These days more and more animals and plants are becoming extinct. That means they must be protected in order to maintain the number of animals or plants, which are threatened by extinction. The question is how can we protect them? Right now polar bears and other animals are struggling more than ever to survive. There are a few things we can do to help. Stopping pollution, stopping wild animal hunting, and stopping deforestation are the main factors in keeping them alive.
To begin with, pollution is a huge threat to every single animal or plant. Pollution is the reason for global warming, which causes the destruction of many animals' habitat. For example, the icy parts in the north and south are melting very slowly, which puts penguins and polar bears in danger. Polar bears are the world's largest land predator. They can go for long periods, even months, without eating, but need to build up fat to live through lean times. The polar bear does this mostly by eating seals they catch on the ice. Without the ice they can't get to their prey. They also use the ice as many forms of travel and carrying of young. If us humans do not take a stand a stop pollution, then all the ice will melt and polar bears will go extinct. In an online article, Michelle Radcliff says “Understanding

If we want to save animals from extinction, we first have to reduce the construction, which will save a lot of forests and therefore an animal’s habitat. Paulina Lam says that “The planet’s forests are under threat. Some thirty six football fields of forests are hacked, burned, and destroyed every minute. With each forest clearing, we lose about 135 species of animals, plants, and insects a day” (Lam). The easiest solution to deforestation is to plant more trees. This does not fully fix the issue of taking away the animals homes, but it does help them to be able to find a new
The grizzly bear trophy hunt is an issue regarding the citizens of Canada who immorally hunt and kill grizzly bears for pride, thrill, and trophy. Many people question whether this is morally acceptable as hunters kill without a conscience. Grizzly bears are vital to Canada’s environment as they are essential to maintaining a healthy ecosystem. As keystone species, they regulate prey, disperse seeds of plants, and aerate soil to maintaining forest health. Due to the vulnerability and over-hunting of grizzly bears, Pacific Wild and many other non-profit organizations, are working to protect wildlife in British Columbia, especially the grizzly bear habitat.
Many animals depend on different environments such as lakes, oceans or the forest in order to survive. However due to human intervention such as pollution of the ocean, or heavy deforestation, many animals are at the risk of extinction. One such example is known as the Gundlach Hawk which due to deforestation is currently on the endangered species list. Due to it being on the list, conservation attempts are being made in order to keep the animal alive and save it from extinction.
Polar bears adaptation is thick fur (thicker than any other bears’), they have a thick layer of blubber beneath their fur that provides insulation, and their long neck and narrow skull aids the animal in the water while warming the air that they breath. Also, their front feet are large, flat, and oar like, making them excellent swimmers. They feed primarily on the fat of ice-dependent seals. They also eat walrus, beluga, fish, birds, and many other small animals. Two percent of their hunts for seals are actually successful. Another interesting fact is
* Polar bears are members of the bear family Ursidae. They are a carnivorous bear which can be found throughout the Arctic region where they rely on sea ice to sustain their hunting activities. Canada hosts approximately 60% of the polar bear population. Other areas inhabited by polar bears include Alas...
.... Some animals face endangerment because of human’s hunting activities and because of the climate changes. Due to the endangered rare species, people solve this problem by bringing these animals back to their natural habitat.
Extinction is no longer just a natural process. It is an enemy, slowly changing our world into a barren wasteland where life is as rare as a flower in the Arctic Circle's winter. The wolf, the tiger, the caribou, the elephant, the bison, the cheetah, the sequoia cactus, the redwood tree – all of these and so many more things are on the verge of disappearing from our planet forever. Extinction is the most pressing environmental issue of our time, because if it continues the way it is going without anything being done to counteract its causes and consequences, there will soon be no environment left for there to be debates about.
