Politics-Centrist
I was pleased to find out that I was a centrist. It’s true that I favor government intervention in some cases, but in other cases, people should be able to govern themselves. Here in the land of freedom, I think it would be impossible for the government to control everyone and every activity. For example the FCC coming up with a plan to crack down on pornography distributed through cable or the “Howard Stern” show which will soon be going to satellite radio. People are paying for theses services. If the conservatives feel that FCC should crack down on what people pay to see, their wrong. Another good example. Conservatives disagree with abortion or adoption no matter what the circumstances “supposedly”, but I guarantee you that if one of their daughters were forced to have non-consensual sex, they would send her away for an abortion or give the baby to responsible couples who can’t have children. There’s absolutely no way a conservative would approve of their 15-17 year old daughter taking of a baby that was not wanted. Besides, the baby will be a mess. Once that kid grows up to find out how he or she was conceived, they won’t know what to think.
I do, however, think that the government should regulate money being spent on welfare.
People who are on welfare should be forced to keep a log of what they spend their money on. That way these women who go out and spend $200 dollars to get their done instead of using the money to take care of the kids they had (probably out of wedlock or not planned), would be punished with a jail sentence. The children could then possibly be adopted. While the woman is in jail, the government could find all of the men that fathered those kids and make them work for the government or get a decent job in order to support the children. If and only if the father wasn’t around (dead from violence or aids), the kids could be adopted by a better family who can show them the right way to success so that they can grow up to become better parents. This might sound bogus, but I think the government should crack down on STD infected people. Today, once a person is tested positive, their name goes into a database with other infected patients.
The Jeffersonian-Republicans (also known as the Democratic-Republicans) were opposed to the Federalists from before 1801-1817. Leaders Thomas Jefferson and James Madison created the party in order to oppose the economic and foreign policies of Alexander Hamilton and the Federalist Party. The Democratic-Republicans supported the French, whereas the Federalists supported the British. Each party had its set of views. The Federalists supported a loose interpretation of the Constitution, a strong central government, high tariffs, a navy, military spending, a national debt, and a national bank (all ideas of the Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton). The Democratic-Republicans opposed all of the said ideas and fought for states' rights and the citizens to govern the nation. Originally, each of these parties stuck to their own views and ideas, but eventually would accept eachother's views and use them as their own.
“The Invasion and the Failure.” The Invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs. 1999. 11 April 2000 .
Sometimes fear can come from lies. Lies about what is happening or going to happen. Lies can make you believe something that is not true, and that can be scary. When we first meet Ender Wiggin, he is only six years old. He is being monitored for a special program that trains children for the eventual war against the buggers, an alien race that almost wiped out the humans. He soon gets his monitor taken out which means he should be washed out, or didn’t pass through the program. The nurse that is helping take out the monitor tells Ender that is won’t hurt a bit. Ender knows she is lying. “…he could count on that statement as an accurate representation of the...
The story of the failed invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs , located on the southern coast of Cuba about 97 miles southeast of Havana, was one of mismanagement, poor judgment , and stupidity ( " Bay Pigs " 378). The blame for the failed invasion falls directly on the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) and a young man by the name of President John F. Kennedy. The whole purpose of the invasion was a communist assault Cuba and Fidel Castro ended . Ironically , thirty nine years after the Bay of Pigs , Fidel Castro remains in power . First, we need to analyze why the invasion happened and then why it did not work .
As I mentioned earlier, I am indecisive to being Republican or Democrat, because there are some things that I support and some things I do not support on both sides. These things include abortion rights, death penalty, gun control, education, and welfare. For rights on abortion, the Democratic Party favors it while the Republican Party opposes it. I favor the Democrats Party on abortion rights. According to the article, “Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs”, “A woman has the right to decide what happens with her body… The decision to have an abortion is a personal choice of a woman regarding her own body and the government must protect this right”. In my opinion certain situations such as rape could cause a woman to become pregnant and to have an abortion, and I believe that it is the women’s decision to either keep the baby or not. As for the death penalty, the Democratic Party opposes ...
Reverend Josiah Strong's Our Country: Its Possible Future and Its Present Crisis inspired missionaries to travel to foreign nations.
