Piaget’s second stage is Pre-Operational Stage where he said the age range is from 2 years to 7 years. He described as that at this stage children use proper grammar to express concepts. They also have the use of proper syntax, imagination and intuition. At this stage children are still egocentric. They do not yet understand laws of conservation. The child vocabulary also improves and expand and developed at this stage because it’s at this stage where they are changing from babies to toddlers in their next stage. It’s at this stage where they are decentering because they will stop believing that they are the Centre of the attention, and they may imagine that something or someone else could be the Centre of attention other than them. have the logic which is adequate in regard to this but they may have inadequate in regard to mental operations. This stage is further split into two; the function sub-stage where they will have the capacity to think, understand and remember picture object in their minds even when the object is not with them or in range. The other being intuitive thought sub-stage is when children tend to propose the questions of "why?" and "how come?" this is the stage when children want the knowledge of knowing everything.

He was convinced that a person had to progress from one stage to the next, that this was a natural biological process influenced by the environment and experiences. Biology limits the point in time, but the environment determines the quality of development.

Piaget believes functions of language develops over four stages which are, the sensorimotor stage, the preoperational stage, the concrete operational stage, and the formal operational stage. To briefly explain each of these children develop the sensorimotor stage from ages 0 – 2 years, Piaget sees language at this stage as more physical where children experiment with their mouths and learn to repeat parents sounds. The concrete operational stage begins at about age 6 or 7 when children can work things out in their mind and explain their reasoning.