They mainly feast on Ice Seals which have a large amount of blubber. They need a high fat content and many calories to maintain their health, and can eat 100lbs of blubber in just one sitting (PolarBearsInternational, n.d.). If they do not get a proper nutrition they can drown, starve, or freeze to death. With the ice in the Arctic retreating, it’s a lot harder for Polar bears to hunt. Usually they find breathing holes carved out by a seal using their strong sense of smell. Then they wait patiently until the seal surfaces, which could happen in a few hours to days (PolarBearsInternational, n.d.). For Polar bears, this is one of the most effective ways of hunting, other than stalking seals basking on the ice. With the ice melting, there are less and less breathing holes for the Polar bears to easily catch their prey. Catching a seal is not an easy task, and it’s even harder for a malnourished Polar Bear (PolarBearsInternational,
The first bear of that I will inform you on is the Polar Bear also known as the Ursus Maritimus. The polar bear doesn’t have a very large diet, they mostly eat ringed or bearded seals because they need large amounts of fat to survive. The average length of a Polar Bear from head to foot is from six to nine feet. On average a Polar Bear weighs from 800 pounds to 1300 pounds. Polar Bears have been classified as endangered as of May of 2008. Polar Bears may not seem very dangerous but they can be. “In the past 20 years six people were killed by polar
There have been negative biosphere impacts especially in the Arctic because “greenhouse gas concentrations are driving ocean systems towards conditions not seen for millions of years (Shah 5). Conditions such as sea levels are rising which cause polar caps to melt much faster. These polar caps are important to our artic species the thought of having “ice-free summers in the Artic imply loss of an entire biome” (Shah 2). For example, animals like polar bears that have adapted life on top of ice are in danger of extinction. The melting of ice caps and glaciers are causing polar bears to lose their homes. The extinction of one species can spell trouble for other life in the ecosystem. However, polar bears are not the only species in danger.
Polar Bears live in the Arctic. In the winter, the temperatures range from -39°F to 30°F and in the summer, it ranges from 14-50°F. The arctic gets about 15-25 cm of precipitation throughout the entire year. A Polar Bear's niche is a predator, meaning they hunt for food. In a food web, there are listed as a tertiary consumer, which is the highest level on the food web. Polar Bears are a keystone species because the Arctic habitat is currently endangered. Polar Bears mostly eat animals such as beluga whales, walruses, and they rarely eat any type of vegetation.
Bears are vicious right? It’s their natural instinct to hunt and be one of the main predators on the food chain, and it doesn’t mean that we can treat them any type of way. Obviously, we are humans, and humans need special “items” such as resources from animals. Sadly in this case, the prime animal are bears. In multiple places around the world, such as South Korea, China, North Korea, ect...bears are abused for their resources that are useful to us humans.
Any species which fall into the categories vulnerable, endangered, or critically endangered are considered to be at risk of extinction. Robert Redford said “I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security defense of our resource’s because it’s just as important as defense abroad otherwise what is there to defend?” People should all take the environment more seriously and protect the future for those to come. It’s our responsibility to ensure that the children to come may enjoy all of earth’s beauty, and not through old issues of National Geographic’s.
Do you know how much bear weighs? Enough to break the ice and eat the human race. Bears are not bais the thousand pound animal will eat childeren and the elderly all the same. There is nothing you can do to stop it, and its not just bears on land its all bears yes even panda bears and sea bears also known as polar bears. They will eat everyone faces thus we should all be afriad of bears yes, even bear cubs.
The Arctic climate is covered with snow and ice. The temperatures are very cold. The Polar Bear’s coat has two layers of fur and a layer of blubber (thick fat) underneath. Polar Bears use their big front paws to paddle through the water and their oil coated fur helps keep them dry when they get out of the water. A Polar Bear spends months wandering across the frozen surface of the Arctic, looking for food. They eat walruses, birds, fish and seals. Sometimes a Polar Bear has to spend a lot of time in the water searching for food or swimming from place to place to find something to eat.
The polar bear rarely eats plants. That is why it is considered a carnivore, or meat-eater. The ringed seal is the polar bear's primary prey. A polar bear hunts a seal by waiting quietly for it to emerge from an opening a seal makes in the ice allowing them to breathe or climb out of the water to rest. Polar bears eat only the seal's skin and blubber of the seal. The remaining meat provides a food source for other animals in the Arctic.
