In this week’s discussion, I was asked to look up the requirements for a Pharmacy Technician in my state, in which case is South Carolina. In my research, I found that there is a $40 fee to submit the registration application. The approved certification exams required by the State Board of Pharmacy in South Carolina are Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB/PTCE). Pharmacy Technicians are required to have a continuing education (CE). Pharmacy Technicians are required to complete 10 hours CE by American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). The first hours must be lectures, workshops, etc. Those with national certifications are required to complete 20 units of CE every 2 years. Pharmacy Technicians are required to
Cardiovascular agents are used to treat the heart, circulatory, and vascular system. Each Sub-Class has a unique active ingredient that targets the issues that our body cannot fight with alone. Patients who have one or more cardiovascular conditions such as CHF, hypertension and an arrhythmia may be taking multiple medications for each condition. There are multiple subclasses that I will be discussing. Even though they all are used for the cardiovascular system, they do target different areas.
West Florida Hospital located in Pensacola, Florida offered a pleasing Introductory Pharmacy Experience for me. Based on the West Florida Hospital website, they are affiliated with the Hospital Corporation of America known as HCA, which is the nation’s leading provider of healthcare. They provide private rooms for all their patients. This facility is the only one in the area that is an Atrial Fibrillation Certified hospital and first Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI and Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. West Florida is a “for profit” hospital, and an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. The hospital offers many services in obstetrics, emergency care, oncology, orthopedics, cardiology/ cardiovascular surgery, neurology/ neurosurgery, behavioral
2/ Based on the chosen what I made above, I think the top three professions involved wil be Doctor of medicine, nurse practitioner and Physician Assistant. The Physician Assistant can provide health care services under the direction and supervision of a doctor of medicine. Nurse practitioner can work together with doctors as a joint health care team. And the MD is also important because they can make diagnosis, treatment and correction, give an advise, or prescript for any human disease, injury, ailment, deformity, infirmity, physical or mental, pain, real or imaginary or other condition.
Pharmacy technicians typically learn through on-the-job training, or they may complete a postsecondary education program. Most states regulate pharmacy technicians, which is a process that may require passing an exam or completing a formal education or training program. These programs are usually offered by vocational schools or community colleges. Most programs award a certificate after 1 year or less, although some programs last longer and lead to an associate’s degree. Technicians also learn the names, uses, and doses of medications. Most programs also include clinical experience opportunities, in which students gain hands-on experience in a pharmacy.
It is this singular fact that very few people realize. A pharmacy technician who receives no formal training is responsible for not just the delivery of a patient’s medication, but also for their bill, their confidential information, and their life. The question now is, how can an uneducated individual be given so much responsibility? Technicians are granted these responsibilities because a pharmacist can not do the job alone. Pharmacists strive to mold each new technician into an employee that will realize what technicians really do.
In order to become a pharmacy technician, you should take math, chemistry, and biology courses in high school. After receiving your high school diploma, you should complete a program specifically for pharmacy technicians. These programs are offered at community colleges and also at technical institutions and they can take anywhere from five months to two years to complete. Pharmacy technician programs usually include some on-the-job training as well. When a student graduates fro...
I pleased to apply to the PharmD program as the program is one area that corresponds to my career dreams. Being part of this program gives one the opportunity to gain an excellent experience in working and collaborating with various health care providers in the ward. But more importantly, it facilitates a practical environment in dealing more closely with patients. Hence, it helps to provide the ultimate health care services to patients. Also, it permits me to carry on gaining different knowledge, skills, and values in addition to those I have already developed during my undergraduate studies. My interest in being a clinical pharmacist was first aroused during my SPEP rotation in the hospital setting where I was really impressed with the role of clinical pharmacists who provide a consistent process of patient care with healthcare teams to maintain the appropriateness, effectiveness and safety of the medication use. Unlike a pharmacist, a clinical pharmacist has a more diversified responsibilities and closeness to direct patient care. Moreover, provides
Professionalism in community pharmacy is necessary to have. The pharmacist dresses professionally, which looks better and helps some people trust you more. Even though there are some patients that are very rude and impatient, the pharmacist must control himself or herself to communicate effectively. Even though there were stressful times during the workday for Mrs. Becks, she remained professional while doing her job. This shadowing experience was a great experience to have. I was able to learn a lot about the profession of pharmacy in the community setting along with make connections to what I am learning in class.
Pharmacy Technicians: A Specialized Discourse Community Overview of pharmacy technicians: Do they fit the criteria of a discourse group? When doctors prescribe medication for their patients, a local retail pharmacy is most likely to be utilized to fill the order. However, there is a growing population of older Americans that are no longer able to live independently and must reside in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. In order for this vulnerable population to receive their medications, a different kind of pharmacy is needed, these are known as LTC, long term care pharmacies. Within these specialized pharmacies there are highly trained employees called CPhTs, certified pharmacy technicians who are overseen by state licensed RPHs, otherwise known as pharmacists.
pharmacists must meet all relevant PBS, state and clozapine monitoring system requirements in order to participate.

With the increased cost of manufacturing, pharmaceutical companies have been divesting in their smaller or less profit making operations and focus on large segments. Many Pharmaceutical companies sold their manufacturing sites to contract manufacturing organizations. The dynamics of interfacing with contract manufacturing organization added intricacy in pharmaceutical supply chain network of pharmaceutical companies.
In the beginning they must have skills in reading comprehension, active listening, critical thinking and speaking. The education and training to become a pharmacists requires 2 to 3 year of undergraduate and for the D. Pharm. program is 4 years. Being an intern for Meijer has been a great experience. It has allowed me to experience what community pharmacy is all about and at the same time challenged me to grow professionally. Alongside my progression in pharmacy school, I feel that I have become more confident in all my actions that I do in the pharmacy. My knowledge about different drugs has grown and I feel that I am able to answer more questions (both from pharmacy team members and patients). One of the biggest areas that I believe that I have improved upon this year is processing insurance claims. A couple areas that I could still improve upon are Sync Script and pharmacy inventory management.
