Good Evening All, What a Great start back this week with our district literacy study groups for PK-8. I started my day with K and ended with 7th grade. The sessions today were very good and allowed everyone to grow deeper understandings of the curriculum we are implementing. The teachers I worked with today were very positive and excited about the professional growth opportunities. Attached is my tentative calendar for this week. I was holding onto it until after the sessions today because I need to observe members of my study groups presenting lessons this week. Most of the rest of my time will be working on finishing the grant audit materials. Please let me know if there is anything that I can help you with during the week. Also,
I will bring a copy of the curriculum/lesson plans this Thursday during class so you guys can take a look at it.
In this week’s reflection, the required material was a video that gave a brief overview of two of the more common cold bluing products on the market. The products being was the “Birchwood Casey Perma Blue” and “Bownells Formula 44/40”. The video also gave a tutorial on using the products and compared the results.
I am currently enrolled in your History 330 online course and I need clarification on a couple of things. I was just wondering if the book by DuBois and Dumenil is the only required text. Also, I think it would be helpful if all of the reading assignments were listed on the syllabus. For example, you show TWE chapter 1 and 2 for the first week, but do not continue that onto the follow weeks. For example in week two TWE chapter 3 is required reading since there is a homework assignment due. I hope these questions and comments reach you well. Have a nice
This week we started our Kindergarten Literacy program. Kindergartners had a lovely time together learning and sharing during these classes.
This essay will explore the authors meaning of reflection, how various reflective styles can benefit the practitioners within their settings, and how important reflection is within Early Years Practice. According to Appleby (2010, p.10), reflection is a generic term which describes various behaviours involving feelings, and thinking about thoughts and experiences, in order to examine issues and develop, new understandings and insights. Reflection within practice allows the practitioner to develop a sense of awareness around their daily activities, and helps them to evaluate how they could evolve these activities further, if the given opportunity was to arise again. Similarly, keeping a reflective journal
I began my adventure at Tesnatee Gap Elementary school during the latter part of March. I had no idea what to expect at all. Previously, I had absolutely no experience with public school. Before taking my education course I had little knowledge of the way the public-school system worked, and no knowledge at all about the way public schools run special education classes. This was all so completely new to me, and I’m thankful that I had such wonderful teachers and classes to observe, as well as tons of applicable knowledge for me to take away and apply into my own classroom.
This week’s reading has been quite interesting (mainly the “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass). The other reading “But Would That Still Be Me?” by Kwame Anthony Appiah has also been interesting. Both passages have been interesting because I feel like they relate to my life and my education.
In the Critical Care setting where I have most of my experience, I have developed strong Critical thinking and good clinical judgment. These two are essential in this setting, as patients’ lives are in our hands. A nurse with both these skills can recognize symptoms and conditions act accordingly to prevent deterioration. In critical care one develops other great skills as well, to include intuition, strong assessment skills and anticipation. I believe these skills will make the transition to the APRN role easier. The reason is because APRNs rely heavily on strong assessment skills and clinical judgment to make an appropriate and accurate diagnosis. They must possess strong critical thinking and clinical knowledge. In the Critical care setting
The stimulations were really eye opening. I was able to see through the eyes of a child with a learning disability in different areas. I always understood that children who have learning disabilities learned differently, but I didn’t imagine how extreme the difference could be. The problems were hard for me and became frustrating. I now know firsthand how frustrating it can be for students who have learning disabilities in different areas. It’s amazing what extra time or shorter questions can do to help increase understanding. I realize that some things that come naturally to me may be extremely difficult for someone who learns differently. As a new teacher, I will make sure to teach children strategies and develop assignments that increase student understanding.
This week we had an interesting week. Children learned about the different types of families around the world. We read a book called All Families are Special by Norma Simon. We made a chart on the board in order to help us compare families. They were some family that were similar to our and others that were the opposite.
I want to share the experience that I got from reading to the little kids in Washington school. This had been my first time doing community service so I was a little nervous, I didn't think that the kids where going to like me. But when I go to the school and saw the lovable little kids I felt much better. When we got into little groups and started reading they started hugging me and reading along. They made me feel good and I was ready to come back next Thursday. This was the greatest experience that I had ever had, I felt like a teacher and it fells great to have those little kids liking you.
Now I would like to take the time to thank everyone who has helped me get this far. First of all, thank you to all the teachers. None of us would be here without you always pushing our academic abilities to the fullest. Jessica Parker a.k.a. my partner in crime as Mr. Tri would refer to us. You made everyday coming to school worthwhile. Hillary Laswell, who would leave third period to go steal flowers from horticulture and give them to Mrs. Granillo with me. My brother Jeramie who always said, "If anyone is mean to you, I'll take care of it." My Mom, thank you for always believing in me and putting up with me when I was a real jerk.
On Monday,October 14, 2013 at 7:00 P.M., I attended the Bradford Area School District school board meeting at Floyd C. Fretz Middle School in the large group instruction room. This meeting was important for the teachers, students, and the schools in the district. It provided information that correlated to the material in class and a perspective on what situations as a future teacher I may experience.
Today is the second session that I had counselor with this particle client. He came in to see me for the same problem that he had before. But except this time client had be doing a little than before. Before I started with the interview I had use the five stages and dimension of the interviews a client. I want to have an empathic relationship with my client, and gathering story and find the strength of my client is part of getting to know my client. This time I had set a realistic goal that my client can work toward without feeling that he is not in control of making the decision. The next is stage restoring finding what is not working now and trying to find an alternative that will work then take the action of letting the client go or
In our class of 7-15, we tried of being drunk at different levels of alcohol that was being drank. We approached that by wearing special drunk vision goggles and doing different acts to make a hypothesis of what level the drunkenness was. There was four different acts, one was walking on a straight line and the second one was writing on the chalkboard. The other two was catching a ball and throwing a ball into a basket. After all the activities were done we had to work on a worksheet of answering how we did and what would you guess would be the level. So our class had a lot of fun testing out the levels and learning about the levels of drunkenness.
