Did you know studies show that more people are killed by coconuts each year than by pit bulls? You are 60 times more likely to die from a coconut than by a pit bull attack. However, pit bulls are being banned in different counties all over the United States. Pit bulls should not be banned; people should be allowed to have pit bulls as pets because they are not all mean, the media targets them, and the government should not be able to dictate what type of dog people keep as pets.
Not all pit bulls are mean. For example, a pit bull named, Stubby, saved an entire platoon by barking to alert the soldiers of a poisonous gas attack. His action saved many lives. (“Pit Bulls Haven’t Always Had A Bad Rep”). Pit bulls are only mean if they are trained that way. Any dog can be trained to be aggressive, but if pit bull owners care for their dogs the right way they have been known to be very loving and protective family pets.
