The Summer Sleepover By Emily Walsh Five kids were having a sleepover in Summer break. It was the best time because the air is warm and it is the perfect time to go swimming. There were five kids. Summer is tall and has long blonde hair. Autumn has dark brown hair and is short. April is really tall, and she is tan and has black hair. June is medium height and has blonde hair but it is always in a pony tail. May is medium height has brown hair, but also just dyed it red. They were having a sleepover at Autumn’s house, and she lives in the woods. They decided to play hide and seek in the yard and woods. While Autumn was counting Summer decided to hide in the woods. last for sure. Summer heard Autumn say “Ready or not here I come!” Summer wasn't worried until she realized she didn't know which way it was toward Autumn’s house.
She didn't know what to do so she just started yelling and hoping someone would hear. Meanwhile, Autumn had found April, May, and June, but was still looking for Summer. “Did you hear that?” April said “Hear what,” Autumn, June, and May all said at once. “It sounds like someone yelling,” April said. The girls all listened and at once started to hear the voice yelling for help. “It sounds like Summer and I think it's coming from the woods!” April said worryingly. They realized Summer was lost so they decided April and May should go while Autumn and June stayed in case they couldn't find her. So April and May went into the woods while Autumn and June waited anxiously. “Summer,” May and April yelled trying to figure out where she was. “Guys I'm over here,” Summer yelled, breaking sticks so they could hear. The girls heard Summer yelling and went towards the voice, then a minute later found her. Once they made sure Summer was ok they yelled to Autumn and June so they could find there way back. “April, May,” Autumn and June yelled, “We're over
here.” Autumn and June heard them yell back and followed the voice then they saw them through the trees. “You're ok,” yelled June. “We were so worried,” said April. Once the girls reunited and calmed down they decided to go swimming. After that they watched movies and had the best sleepover ever!
If the author's father didn’t give her the chance to hunt, and the opportunity to take care of herself and not be afraid, her predicaments would end with probable unfortunate circumstances just like mine. Thankfully her father’s knowledge and words of
Although summer and the autumn are right next to each other, the two seasons are completely different. Ray Bradbury uses the seasons, autumn and summer, to characterize different people in Something Wicked This Way Comes. Bradbury uses the literal description of summer and autumn and translates it onto the characters in his novel. “First of all, it was October, a rare month for boys. Not that all months aren’t rare. But there be bad and good, as the pirates say. Take September, a bad month: school begins. Consider August, a good month: school hasn’t begun yet,” (Bradbury, 1) September, an autumn month, is considered bad. Bradbury uses this to describe those in the carnival, those who have a sort of wickedness to them. August, a summer month, is a good month for the boys which is why Bradbury uses summer to describe the good in a person. However, Bradbury also mixes the seasons together to represent those who are not only warm, but they have a sort of wickedness to them. Summer versus autumn is used to demonstrate the different characteristics of people within the novel.
In the poem Reunion by Carolyn Forché, she does an excellent job of including line breaks to make a meaningful impact. I noticed that the poet’s use of “half-commas” as referenced in the book helps show the reader where there’s an emphasis. For example, in the poem stanza, “later, the tongues swishing in my dress, some yours, some left by other men.” The punctuation here aids in presenting the words in an exciting way as “some left by other men” was not what I expected after the pause.

Just as Mr. Adams, Mr. Summers name was a significant to the plot, representing death cast amongst the people. “Summer,” which normally brings thoughts of livelihood and joyous times, just as in the setting of the story, ironically was the name of the person that the citizens chose their destiny’s from. Mr. Summers drew the heavily blackened death mark upon one slip of paper, and stood before the people as they awaited their names to be called. As he called their names off alphabetically, curiosity raised as the anticipation to know who the lucky lottery winner wa...
The journey to America was long and uncomfortable for the passengers of the Mayflower. However, they finally reached the land that would become their new home only a few months after leaving England. Since it was winter when the Pilgrims dropped anchor in Plymouth, Massachusetts, many of the passengers decided to stay aboard the ship until spring. Winter proved to be very challenging for the Pilgrims. Many of them contracted illnesses and did not survive. In fact, only about half of the people who agreed to take the journey survived the first winter in Plymouth (Thanksgiving).
At the start of the afternoon, everybody just wished they were at the beach. By the end, all we could think about was how much fun we had playing board games. After Mom won for the hundredth time, we decided it was time for dinner. The smell of hotdogs and hamburgers floated throughout the house. Laughing, talking, more laughing, and even more talking echoed around us.

Allie scanned the area, though she barely moved her head. "Whatever it is, it sounds a lot closer than I like."
Finally after three or four days the sky cleared up and she could see the beautiful blue sky with the sun. She so badly wanted to go outside, and the kids were going crazy being cooped up in the house for that long. Even when the sky cleared she still couldn’t take the kids out because of all the ash. Thankfully her whole spring wasn’t ruined; even though they had a little set back with all the

Maria ran and hid in the forest while the soldiers shot at the others. In the morning, she found her sister, who told her of their father’s death. Soon enough, winter arrived.

...ave of course changed in the same alignment as the story works out. Therefore it is spring when the story ends. Spring is a symbol of happiness, a new beginning and brighter times ahead. Here, the season is also equivalent to how the story has evolved, from unhappy times to a much happier and more positive atmosphere.
