Being an intern for Meijer has been a great experience. It has allowed me to experience what community pharmacy is all about and at the same time challenged me to grow professionally. Alongside my progression in pharmacy school, I feel that I have become more confident in all my actions that I do in the pharmacy. My knowledge about different drugs has grown and I feel that I am able to answer more questions (both from pharmacy team members and patients). One of the biggest areas that I believe that I have improved upon this year is processing insurance claims. A couple areas that I could still improve upon are Sync Script and pharmacy inventory management. My goals for the coming year are to continue to improve all round and solidify my
Working in the pharmaceutical industry, there are different types of environments you could possibly work in. There are chain pharmacies, like any kind of grocery store or CVS. There are franchise pharmacies, which are also known as apothecaries. Also, there are community pharmacies, which are also known as retail pharmacies. Some of them are independent pharmacies, which is usually owned by a pharmacist or a group of pharmacists.. There are hospital pharmacies, in which are in the hospital. There are many more different types, these are only a few.
About two years ago my closest friend passed away. As I sat at her bedside in the hospital I was shocked to see her in that stricken position. I wondered why was this happening to her?Why was she suffering needlessly? Since I was the age of 16, I have had the desire to help others. It first started with my neighbor Cheryl Conel. Cheryl was an intimately close neighbor of mine who I used to work for. As the years went by Cheryl and I became closer and our friendship strengthened considerably. She became my first strong female role model. Cheryl became very ill one day and learned that she had a Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection. This bacteria presented very suddenly and quickly caused her to lapse into a coma. I didn't understand at the time just how ill she was-- in my mind I thought she was going to recover and go home soon. I quickly learned that this bacteria is very difficult to eradicate and about a week later on December 9th 2009, Cheryl passed away. I was extremely devastated because I had just lost my mentor and my best friend. I wanted to learn mo...
I pleased to apply to the PharmD program as the program is one area that corresponds to my career dreams. Being part of this program gives one the opportunity to gain an excellent experience in working and collaborating with various health care providers in the ward. But more importantly, it facilitates a practical environment in dealing more closely with patients. Hence, it helps to provide the ultimate health care services to patients. Also, it permits me to carry on gaining different knowledge, skills, and values in addition to those I have already developed during my undergraduate studies. My interest in being a clinical pharmacist was first aroused during my SPEP rotation in the hospital setting where I was really impressed with the role of clinical pharmacists who provide a consistent process of patient care with healthcare teams to maintain the appropriateness, effectiveness and safety of the medication use. Unlike a pharmacist, a clinical pharmacist has a more diversified responsibilities and closeness to direct patient care. Moreover, provides
Pharmacy appeals to me because of its potential to ease people’s physical and emotional suffering. The simple act of listening and being empathetic to the concerns of other’s health and wellbeing has inspired me to learn more about the profession. Perseverance in college followed by the biotech industry has provided me with the necessary research skills to be successful. The ever-changing pharmacy field would allow me to continue my education, culminating in an exciting career.
The basic idea of the American Dream generally has stayed the same throughout time, although the majority of Americans seem to take the Dream for granted. The first settlers arrived to the New World in search of a treasure: life, liberty, and freedom. This treasure was and still is the American Dream. Now people from all over the world come to America in search of the same Dream; some even die trying. People were not as materialistic as people are now; they just wanted happiness. As time passed, people became more materialistic and began to take for granted what they were born with. For example, when my papa was a teenager he purchased his first car with cash. Everyone paid for almost everything they got with cash, not credit like they do today. Almost everything today revolves around having credit. Most of the richest people in our state could not go to the bank and withdraw a couple hundred thousand dollars; they would have to borrow the money based on their credit. Although, there are many people that are very misfortunate and have hardly anything, their idea of the American Dream would be much simpler than that of someone who is middle or upper class. Almost a week ago my boyfriend and I were leaving Crabtree Valley mall. It was a pretty cold and rainy day, the kind of day that we would rather be at home cuddled up on the couch watching television, but we were shopping. As we were leaving the mall we came to a stoplight. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a tiny old woman kneeling by the corner of the curve. She was
1.My biggest goal for 2017 Kobayashi Hisanori. 2.Introduction (goal) 3.Body (why is it important?) 4.Conclusion (what will you do to reach your goal?) Introduction My final goal is being professional baseball player. Baseball is a popular sport in the world and I think baseball is a sport that can make us deep impression.
