Plagiarism is something students are constantly faced with throughout their academic career. They are tempted with the obvious pressures that come with being a student and sometimes are not strong enough to fight away that urge. Plagiarism is defined as “an act of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author”, (Dictionary.com). When students feel trapped, they turn to easy ways out such as plagiarism. Plagiarism can come in different forms, for instance, letting a friend copy your paper, copying from the internet, and not citing sources properly. The University of New South Wales gives common forms of plagiarism on their website, “self-plagiarism includes re-using parts of, or all of, a body of work that has already been submitted for assessment without proper citation” (UNSW). Self plagiarism is the mistake I made during my Biology lab course. I used an old presentation from a previous class and it was not properly cited resulting it be plagiarized. I had heard other students saying that they had done it and I believed that reusing my assignment was allowed. I had two exams and a paper due that; I thought I was making my life easier. I submitted my presentation to turnitin.com and I had forgotten about it until my instructor emailed me. When I received his email, I instantly regretted recycling my assignment. I knew that I should have not taken a shortcut, but I did it anyway. My instructor was kind enough to allow me to resubmit the whole assignment in my own words. From then on, I was incredibly embarrassed by my actions and wished I could take back what I did. I was extremely disappointed in myself and I felt like