In today’s America, there are many people who would either be disgusted at the very mention of Welfare or be highly grateful for its existence. I believe that in order for welfare to be more effective in America, there must be reform. From the time of its inceptions in 1935, welfare has lent a helping hand to many in crisis (Constitution Rights Foundation). However, at present many programs within the system are being abused and the people who are in real need are being cheated out of assistance. The year after the creation of welfare unemployment was just about twenty percent (Unemployment Statistics). The need for basic resources to survive was unparallel. Today, many people face the same needs as many did during the 30s. Some issues with
This is when said person raises money and takes off time to go over to help the poorer countries like Africa. They can be going over there to help build houses, plant gardens, and often times just to spread their joy with the children and families that live there. A mission trip is an amazing opportunity not a responsibility to go out of the comfort of you perfect house and step into the dirt floors of other countries. Open up your hearts to help other people, not because of the responsibility that has been bestowed upon you, because you don’t have a responsibility, but do it because you have been blessed with an opportunity to help other
The Bay of Pigs project came to life when President Eisenhower approved an initial budget of $4,400,000; political action, $950,000; propaganda, $1,700,000; paramilitary, $1,500,000; intelligence collection, $250,000. (“BAY OF PIGS: THE PLAN”) The invasion, a year later, would cost over $46 million. (“BAY OF PIGS: THE PLAN”) The Bay of Pigs affair was an unsuccessful invasion of Cuba on April 17, 1961, at Playa Girón (the Bay of Pigs) by about two thousand Cubans who had gone into exile after the 1959 revolution. (“BAY OF PIGS: THE PLAN”) Encouraged by members of the CIA who trained them, the invaders believed they would have air and naval support from the United States and that the invasion would cause the people of Cuba to rise up and overthrow. (“BAY OF PIGS: THE PLAN”) The landing began shortly before midnight on Sunday, April 16, after a team of frogmen went ashore and set up landing lights to guide the operation. (“THE CUBAN MISSLE CRISIS”) The failure of the Bay of Pigs Invasion was due to a lack of planned strategy, miscommunication, and mismanagement of planning.
In the bible we see that one of the first well-known missionaries was the Apostle Paul. Even though we see that Paul had background work in taking care of or killing those who did not share the same mind set as he did, he did however experience a life changing moment where he was able see the importance of acceptance and bringing Christianity into ones own identity. The work of the Apostle Paul was given by God to serve all people and share with them God’s grace and message through Jesus Christ. 3 This is the reason that I Paul am a prisoner for[a] Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles— 2 for surely you have already heard of the commission of God’s grace that was given me for you,.” Paul traveled to many places and was known for sharing the...
The Bay of Pigs invasion was both a political and military failure planned over two presidential terms. It was based on fear of the Cold War’s spread of communism and a power play by both United States and Russia. The Bay of Pigs invasion was a cruel demonstration of American imperialism using innocent Cuban exiles whom desperately wanted their country back. It cost the United States over 53 million dollars and the lives of Americans and exiled Cuban-American citizens in the invasion Brigade. An insightful quote from President Kennedy was: “How could I have been so stupid…?” (7,Wyden) The Bay of Pigs showed the world that the U.S. would lie about covert operations and invade sovereign nations for U.S benefits. Presently the U.S continues to interfere in other international sovereign states.
The argument, if broken down, includes a lot of points that should be explained. Firstly donating money holds true for only those who would save someone from drowning in a shallow pond and think that it is morally right. For the ones that do think so, saving someone from drowning is almost same as donating money and helping faraway people in need in many ways. Firstly, there is betterment being brought from our actions out of morality. Also, in both cases there is slight inconvenience but it is insignificant as compared to the outcome that is being brought. The other very important thing that needs to be highlighted in the argument is that we need to help other by incurring no significant cost to us. The argument in no sense propagates that we should give up our necessities and comforts to help those in need because in the end the objective is to bring greater good of all. The cost here being talked about is the cost over wasteful consumption such as expensive clothing, cars etc. that is morally useless and can be diverted towards a much better way.

The Chinese garment workforce has not been spared in the recent times as they are faced with multiple poor conditions in the textile industry. Garment industry in China constitutes of many internal migrates from the rural parts who face extreme working conditions such as low wage income, extended working hours, uncoordinated labor unions. In addition, the Chinese workforce in the garment industries is threatened by occupational ailments especially from the fabric treatment technique such as sandblasting that may lead to a condition referred to as silicosis.
The authors of this report but a lot of information for current and new missionaries but what one can take out this information is that all culture are different and when missionaries go out and encounter they need to be sure that they hold true to what the bible says but also have respect for the culture so they can also honor the culture they are meeting.