The goals I set for myself are plenty. There are goals that I am very passionate about. For one, I took a public speaking course this spring semester and loved it. In the letter I wrote that by the end of it I wanted to become someone who could take risks and be a confident individual. Slowly but surely I’m growing into that person. There was a lot of things I wrote that made me realize how upset I was with the person I used to be. I told myself not to be influenced by the media and to make choices for myself. Something that this class taught me to further accomplish. The ways in which my critical thinking has changed is by
I want my individual skills to progress so I can continue to be an asset to the company. In learning from my peers I will be able to share my strengths and acquire others to foster collective intelligence. I think it will be important that deliverables are meet but the group is kept viable, which is something that is often overlooked. I want continue strong relationships with my peers and be a positive contributor within any setting. This will help establish trust and work towards maintaining the accountability that is needed. In having an understanding of the brand and motives of the company already, I want to continue to ensure my work aligns with the company’s broad and narrow goals and objectives. This will help ensure I am consistent within the company, can help portray the brand within all
In order to become a pharmacist one must go through years of schooling to learn the required skills and protocols. Many things have been know during the research, but more has been learned. All of this contributes to a future in a career of a pharmacist.
...elieve simply writing these goals out will manifest themselves and I look at where I came from to where I am now and where I can be in the future. I am very enthusiastic about advancing both in academia and career wise above all I am excited about the positive affects my journey will exsanguinate to others clients, family members, friends, and colleagues. As these people will positively affect my journey too in my point of view most things are circular and transactional. We all contribute to each other one way or another.
In the future after 2021, I intend to be completing my Doctor of Pharmacy degree. A few years later, I see myself graduating the University of Madison School of Pharmacy with high honors. As I continue my journey, my next step is to find a job which will help me grow as a pharmacist. Once I first start out, I hope to find a job in a city in order to get a improved understanding of my field and expand my relationships. Once I settle down with a family, I intend to return to Marinette as I believe it is a wonderful family town. I feel as though in Marinette, I will have numerous opportunities to pursue my career and also will have the ability to excel in careers fairly quickly. Also with the new additions which are being drawn into the area,
Pharmacy, as a profession, is the application of all branches of science to the production of medicinals’ and medicinal products (Shaw et al., 2000, p. 9). Community health, nuclear and retail pharmacy were the areas that I had in mind to pursue. The scope of practice and responsibilities of pharmacists in pharmacy setting differs tremendously either by size of organization or location as there could chain community pharmacy (retail), community health centers, and nuclear pharmacy. Community health centers (CHCs) are private, non-profit, consumer-directed healthcare corporations that provide high quality, cost effective, and comprehensive care to medically underserved and uninsured people (Torres et al., 2002,
My goal: I am going to achieve standing firm when I need to. I need to have this as a goal, because I will be less successful and less respected if I falter in this area.
As a second-year pharmacy student at Texas Southern University of College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, I am eager to acquire the knowledge and hands-on experience in the clinical aspect of pharmacy while using my clinical skills to critically assess, make judgments, and recommendation based on clinical guidelines and patient’s medication profile. My career goal as a pharmacist lies in obtaining my pharmacist license and advancing into a clinical pharmacist role in the hospital setting. Through my education as well as real-world rotations experience, I have gained a solid foundation and understanding in general day-to-day pharmacy tasks such as verifying orders, filling prescriptions, maintaining records, and monitoring inventories. Furthermore,
