as generous love, and the integration of God, humanity, and cosmos (The Life & Spirit of Francis). St. Francis believed that God was the meaning behind his entire life. He was consistently working with his brothers and was hospitable, courteous and cooperative with all of those he came into contact with (Galli). The value of compassion means that one must put others ahead of themselves by actively listening, perceiving their needs, serving humbly, or working for the dignity of every person (Silver Lake College of the Holy Family). The value of peacemaking is seen as a form of reconciliation or justice. St. Francis tried to bring peace to the world by having a good relationship with all of those that he came into contact with. The value of reverence for creation is shown powerfully through St. Francis’s love for nature and creation. He realized that all creation was a reflection of God and that it was the true beauty of the world. Francis viewed God as his ‘Father’ and Jesus as a ‘Brother’. He als...
She examines 6 popes between 1470-1530 who she claims lead in a way similar to politicians. They lost touch with the common people both emotionally and intellectually. A little known cleric led the revolution challenging papacy that culminated in the reformation of the church. In that context, Barbara outlines that the popes were venal, immoral, and their power politics was calamitous. The faithful were distressed by their leadership, which ignored all the protests and the signs that a revolt was coming. In the end, the papal constituency lost almost half of its followers to Protestants. Barbara says that these people were driven by the greed and the urge to create a family empire that would outlive them. This chapter sums up the essence of folly in these major failures, lack of a fixed policy, over extravagance, and the illusion that their rule was
Pope then goes on to describe the shortcomings of man and how they are currently failing. This is important to understand because they are not fulfilling their role in the cosmos. He discusses the pride of man and how as he attempts to get closer to God he is actually getting farther and farther away. He cannot begin to judge what is perfect and good. That is the role of God and when humans try to imitate Him they create a foundation of failure and go against the cosmos (Pope, Sec...
Although Pope Francis will be imperative in the future, someone who has already paved the way and inspired change in history is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. realized the “power and privilege [African Americans had] access to and [could] exercise, as well as situations in which we have less power and privilege.” (Kirk and Ozakawa-Ray, Page 8). Dr. King took the “far-fetched” idea of racial equality and made it a reality through a means of peaceful protest that inspired the American Government to stop treating minorities like second-class citizens. Dr. King is a great example of one man with one dream for equality, which used that vision to inspire change and bring awareness to something that was at that time broadly
Pope Francis has been widely recognized as taking a radical new approach as the leader of the catholic Church. He has been seen as a people’s Pope, not conforming to the typical template of a traditional Pope.
Francis was famous for his love of all creation. He called for simplicity of life, poverty, and humility before God. He worked to care for the poor. Thousands were drawn to his sincerity, piety, and joy. In all his actions, Francis sought to follow fully and literally the way of life demonstrated by Christ in the Gospels. He died in 1226, at the age of 44.
Saint Francis of Assisi had a simple message to all in his time and in ours; live a life of humble simplicity in service to others to the glory of God. He came from a background of wealth and privilege yet put it behind him for the privilege of serving God and all His creation. To Francis everything sang out in praise to God; every person, plant, and bird to which he compelled us to be good stewards of the earth and its resources. He conveyed the truth of God’s love for us and all of creation and led by his example of service.
The Pope addresses the science of climate change. What does the scientific consensus tell us about climate change, its causes and consequences?
Throughout his entire life, Francis was known for his generosity. He gave lavishly to his friends, often throwing feasts for them and otherwise celebrating abundantly. Later, when he felt inclined to do more help others, he did not hesitate to sell all that he owned in order to finance the rebuilding of the church known as San Damiano. One also cannot overlook the fact that he gave not only his belongings, but devoted his whole life to giving to others and to God. Saint Francis was truly an extraordinarily giving man, who denied himself, taking up his cross to follow Jesus.
... the world. The pope is the final arbiter of both administrative and doctrinal issues, the papacy may not rule nations or appoint kings anymore, but with so many followers it still has great influence on world affairs.
Pope John Paul recognized that everyone was unified. He witnessed first hand what discrimination did to Jewish people in the
